Well, that's a whole other level! And you have to go further than Towers to find it. But yes, I'm expecting technology that already exists to be used, if it is anything like the spiderman system I'll be very excited.

I'd rather something unique, even if it's based on something I'm no particular fan of, than a Thorpe version of something that's only a couple of hundred miles away.

Does look very Dr Who like to me. Amazed at the negativity towards that prospect really. It'd be a huge deal, it's a massive IP not only here but around the world. It has been watched weekly by many many millions of families for over 50 years, so the draw has the potential to span a huge rage of age and distance. It has just about the highest appreciation rating of anything on TV, meaning those who like it really like it. It also comes with such a deep routed knowledge of the basics in the general public (the TARDIS, the darliks, etc) that it really suits a relitavely short experience ride in that it does not have to spend excessive time on setting the back story. Even if Dr Who isn't exactly your own personal favourite choice I think it's pretty clear this has the potential to be an amazing thing for the park if they get it right, a real defining attraction which could lay the foundations for for the direction to take in the long term.

I wish I had a nice day there to appreciate it more that way, but I was a stressed ball of anger and frustration and found it hard to appreciate anything much at Astrix unfortunately. The ride still blew my socks off, obviously!

Been seeing it on MTV for a few days too, as expected it doesn't mention ITV so there's no problem. Also noticed the opening date is hidden in small T&C text with no mention on the voiceover. iItwould be very easy to think it's open now, wonder how many people that will catch out this week?

It's probably the best attraction sign in Thorpe, which says as much about Thorpe than it does that sign, but it is a good sign!

That second inversion looks insanely tight for a dive coaster, should be awesome.

Fanboys seem to hate on Ice Age for some reason. I really like it; something a bit different to break up the nonstop rides, with decent effects and an amusing if not groundbreaking hacked down film. Good to see them keeping it fresh.

What an amazing blast from the past that one is. I love it, never really thought of it being Chessington (or guilty!) having grown up with it it just seems normal to me, but listening to it now it really is an odd novelty song really, isn't it? It's one of a handful of songs that takes me right back to the night of the hurricane in 87, it came on the radio while we were all huddled in a room in the middle of the night with the wind howling around, I remember thinking at the time how odd it was to be listening to such an upbeat happy song while it sounded like the world was ending outside. Two great choices, I think it's fair to say your taste in music has improved since you're first purchase!

...maybe they'll have some rides open by then? I'm a maybe for this, I'm not due to be working, so that's a start!

Stop being so lame It's a shame you feel this way, I don't see that myself paige. There're one or two members who piss and whinge angrily about most everything, and some hostility is put to those members in a futile attempt to stop said whinging because it's tiresome, but that is hugely the minority and always has and will be the case on a forum anyone can sign up to. Eventually the moaners get bored of being called out on their moaniness and stop, but there'll always be someone out there to take their place. The two go hand in hand. People will be negative, people will shoot that negativity down. Frankly there's been a fair bit to be unimpressed with the start of this season. Take a look back a couple of years at something like the 'membership charter' and you'll see that we are in a period of relative friendly calm now, some of the most obnoxious abrasive people I've ever encountered have been on here, but that's all part of the fun! They get bored and move on soon enough. This reminds me, whatever did happen to Holly?!

Wow. I think it's time to dust off that old Chessington Zoo signage, it's more apt at the moment. They simply shouldn't have opened yet, this will be pretty brand damaging to anyone who is there, more so than delaying the start of the season would have been.
