Definitely one of the biggest factors. Times have changed and with h&s gone mad and complaints/suings taking place due to the most minor of things it certainly didn't help.
Using Pleasure Beach as an example, the documentary aired in the 90s even showed a crash and all parties involved were pretty calm and just got treated and got on with things. See below from about 16 mins in...
And hilarious how the time machine restraints get stuck after every cycle but they continue to get an engineer and reopen it everytime for the entire day!
Awesome day in a very chilly and wet Southend with the rides doing some very bizarre things. Great to see you all and meet some new faces
A nice video clip of one of those bizarre things...
Doesn't look very interesting, not very fast at all, although it does seem they have released it slowly from the lift as part of the testing, so expect it will be ever so slightly faster. Still looks disappointing overall though.
I would praise them for this change of decision but quite frankly shouldn't have got to the point of needing to change, as it was simply ludicrous.
They might JUST get my custom now.
It is fully included as part of the premium Pass as its not a separate event this year. The park is simply open from 10 till 10. Standard annual passes will not be accepted on Fridays or Saturdays during august, so there will likely be a charge for those days which hasn't been confirmed yet. If you go on the last week of July or any Thursday in August when it's also open till 10 there won't be a restriction on either pass.
There have also been lots of "dead" areas that have returned over the last year so hopefully they have done some work over closed season with other quiet/dead areas. It is probably in their best interest to have it working what with the focus on the new soundtrack and most of it being put in place by the end of last season.
Build a custom modern wild mouse with the same layout in its remembrance. Wouldn't be the same but would be a nice touch.
Then again perhaps just put it to bed and build something different there.
Loving the look of those tight turns. Should be some good forces at points on this ride. Can't wait! (even though I don't get to ride what was my favourite coaster in UK)
Is it definitely "demolished" maybe, just maybe it was dismantled as a lot needed doing and we could see it put back? I know I am wrong, but can hope! Surely a small chance.
What makes it even worse was it was about to be celebrating it's 60th birthday this year!!!
Well deserved win! It is my favourite coaster at the park and has been for a couple of seasons now, and for around that time I have also preferred it over the original.
