Matt10
Does anyone know what exactly happens at Thorpe when there is a thunder and lightning storm with operations and which rides may stay open and if it is scheduled for near enough the whole day will the park open? 0 Mattgwise
When I was at the park during a storm all of the rides I could see temporarily ceased operation. X may have stayed open, but didn't see that. The storm passed over in about 20 mins and everything reopened. Never known them to fully close the park. But then we don't tend to get whole days of thunderstorms.
0 Project LC
During a thunderstorm when I was there all rides ceased operations except X and angry birds which remained open. Oh and the dodgems may have remained open. They did make us have a very swift evac off nemesis inferno. Second the storm had passed they all got going again very quickly
0 Merry-go-girl
I'd love to see Amity Cove in a real life Thunderstorm, you can't engineer effects that cool.
0 Whatever
Has lightning ever struck one of the taller rides such as Stealth?
0 400400
Has lightning ever struck one of the taller rides such as Stealth?I don't think so. Ive been on saw during a thunder storm and we got on and off it a few times before it got sent around
0 pluk
I'd be amazed if they hadn't, and if they were struck there'd be no issue with it. You can't build a massive metal thing without lightning hitting it occasionally.
0 Tom
I mean Stealth has a lightning rod where the second camera used to be (at the end of the airtime hill) But yes they have most likely all been struck! Tall bits of grounded metal + lightning = inevitability
0 pognoi
It's surprisingly common to be honest. Out of the last 3 thunder storms in my local area the water tower by our local hospital has been struck twice and it only stands at 50 ft. 0 Merry-go-girl
I wonder what that does for the water quality.

0 TraX
Tidals lake has been hit. The rumba tunnel has been hit, as has Stealth and X. It does happen.

Which all goes to show there is no God. If He was throwing bolts around with purpose Storm Surge and the car park barriers would be struck daily. And he'd have launched a meteor at Chessington to put it out of its misery years ago. TraX and pognoi
