September 3, 201510 yr comment_216537 Meh, seen these built before. Least they're reviews have been generally good though which is better than nothing.
September 6, 201510 yr comment_216818 I wanted a bit more from this park for next year bearing in mind the space left from Rolling Thunder but I'm so glad they didn't plan to convert El Toro into a hybrid RMC. If they do that in the future they will have made a bad choice. I wouldn't mind if they built and RMC in Rolling Thunders spot, everyone would just ride El Toro.
September 6, 201510 yr comment_216875 Is this a normal sale for Six Flags? https://www.sixflags.com/newengland/store/season-passes $50 for a 15 month pass for all Six Flags parks. What.
September 6, 201510 yr Author comment_216884 The Six Flags passes are INSANELY good value... Even at like the usual $100 they tend to be...

September 7, 201510 yr comment_216932 For all the parks?!? What Their passes are awesome. Free parking too If you can ignore the slight scent o cheapness running through their parks, you can have a great day too.

January 26, 20169 yr comment_227120 Is that Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka running separately restriction still in place?
January 26, 20169 yr comment_227123 This sounds like an unnecessary health ans safety intervention. I didn't even think about this when I went last summer

January 27, 20169 yr comment_227169 It's in case something falls off the train above and hits the drop tower. Also when the train launches the tower wobbles which is off putting to riders on the drop tower.
January 27, 20169 yr Author comment_227176 Classic case of the theory being completely different to the practical really... Probably forgot to think about the effect of the train onto a separate structure connected to the coaster...
January 27, 20169 yr comment_227193 Really aggravates me these horizontal plane self spinning things being described as 4D coasters. They are just not. Even though I know that term is technically meaningless anyway, but whatever. No.
July 11, 20178 yr comment_250787 Can anyone help me with when six flags usually start their season? I'm planning a trip next year but can find what month is the usuall opening time
August 29, 20178 yr comment_252095 Program on Yesterday channel tonight (no idea why it's on there as it seems to be brand new), Impossible Engineering, going through the history of Kingda Ka. Looks interesting.

Looks interesting. This really excites me for two reasons: 1. Engineering is what I want to do as a career. 2. Kingda Ka is my number 2 coaster This reminds me of the megastructures episode reviewing the construction of Kingda Ka. It'll be great to see a more up to date documentary about the ride!

November 15, 2024Nov 15 comment_323018 Out of nowhere (unless you follow the various American vloggers), Kingda Ka and Green Lantern closed permanently on the 11th and have both been retired. To be honest with you I'm really unhappy about the lack of send off, particularly for Ka. This wasn't just another ride, it was the worlds tallest rollercoaster for 20 years and for many, was the last coaster of the 'coaster wars'. There are many, many reasons as to why Kingda Ka's life seemed limited after looking at what happened to Top Thrill Dragster, but nonetheless, it seems incredibly short sighted to me, to not give the ride the goodbye it deserved.
November 15, 2024Nov 15 comment_323019 It is very disappointing it wasnt given a proper send off. Long live the king. There is now an absolutely massive space left behind. The world record launch coaster coming in 2026 to replace it will have to be one hell of a ride to make up for that loss. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be the tower coaster being asked about in surveys a while back.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 comment_323028 Rumours started circulating online back in August, and the current ones indicate that it was a reasonably last minute decision, and that the decision to close it - and to not announce it until afterwards - came from corporate / above the park. I'm just as shocked that the park haven't properly announced Ka's replacement. I can understand some reasons behind not announcing it's closure ahead of time. But to do that and then not announce its replacement just smacks of low expectations for me. I know many found Ka rough or meh or whatever, but I genuinely really liked. Top 20 ride for me, simply because it's big and it's fast. Sometimes those primal feelings are all you need on a coaster. The word "iconic" is thrown around a lot these days. But Ka is iconic. It held the record for tallest coaster continuously and undisputedly for 19 years. Everyone who says they "like" theme parks / are a "theme park enthusiast" knows it. Heck, I'm sure that a large number of people who have ever visited a theme park would be able to identify that 'the world's tallest coaster is that one at Six Flags, right?'. It is genuinely saddening and disappointing that it has just been turned off and shut with no pomp and faff. It deserved it.
November 16, 2024Nov 16 comment_323031 It all feels very bizarre that it just closed out of the blue like it did. I remember watching those “worlds wildest rides” shows (or whatever they were) on TV years and years ago and being in awe of it back then! What a shame. I wonder what the reason was for closure? I assume cost to run and maintain? Makes me wonder realistically how much longer Stealth has - these hydraulic launch coasters are dropping like flies aren’t they.
November 17, 2024Nov 17 comment_323039 This news is hugely disappointing but not surprising. kingda Ka was such an iconic ride and definitely one that was high up on the bucket list. It’s hard to imagine SFGA and the world without this ride. As closures go, the handling has been amongst one of the worst. Whilst the ride was notoriously unreliable, even a 2 week/month warning would have been better than nothing at all. Which bar the bloggers rumours about this is true. 2025 will sure be a strange one for this park.
