Dan_Rush
Talking of Bubbleworks, I know I must go to Chessington again before the end of the season, If it's not there next year I'm going to be crying at the exit!. I'd just be so guilty if I didon't get my final ride, clapping along to the music, smiling at the surroundings and just for a few minits be the happiest person ever. That ride holds so many memories for me.I remember once it was closed all day, and when it reopened about 3, mum said I couldn't ride. only people with there face painted could go through!, some special promotion, she said. I later found out that she was tricking me, the truth is, I hate anything to do with paint and she thought it would be a clever way to make me enjoy it.Another memory I have of Bubbleworks is that I'll never forget the time the operator got really mad, and stopped the ride shouting at the top of her voice. Someone was standing, back to the fountains attempting to tip the boat, and yes, the edge of our boat, too. She kept saying, get off, get off and he wouldn't listen, and we ended up just carying on our journey. When we arived at the fountain part, he turned around, got everyone wet, then decked me and my parents for being on and started getting all violent. The ride stopped again, more shouting, and then the ride resumed. I am surprised he didon't fall in to the fountain. At the station he was escorted from the park, it was so funny to watch

rygr
No-one's mentioned this. But I thought Bubbleworks was actually hilarious during the Halloween period with all of the characters inside having some kind of Halloween theming added to them. The egg having a pillowcase over it as a ghost. At least the park put effort into making the inside of this ride halloweeny. The other rides (apart from Vampire) that I went on didnt seem to have much theming inside, so the effort was good. Just hoping the park makes use of the closed season and repaints the exterior queue, which especially inside looked inexcuseable. Although I'm sure come May it will be the same again. I noticed it for the first time on Saturday. The "Ssshh! Please be quiet! You must be quiet!" speech about mid-way through the ride.
rygr
I think Bubbleworks audio system has failed recently. The voice in the first scene has not been working for like half the season, the dunkin ducks part is tempremental (sp) decides when it wants to come on, and there were problems with the station music too recently. The speakers built into the outdoor building of Bubbleworks should be used in the ride, they were really loud and set the transylvanian theme. There are many times where it is a perfect volume and others where it is just, well.... stupid! :)Bubbleworks does need some attention during this closed season, especially regarding the audio.I would also like something to be done regarding some of the posters. There is one, which is on the bridge part of the queue, that is completely vandalised.(It is blue if that helps anyone). - Think it is 'Imperial Energiser'. Fred
The audio system seems quite knackered, it was always hit and miss as to whether zones worked or not. The shh be quiet thing barely ever worked, and thats my favourite bit .As for the poster, thats been getting worse since 07 when it was first targetted! themeparkmad
The shh be quiet thing barely ever worked, and thats my favourite bit .Really?! Everytime I went in the 2009 season, it was playing perfectly at a perfect volume. Maybe I could be Bubbleworks' lucky charm? No? Didn't think so! :)As for the poster, thats been getting worse since 07 when it was first targetted! It is a shame that it can't be replaced really. StevenVig
It probably can be replaced easily, it's just low on Chessington's Priorities.
themeparkmad
It probably can be replaced easily, it's just low on Chessington's Priorities. You are correct Steve that it is probably a low priority thing. However, you would be surprised what vandalism can do and affect guests days out.I really do hope over the closed season, or during the 2010 season, that something is done in relation to this matter... MikeyT
I'll have to disagree somewhat, I know that they have tried to sort it out in the past. It's something that has been noticed, and it will get fixed, eventually, I'm sure.I guess it's Chessington's smaller version of Thorpe's link issue. Some people say it's fixed.... pah yeah right
Sheepie
I've heard they tried to fix it as well. Too bad some of the engineers don't give two donkies about it and maybe don't put in as much effort in that respect. Afterall, they've got a hell of a lot of pressure on them as it is, I can't really blame them.I would love for there to be a department that concentrates completely of special effects, music, lighting and scenery. At the moment, officially it's engineering who are responsible for ride effects, lighting and music, whilst maintainence who are in charge of queueline issues, however because it is written on the ride's inspection paperwork, engineers tend to do that as well.I think the main attitude is, as they have so much work load, if it doesn't breach health and safety regulations, or bring in money directly, then it's not worth it.Although that attitude has slowly been changing over the last couple of years, so we shall see! Also, if that is "only" what they had to focus on, I can see Chessington & Zoo rising in people's expectations!A great idea Sheepie!

