Jack got a reaction from jessica2 in Tulley's Shocktober Fest Scream Park
So I saw on Thorpe park local that tulleys will be getting a new medieval themed maze this year, but it won't be a new addition, it will be replacing a current attraction, here's a few ideas about what it possibly will/won't replace:

hayride - nope, that's here to stay, plus it doesn't take up a lot of space in the actual park so removing it would be a terrible decision.

hellements - I highly doubt hellements will go, it's a unique maze to the park and doesn't take up a lot of space so don't think it will be leaving us his year.

coven - I think this is easily in the running for the maze which will be replaced, the mixed variety of opinions on its opening year last year suggests that tulleys might just give up on it instead of try to improve it.

creepy cottage - they won't put it here, it's permanent and doesn't move, see ya in October cottage

chop shop - highly unlikely as it is one of the main draws to the event

pandemoniums - I hope it doesn't go here, and I don think it will, tulleys have had a clown maze for as long as I can remember and it would be sad to see it go

colony - this is up there with coven for me, as much as I adore the colony I don't think it's for everyone, if they keep the length and mix of in and outdoor scenes but just re-theme the whole thing to a medieval village I think it would work incredibly well.

cellar - this is also in the running to go, to my knowledge it's almost been 10 years at the event for the cellar so maybe it's time for a change, it used to be the scariest thing at tulleys by far, but now it's one of the tamer, warm up mazes. I wouldn't be too sad to see it go but it if stayed I won't be complaining.

sorry for such a long post but I live less than 10 minutes away from tulleys so I always get over excited for shocktoberfest. What do you guys think we'll see change this year?

I think I may be the only one who thinks this, but in my opinion saw is always the most hands on/intense maze at fright nights, and 99% of the time is the scariest and most jumpy as well. I know a lot of you on these forums always slate saw alive and will think I'm a fool for saying this, but for the past 3 years it genuinely has been the scariest maze. Yes big top and cabin were more enjoyable, but scares wise were not anywhere near, if I don't do saw on a visit to fright nights I usually come home with the event failing to scare me.

After visiting tulleys tea room today I'm almost certain of some of the mazes survival chances for this season:

    creepy cottage 100% staying

    Haunted hayride 100% staying

    Chop shop 100% staying

the colony 99% staying - all of its structures are still standing and identical to previous seasons, unless they keep them the same for the medieval maze but I think the colony is most definitely returning.

couldnt really see anything for the other 4 but I think I'm joining the rest of you now in saying that hellements is the one to go.

Just waiting for official announcements now really...

How about one of those deathly free fall into a suspended net upcharge things? I'm all for upcharge with something as unique and thrilling as that.

And then they'll proceed to fill that maze/space with little to no theming, no actors, and dull black tunnels

Or maybe they'll just make platform start where Blair used to finish and brand it as the parks longest maze ever again!!

I now know what tulleys are doing this year after popping down to pick some strawberries today, I have to say I now could not care less about fright nights this year if they get the permission from the neighbouring farm owners!!!!

Tbh I think they will put something like Air Force in its place, but what I would love to see (and yes I know it is never going to happen) is a ride like sledgehammer at Canada's wonderland.
A realistic suggestion could be an air wolf, I really think that would fill slammer's boots as you will also be able to see it flying through the air from all around the park, much like slammer.

A ride like air force would be a disastrous choice. It just has such a poor throughput. That with often slow operations just wouldn't be good for a park like Thorpe Park. It was a silly decision putting in the two kids rides in old town as it was a perfect chance to properly redevelop the entire area. Unless they plan to still do that and the two new attractions are part of whatever image they plan on moving that area to, hence why they don't fit currently.

I would love to see cabin turned into a chop shop (tulleys farm) style maze but free flow as well, maybe Texas chainsaw?!

I spent my day walking round the park and the coasters that were open seemed to all be on 2 trains, I only got on saw and x but they were both running well. At the start of the day X was on 4 trains and the queue moved surprisingly quickly but when I rode it later on it seemed that a train had been taken off as there were moments where there wasn't even a train in the station.

Was just thinking, if the 2 new kids rides will be permanent attractions, where the hell will all of the queues ect. Go at fright nights

the area was already cramped with 2 queue lines, with the addition. Of 2 more rides and queues the park really are going to struggle with space

also I am very glad rumba has been given some attention, although I think they shouldn't of removed any theming and just painted them up. I really hope the soundtrack is the same as I love it. Also, there are 4 effects I can think of which haven't worked in years, if all of these are fixed the ride could actually get you moderately wet.

effect 1: I've only ever seen it on once, but just as you leave the loading bay there is a water cannon which squirts down the whole first straight section of the ride which got us soaked.

effect 2: before you enter the tunnel water used to fall right down the center which never failed to soak us, haven't seen this one work since 2012

effect 3: the 3 sprinklers before the lift hill at the end, I always remember the time there was a boat jam but they were still on and riders were completely drenched

effect 4: I'm not too sure if this has ever worked but the shower where your photo is taken always seems as if it should do something but never does and to my knowledge never had, someone let me know if it ever did work.

I know I listed my top 5 above but Tbh my favourite maze in terms of experience is probably saw alive, it is always consistent, filled with actors, has great theming and smells, and it is the only maze I go through and get touched at least 3 times. I seriously don't know why it gets so much hate

Unfortunately my first fright nights was 2013 and I have been every year since, but to me 2008-2012 seem like they were the best years for fright nights. I'm extremely annoyed that I never got to experience experiment 10, hell gate, the curse and se7en, which all seem to be consistently rated right at the top in terms of all previous fright night mazes. Luckily in 2013 I got to lead the asylum which was amazing and I'm assuming the freezer was very similar to that, hence why I'm not too bothered about missing out on the freezer.

but anyway my point is can somebody please tell me what was so good about these mazes, especially experiment 10 which is almost always rated as THE best ever fright nights maze. I've only ever heard one bad review about it which was that it was a slightly longer version of MBV with a different theme.

I'm so eager to know why the (IMO reasonably good) mazes now are slated and hated so much.
