  1. How is the preview event ticketed these days? I remember getting some through American Express a few years back, but they seem to have stopped that relationship now.
  2. But... will we be able to tell?! If it's spent wisely then I agree, a very good move.

I don't think they know what they're doing with, let alone any of us!
  4. Thinking of doing this tomorrow, anyone know the cheapest way in without a map? Ta!

Most importantly, with the demise of loggers which log flume is now the tallest in the UK?

Regardless of the reasons for it finally closing, I think my point is the decline has been too rapid for its current state not to have been something that has come about at least in part because of they way it hasn't been cared for in more recent times.

I wasn't really aiming that at you, just a general thing. I still think you're apportioning too much on to the religious aspect though, that is merely the means by which they are radicalised. The Qu'ran is no more dangerous than the Bible or Harry Potter. They are all works of fiction people care about too much. Also, this... Behind the following starts is a word which should never be uttered, and I apologise for that, but this actually happened. She tweeted this. What an absolutely vile **** of a woman.

In its current location I don't see how they could turn it in to a clean water 'closed system'. To build it would be prohibitively difficult (and expensive), and once it was running an unacceptable about of chlorinated water would spill into the lake. I think it's hard to suggest it's been looked after well in recent years when one of the two buildings rotted to the extent it was condemned and the other looks like it's in such a horrific state it needs to go the same way. The whole thing just looks entirely unloved. Also, it can not be simply coincidence it has suddenly become so unreliable. It's been pumping that same water around for over a quarter of a century and it's been fine for the vast majority of that, why would that suddenly be a problem now in terms of either reliability or visually looking such a state?

Who you calling a troll? I do hope it's not one of the most knowledgeable members on here... The ride itself is clearly knackered. The station building has been rotting from the ground up for a number of years and looks ready to come crashing down at any moment without a whole load of assistance. It saddens me to say but Loggers is probably not worth saving from any sensible financial perspective, so I doubt it will be saved.
  11. I'd be amazed to see the return of Island Beats, I just hope its lack of success has not tainted Summer Nights in their eyes and they realise they just got the offering wrong on that front. Keep it simple, one event per evening.

It's probably well worth remembering that the biggest victims of attacks like this around the world are other Muslims. The Sunni sect carry out many attacks on others sect of Muslim as they don't recognise their version of belief. The hugely vast majority of Muslims will be as disgusted by this attack as anyone else, and then they've got to live with everyone looking at them with suspicion for forever more. There are 6 million Muslims in France. This was 8 people. It has nothing much to do with religion and everything to do with being a murderous maniac.

France. What the hell?! Why do they keep getting hit? How can they stop it? Will we see the same thing here? I'm not particularly looking forward to working the next few days. Stay safe all.
  14. I want to stay positive and excited about this, I really do. And I am. But it does seem such a shame, of all the unlimited imagination of any fantastical thing in all of the world, we end up with a second abandoned warehouse. I was hoping the plans had, at least to a certain extent, left deliberately ambiguous and might prove to at least hint at something more original, and less drab.

So glad I took that last day of the season opportunity now!
  16. I don't know how much can be read into it this far out, but the 'Fright Nights' tab on the main page (which I think should actually be 'events') currently lists only: Fright Nights Ministry of Sound VIP Experiences No mention of Summer Nights or Island Beats. Or any Easter event for that matter, although they often seem to be more of a last minute and low key addition anyway. So is that the end of these events? What else could take their place, if anything? I don't think Island Beats was much of a success so I wouldn't be surprised to see the back of that, Summer Nights was probably better overall, but is so very weather dependent. I think whatever they do they just need some consistency. This year was a mess of events and ticketing. Summer nights through the summer with a specific event each Saturday would probably be a much greater success, much easier to get a clear marketing message across.

I don't want to worry anyone, but there's something missing from the ride line up page... https://www.thorpepark.com/rides/ X is there, Slammer is there, everything else is there. Loggers ... is not. Should I be moving this topic to another area of the forum?!
  18. That might be what's planned, but it doesn't mean that's what will happen. It's always changing this far out.
  19. So a disused warehouse. Not theater, not train station. Just what Thorpe needs, a disused warehouse, because it doesn't have one of those already.
  20. Well they can just employ all the UK based chain-smoking Eastern Europeans who work all the other Winter Wonderland rides then! Sounds promising though, fingers crossed.
  21. The place in Brentwood? Seriously pushing the boundaries of what can be considered a theme park there... It's like a field with an inflatable slide... ...
  22. I'm going to go ahead and doubt that is correct, but you never know. It would make it fit into a theme-park environment in quite a neat way. 30 seconds in, interesting how this participant describes being part of Seance... The clip then moves towards the Automaton stuff, which with the trademark I still imagine is where this is more likely to go.
  23. A little off topic maybe, but zero hour contracts suck for pretty much every employee. Nearly no one would not rather have at least a short (say 16 hour) contract with the opportunity of plenty of other hours on top, rather than a contract that guarantees nothing. 'Oh, but some weeks they might not want to work' you might say. Well try telling your boss you don't fancy any of the hours offered for a couple of weeks and see how long you have any offer of more work for. And that's why a proper contract comes with leave. Zero hours are stacked in the employers favour in pretty much every respect. Anyway. Maybe a restructure is what the place needs but not a retreat from offering a decent service, something which they arguably struggled to do already. Will be interesting to see how this ends up looking from a visitor perspective.
  24. I think the deciding factor will be if ABC can provide a safe restraint system that people can actually fit in.
  25. All those rides (and it does look a very good lineup) but still no Togada? Togadas work so well at busy places like this, you don't see enough of them. A little less realistically, does anyone think we will ever be graced with Holenblitz's (sp?) presence at Winter Wonderland?
