  1. A scare maze is just a walk through with actors. Aside from choosing a route in some mazes, there's very little active participation by guests. Escape rooms see you locked in a room or (as in Containment) a series of rooms, where you have to put in a code / key to get out in a set period of time. To get the code, guests are actively participating, solving riddles, searching for clues, etc. Actors can be used to either help or hinder people, and try to scare people. Escape rooms require a lot more thought and detail to be pulled off than scare mazes. The actors also need to be more focused since they're with a set amount of guests for a longer period of time. If you don't use actors, you need a lot more work put into them as well.
  2. The thing is there's also scare mazes that are open all year round / outside of Halloween, which are also very successful. But there does seem to be some sort of weird scenario where these things are successful outside of theme parks, successful in theme parks at Halloween, but not so successful in theme parks outside Halloween. Maybe Containment can be the solution to this problem, but until we get more info about it, I remain very sceptical.
  3. Yeah, I did think it might be a little too high tech at the moment, but I have little clue on just how advanced 3D technology is at the moment, so it's hard to know what to expect.
  4. I believe there's two photo points. One is simply in front of a green screen and forms the lenticular / 3D photo frame for £15. The other is for the head in a jar. I assumed it would be a 3D printed model of your face in a jar, but the above photo would suggest otherwise?
  5. From Owen over on TTSP... Lenticular photos cost £15 (£10 if you have a Digipass I believe?) Head in a jar photo. Notice also the 'Scan here' sections. So it would appear photos are taken before the ride and you're given a ticket. If you want to consider buying the photo, you'd then scan the ticket and go from there.
  6. Only 200 of those merch bundles avaliable though - won't last long! The adrenaline mistake is hilarious though, unless Merlin are trying to crack the pharmaceutical industry?
  7. Want it Dreamworks themselves who pulled the plug because the idea lacked overall quality?
  8. Or that they just aren't finished yet?
  9. The best thing to do is to ignore things like this. Don't give their site the views, their social media the attention and dint hand over your money and buy their paper. If necessary, Towers will take appropriate action. If not, they'll let it slide and it will affect so few people that it simply won't matter.
  10. From TPM Facebook... Foundations have seemingly been laid. Curious what will happen now.
  11. Maybe I've misread the post, but surely if there's actors in DBGT then they're bound to have costumes? Doesn't seem too far of a stretch of the imagination to say ride hosts would have a different uniform too; after all, some IAC hosts have the beige uniform!
  12. Has anyone else been receiving this email every day for the past few days? I received it once or twice a couple of weeks ago, but they've sent it to me every day for almost a week. Just feels like spam now. Just wondering if I've just been unlucky / signed up to multiple different things via Merlin or if they've been having difficulties with their email or something?
  13. Efteling have revealed that they invest 10 million euros (£7.9 million) a year in general maintenance, refurbs and refreshes to the park: http://www.looopings.nl/weblog/5368/Efteling-investeert-jaarlijks-ruim-10-miljoen-euro-in-onderhoud.html
  14. Let's not forget Lightning Rod is being delayed. Lost Kingdom failed to open when internally planned. Klugheim still doesn't have an opening date. Mission Ferrari at Ferrari World was meant to open in 2015. Karnan's tower hasn't been fully themed. Legoland Windsor still haven't opened Ghost yet. Kong failed to open for its internally planned soft opening. The list goes on. The theme park industry is nothing but delays and broken promises. Let's all rage.
  15. Mount Mara is now open proper and there's some of the VR footage here; it looks surprisingly alright (better than Six Flags' efforts): http://www.looopings.nl/weblog/5185/Looopings-test-nieuwe-virtual-reality-achtbaan-Mount-Mara-in-Bobbejaanland.html Interesting to hear that the park's director seemingly thinks of it as a long term thing too.
  16. I've heard that the Containment site has now been fenced off and a couple of Danger / Work signs have been put on them? Anyone able to confirm?
  17. Completely unrelated point, but the lack of capital letter at the start of your username is so bad ItsHurtingMeInside
  18. I heard that X had a closure today due to essential cleaning, but was back open quite quickly. Maybe you were there then Jamie? I also believe that Derren Brown's Ghost Train and Amity Beach were closed today. :/
  19. It was his stage name in 1992 - http://derrenbrown.co.uk/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-derren-brown/ Y'know, to fit in with the rumoured time travel stuff On a different note, a couple of photos from today from Theme UK... Lights have been added to the covered sections of the queue. These are the same as the ones posted on mindswanted. "Proceed this way after presentation" sign. And a couple from TPM... Complete clock. No more sign. No more mysterious, train carriage like, object outside the building.
  20. Given that Shrek's Adventure is planned to be rolled out across the globe (in a similar fashion to the Dungeons brand), I'd be surprised if the Merlin / Dreamworks connection wasn't very strong.
  21. If you want to get picky, I refer you to rules 1C and 1K. NB: I did not delete your post.

That takes you back to forum.maniahub.com, I think pluk is referring to one to go to thorpeparkmania.co.uk?
  23. As good as Ryan's prediction was, it appears he was still trumped (kind of) a year and half earlier...
