Ian-S reacted to Dan9 in Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
That's not an interpretation... A cobra roll is only called as such because of the way the element looks. If you wanted to break it down you could choose to see it as an Immelmann loop into a dive loop or something. It's still 2 inversions either way. -

The water filled ones (ones used on all coasters in testing)

Technically an inversion is a point at which you go beyond 135 degrees
Someone get your angle meter out and fly to Dubai for us

It was probably aimed at me cos I didn't goto Alton at the weekend due to Smiler & flumes being shut so I'm failing in showing my support for the park when they need it (never mind that I would have faced a 10 hour round trip to do it) and went to Legoland instead

My son wasn't overly impressed with the big one either, I could say the same about it the woodies though, each to their own as they say.

That new box now has a padlock over it, so I doubt it'll constantly be in use.
My bet is that when it breaks down, the ride will need to be reset from that box to confirm the track has been looked at? Can't think of what else it could be.

Ian-S got a reaction from Glitch in Project WC16 - New for 2016
Having experienced Shrek today, and knowing Thorpe's recent love affair with live actor maze type attractions, I'm now convinced more so than ever that this is going to be something along the lines of Shrek, I.e. simulator type experience + live actors.

Ian-S reacted to Matt 236 in The Chessington Adventure Tree
Paultons (though I haven't visited yet (MC16)) looks it's already a better park than Chessie. They have great rides, great theming, decent upkeep making an overall well loved park that is slowly turning from a regional park to leasing one in the uk.
Despite its falling quality, operations, theming, upkeep etc, it seems Merlin have a strategy to keep it higher than the likes of Paultons. Unfortunately it's the wrong one as its only aimed at getting more guests.
Rather than do rightful things like ripping out Toadies for a thrilling major family coaster, replacing Tombs with a better 21st century dark ride amongst other things all the park seem to be doing as adding more non-themepark stuff like more accommodation rather then invest and improve the park it'self which is getting closer and closer to breaking point, the day when vampire fails forever, Tomb shortcircuits and something happens in rattlesnake and falls leaving just scorpion, fury, bubbles & Zufari.
Rumour has it yet another hotel could be coming to Chessington in the possible future, or lodges like EV or both.

'Pre-show' and 'Chessington' are two words I don't have a great relationship with.

None of those things will happen. This is Chessington remember!
Tomb was already up for retheme, and when it reopens (in its current theme) will be around a few more seasons yet.
SFX coaster? Yeh right.
Not sure what they have available, if anything around the Zufari site.
The best chessington could do, if they really want to get people to stay, is add an indoor water park. There's nothing around locally.
Unfortunately after their last big investment of Zufari, and seeing how that (a pre-existing, operational, successful attraction in other parks) was rushed and screwed up, I have no faith in what they do.
I'll be over the moon to be proved wrong, but history shows us exactly what to expect of Chessington.

You're missing the point, if Alton was the only park, or I lived closer, then I would be there every weekend supporting them.
But I don't live close and don't have a money tree in the back garden, so I'll stick to the other three ****holes that don't cost me a small fortune to visit until Alton fix their stuff.

Ian-S reacted to JoshC. in Project WC16 - New for 2016
The 5 years thing will include a large scope of things, from initial planning about what the park wants, where they want to put it, etc etc. The rides themselves are closer to 2-3 years from first designs to opening. Certainly the likes of Saw, Smiler and WC16 won't have taken 5 years of planning.
The sheer thought of Chessington getting a SFX coaster makes me want to cry though.

I know you love BPB which is fair enough... but to say BPB has a superior ride lineup is a very bold statement, considering the age and sheer roughness of the majority of their ride lineup. Agreed they have the best water/dark ride in the UK, but I really wouldn't say BPB has a superior ride lineup in comparison to Thorpe & Towers though.

Ian-S got a reaction from pluk in Scarefest
It's probably a marketing thing, especially if they are going to have the Smiler open as suspected, they are going to get some **** from the fear porn obsessed media, so they have answers to all the accusations that will no doubt be slung in their direction.
If you have not had to give your dob for your hotel booking, am not a MAP holder, are tall and look older than you are, then nobody will know your true age - there's always a point where the world has to stop making decisions for other people and let people be responsible for their actions, so if you want to go into the maze, you do so.
I agree with the age 'recommendations' (I certainly wouldn't take a 8 and 10 year old into a maze like a friend is planning to) but if someone wants to ignore that recommendation, it's not really the parks fault if they get scared ****less as a result.

^Thats a fact with every coaster. Less friction between the wheels and the track because of the slippery surface means it glides around the track alot quicker, but this also packs a bit more force too!
