2026 Season
I mean that was a different situation though. Tussauds getting their feet under the table and the park needed a big double whammy of attractions given the biggest thing was Tidal Wave.

Weird height restrictions
Another one from Efteling, Halve Maen (the HUGE pirate ship) only says that children under 1.2m must be accompanied. Viable that kids under 0.9m could feasibly go on it.

Weird height restrictions
Merlin really went ham on a few restrictions (log flumes in particular). My cousin went on Pirates at DLP at a few months old and slept through the entire thing. RMT at Towers is min 1.1m though, 1.3m is unaccompanied. It's frustrating really. Little one adored the teacups at Efteling but can't ride them at Towers and you can't really explain why to them. Granted she wants to ride Nemesis but you know. Guess it's just that difference of safety and responsibility expectations. Did amuse me that you can take a baby onto Pirana at Efteling.

Alton Towers General Discussion
The prices at Towers are probably such to avoid hitting the local B&B market too hard. It does feel expensive though considering the lack of overall quality. Though my visits the last two years were fine, wouldn't really wax lyrical about them either. Just looking at possibly doing Efteling for a week in May and one of their 6 person renewed lodges is comparable to Splash Landings price wise. However I know the trip will be just... better. CBeebies Hotel pricing is just awful though.

2026 Season
Merlin are clearly a bit hamstrung financially at the moment. But I certainly don't miss the adding something new for the sake of it period. That's how you end up with crap like I'm A Celeb or Black Mirror.

Alton Towers General Discussion
The area is crap anyway so destroying it is probably the best bet. Towers is depressing at best of times but that section is just dead.

2026 Season
Have all their weekend RAP allocation been booked up yet? Obviously only GOOD parks have that nonsense happen.

Top 10's
I actually have an update to mine for once. 10 - Shambhalalalalala Floaty airtime goodness. Though the clamshell restraints weren't as forgiving last time I rode it. 9 - The Beast Love it. And at night it's REALLY special. 8 - Revenge of the Mummy (Orlando) Couldn't get enough of it. Just fun ride and fantastic themeing. 7 - Blue Fire I still enjoy Blue Fire even if it has dropped down the list over the years. I could ride it all day and is certainly a landmark for when Mack changed their game. 6 - Katun The first drop is old school B&M perfection. And one of the few "big" inverts that I really enjoyed. 5 - Oz'Iris Hopefully back on it next year, but the layout and themeing on it is top tier. Will it be ousted by Toutatis? 4 - Helix Mack struck green gold. The hillside location is used to tremendous effect, with the iconic music and Jubilee Line station adding to it. Another night time ride classic. 3 - Nemesis (Reborn) She's dropped down again! The sacrilege. However still one of the best designed coasters in the world. Was running like an absolute monster this Scarefest too. Plus the child is also obsessed with the ride so win-win. 2 - Untamed My intro to RMC (and still the only one I've ridden). There are certain rides where you only need one turn to fall in love and this is one of them. Airtime aplenty and was once my number 1, but a bigger love appeared this year... 1 - Voltron Blue Fire walked so Voltron could run. This is the most obscene bit of kit Mack have ever produced and whilst it might not be a "ride all day" coaster it is by far the most action packed and intense coaster I've experienced. It has inversions, airtime and random Mack nonsense all in one tidy package. I can understand why it would be too much for some riders but for me it is pretty much the perfect ride. And I can see it in my top spot for a long, long time.

2025 - A year in review
Movieland Italy is a fantastic park purely due to its bizarre Mafia led nature.

2025 - A year in review
I went to Europa Park and Towers 3 times. Prime enthusiast. Voltron was at least worth the effort. As was getting a rollback on it.

something major to come
Would also be worth noting that Megaphobia is designed to suit the terrain it sits upon. That in of itself would cause a headache and require a mass recalculation and redesign of the supporting structure to suit a new position. They'd be 100% better off building and designing something dedicated for the park. As long as they remember to build a complete layout this time.

something major to come
Closed season has been what, a couple of days off of Towers and already we've seen the wildest suggestion that will not happen at all. Next year is gonna be a lot of expectation for what's next. But given Merlin's situation at the moment I'm not sure what can be expected.

Park Operations
Towers is the same. The state of the entrance plaza at around 10am isn't the best first impression. Especially when most guests have either queued 30 mins for Monorail or walked.

Thorpe Park's Old Days
Barely much left from those days. No chill ride on the waterboat from the farm. No CCR or Loggers Leap. Spent many a time on the crazy golf or in model world. Good old nostalgia eh?
