  1. The signs might be more accurate in displaying what they are told to, but they are only as good as the data entered and on my (admittedly limited) experience this season they are utterly useless at gauging queue times.
  2. This sounds pretty damn awesome. I'm not at work for this one, which is a start! Lots going on around then though, so put me on the maybe list for now please.
  3. I'd say Cobra is the one ride standing out as grossly under rated among all that, it's not amazing but it is solid enough compared to other things above it. Based on how it is running right now maybe I would move Swarm up a bit too, as well as X, but for the most part the order seems about fair to me.
  4. Can't remember if it was the beginning of last season or the one before when they gave the tunnel a bit of a tart up, but they've let it go so badly again. What is frustrating is how little work actually needs doing to move it from 'embarrassing' to 'acceptable'. Clean it (shouldn't even need saying about anything on park!), black cloth to narrow the entrance and exit to make it darker, cover the holes in the structure, fix the rope lights which gave a glow but didn't light up the space too much and if they're feeling really exotic some misters as mentioned. It would cost them about what they take from 20 or so cars in a single day and would make the world of difference to the whole ride.
  5. If those things are at ground level they are doing to be clambered all over. Hope they've made and painted them well!
  6. Fairly minor incident in America of a girl being hit by a screw from a Chance Rides (that name in here again!) Wipeout. Ride looks like this (NOT A VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT!)
  7. It may well be the case that that happens elsewhere, but doesn't mean my guess isn't right here. Extending hours as a response to a park not coping is a regular melin tactic (I've had it happen at Towers too) but I've never seen it happen just because they fancy it like Blackpool seem to do. 8. Or that it is not a shambles? By that I mean Alton had a very busy day and for the most part coped with it, queues were not excesive and it was possible to have a decent day out within the standard hours. Chessington and Lego fall over operationally so staying open late was kind of necessary to head off thousands of complaints. Again, just a theory. It's still true that Altons opening hours suck for a park of that size and popularity.
  9. I'm pretty sure there aren't, but usually they are done in such a way that they are practically invisible until they are needed (ie, an evac)
  10. Unless I'm being blind there doesn't seem to be a thread for Warick Castle. Does anyone actually go there? Would presume so, what with it being on the MAP. Anyway, they've managed a decent bit of self publicity with this news story. I take it they use some pyro in their shows then?

I had a steward do a similar comedy announcement on a flight I was on once. Did the whole thing in the voice of Jim from Vicar of Dibly (no, no, no, yes etc, Was a thing at the time) and threw in some of the same jokes she uses here, smoking areas on the wings and that. Really brightened up the flight, and I certainly listened more than I do to the usual boring tosh.
  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-27024139 Topless men banned from Adventure Island. Fortunately it doesn't mention any such ban for women.

    This Or That

Tea. Coffee is the piss of Satan himself. The only Way Is Essex or The Valleys? (clue: if you don't find them both equally abhorrent you are wrong)
  14. Although I've been in plenty of mirror mazes where the same safety system is in place but it isn't visible under normal opening conditions. It is a shame it is quite so obvious in Hocus Pocus.
  15. http://thorpeparkmania.co.uk/news/14-04-2014/Angry-Birds-Update-and-More Picture 13 on the news article.
  16. What the hell is the pink/black polka dot building all about? Never noticed that in any anything Angry Birds, it looks odd.
  17. I'm pretty sure it can be bolted back in place just as easily as it was unbolted apart, if they want to that is!

I'm not saying it's not right/happening, but it is far from confirmation. Stuff gets copyrighted all the time and not used. I'm surprised they've been granted these, it's all well out of copyright so in the public domain and not anyones to own. Could be interesting if it comes to something though.
  19. So you paid £10 on park and then £10 on line for a total of £20? Should be £10 in total, defiantly complain if it is more than that!

    Jobs..

Today I did this... http://www.yourthurrock.com/2014/04/12/arrests-after-jewellers-hit-at-lakeside-and-south-ockendon/ Sometimes my job makes me feel good! But tired, just got in from a night shift
  21. ^Am I being well out of touch not knowing what the hell that is? I used to like reading the best page in the universe years ago, caught up with it the other day. Good guide to watching movies...
  22. Will it improve it though? The entrance is a bit tired and crappy, that's true enough, but it is at least tidy and has a little bit of character... (ThorpeParkJack) I was thinking I can't see how sticking a big flat screen and banner over that three dimensional building won't look like a mess, but looking at that pic against the plans I suppose if it is the same width as the front of the canopy it could look quite neat actually.

    Rush

It always seems to be changing, in an attempt at queue management I would guess. A much bigger cause of the queue seems to be the operations of the ride, taking ages between each cycle. It has been by far the worst run of everything at Thorpe on both of my visits this year, Rush staff seem to have no go in them whatsoever,
