Nemesis was the furthest thing from mainstream at the time it was made, and I'm sure if they'd described it to the public they would have told them not to build it, but look what it did for the park.Merlin need to trust their first instincts, make the first move and bring wood into this century in the UK, I can't think of a better way to do that than a modernised version of these plans.

Really? You ever been to a 6flags park? Would not be at all surprised if that was the finished look. For example, this is the amount of effort they have given to millions of dollars worth of B+M in the pastThe infamous 'carpark, the ride'. Oh very dear.

Having ridden a couple of other fliers, Air is still my favourite; it's speed, pacing and intensity is spot on for that design. The likes of Tatsu might look all impressive but just don't feel right, like they are fighting against the limitations of putting you in 'the position', rather than using it to their advantage.Having said that, the tunnel and the tin shed roof are laughable really and I think fixing them would greatly improve the whole experience.

Sorry, but why is it completely different? You keep making all these points on a whim with such confidence but nothing to really back it up with. They do simulate long-term running during testing. The fact that there are suddenly people on it doesn't suddenly mean everything's going to collapse (metaphorically). Assuming it has the same procedures as any other new B&M and I can't see why it wouldn't, I can't remember the last time a B&M had major problems as soon as it opened so why should The Swarm be any different?Think negatively, great idea, because all I've wanted to do was to wait and wait for Thorpe to add something worthwhile and exciting for once, and then just assume it'll be crap. Yay...

This year? I'd be surprised, spinning pointless gun ride* opened quite late in the season last year and has spent a couple of months closed since then. Surely they will still be trading off of that investment this year and wait til next year for anything new?*I admit I quite enjoyed spinning pointless gun ride, even with it's pointlessness.

Went for the first time (that I remember, think I went years ago) last week. Overall quite impressed, but then I was very very drunk at the time. Musings:Was a lot longer than I expected, a good couple of hours, which with bogof vouchers I'd call good value.A rat ran across my hand at the till - nice touch! The actors throughout were quite spectacularly good, made it really atmospheric, involving and entertaining. They stayed 100% in character even while dealing with stupid wandering guests. The batching system didn't quite work out. We ended up being part of three groups in the end, you'd think they'd know exactly how many to batch together to fit in each section.Loved the boat ride, quite unexpected and fun.Vengeance was better than I expected, I agree with the pointless gun grumblings but can see why they've done it like that. It's obviously a tight fit time wise and if everyone was messing about comparing scores there'd be a big back up. But the disorienting spinning with the 3d works quite well, feels like it could do with a bit more theming around the room though to link between the screens.Extremis was brilliant, was expecting so much less from it as it looks quite small, but is very forceful and the loose fitting lap bar means some major out of seat time was had. Some of the scenes were seemed a bit pointless and didn't really go anywhere, but they were in the minority. It's all quite tongue in cheek and deliberately funny in many places (especially the court room), I know it's a family attraction but I think it could be a little bit out and out scary at times, maybe some more things to make you jump. Some of the models and props looked a little tired/amateurish, think it would be a fairly small spend to tart them up a bit. Both entrance and extremis photos were very well done, so we bought them both. Shame there was no email/digital copy option.Lots of stuff I can't remember, mainly due to the drinking. Overall we had a great time and I'll be going back sober to see if is actually that good.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES1. WodanIt's been a while, but all three trains are now on site for Wodan, and testing is allegedly due at the end of this month! They are currently tracking the ride, with a lot of it already done. However, the temperatures over the past fortnight have been as low as -20C, so it's not been easy. Nevertheless..2. Hotel Bell RockThe hotel is really taking shape, and will open on 11 July.3. Dark Ride / Rollercoaster 2013Approval has now been given for construction work to begin for the 2013 extension to the Enchanted Forest. It will encompass 3 new rides, a catering area and shops. Rides are likely to be a suspended powered coaster from Mack Rides, which will feature indoor and outdoor sections and be themed to Luc Besson's Arthur and the Invisibles. Luc Besson himself will be the creative director for the project. The other rides will be mini drop towers and a carousel. All due to open for March/April 2013. The rollercoaster will be the 12th to open at Europa-Park! Quite a number!