electricBlll
Tussaude's had a great ride and really did ruined it for no reason other than money. Prof Burp's Bubbleworks was so brilliantly designed with the audience in mind. But with Merlin showing more and more of their immersive ride capabilities, could we see some subtle changs to the current Bubbleworks in the future? It is not as good as the original, but the current version is certainly not a bad ride. Once the sponsorship has been removed (and that is the main problem gone already) a nice, funny and memorable dark ride will be left. Obviously some bad points such as lack of animatronics in a few areas and those ugly ducks will still be there, but can't something me done about it? In 2009, new lighting was installed in the Rub-A-Dub Department, Fairground and Bathtime Drop scenes, consisting of fast-paced, multi-coloured pulse lights. I think this alone added greatly to the life in those scenes and work much better than the bright spots previously seen. It is a step in the right direction to improve the ride, but is still not as good as the dim UV lighting on Professor Burp's Bubbleworks. If Merlin are willing to keep on improving like this, Chessington could end up with a very good version of the ride again. The music, as mentioned, needs fixing and to be properly edited. Does anybody actually know why the tunes were cut short in some areas? In the Fairground music there used to be a really atmospheric and magical sequence that has been edited out of the version currently used. This is the same with the Rub-A-Dub music (previously from the Hygiene Room) which had a part cut out of the original tune that featured wild squeaky noises. It does not seem to make sense why they decided to abridge the music in the first place; so it would be nice to fix this issue.I know in their recent statement Chessington talked about how they were afraid about retheming the ride again after recieving so much dislike from fans when they first did it, but surely that does not mean they can't keep improving?Eventually Bubbleworks will become one of Chessington's signature attractions again. tomathy
I never saw it without imperial leather being a part in it all so I cant really comment, but I must say that I have had some great rides on it! splashing all the way through, and if you split your group between 2 tubs then you can splash each other! It would be nice to see the audio redone in most of the ride area's and in the station though as it can be a little jumpy.
Fred
Nice to be against the rules sometimes eh? Be careful with that water though, they had a few times where the chlorine was too strong and stained peoples clothing, and other times where peoples hands have had lovely infections. But then again, it does say to keep hands and arms inside of boat
JJ_142
For my Professor Burps Bubble Works was always the ride everyone look forward to the smells, the story the music and geneal atmosphere of the attraction. The Imperial retheme for me was the worst mistake I think CWoA have ever made for starters the queue line paint job BLUE YELLOW RED just scream impeiral and rewins the whole area theme IMO. The ride is ok but does no keep in key with the theme of the area. I think the original ride was an icon for CWOA and people saw the bubbleworks as a piece of history. Now none of the classic figures an anamatonics work and the entire ride is branded as inmperial leather. As for the audio the classic finale theme music is not heard throuout the entire attraction. For me it is greatly missed and I hope Merlin have relised what a legend of an attraction may have been upgraded but the magic of what it was has been lost and maybe that was the first floor in why people have decided to not come bak hense this whole 'New Developement plan of CWoA' Bring back the roots: Bring Back the customers? MikeyT
I do get a bit frustrated when I read things accross sites saying that people are no longer interested in Chessington. The past two seasons have been the busiest and most successful since 2000!Judging by that article posted a few days ago on CoasterForce, I'm guessing there are no immediate plans to re- theme Bubbleworks. Perhaps when the time comes to merge those surrounding areas in to their respective continental theme, the attraction will be reviewed.
