EC!
This relatively unknown park, is getting incredibly hyped up by people in Sweden for a project to be announced on the 8th of April. All we know at the moment is that this ride is called Wildfire and the ride will open in 2016. I know I am using a Robb Alvey quote and bladi-blah but he has said: When the details of this are released, it's gonna BLOW PEOPLE AWAY! The park has revealed to me their plans and I cannot believe this is actually happening. We have a location and a name, and that's all I'm allowed to say right now! I hope he is right about this one but for him to say this when, looking at tpr has slated quite a few of new projects in the past, especially those of the wing rider variety, this sounds promising! I'm remaining skeptical though as its Alvey He is the fantastic preview trailer for this ride, which looks AWESOME!
pluk
Alvey playing the 'I know something you don't know' card like the king of the douchebags he clearly wants to be. Nothing really to go on yet with this one, have to wait and see. EC! and pognoi
EC!
I forgot to say it has been confirmed as a roller coaster though.
Mitchada04
Alvey is excited by it so won't be a B&M. Probably just a wacky worm, he seems to love them My guess is wood. Big RMC, I think they said they had a few European projects in the pipe line. pognoi
OldFarmerDean
to be fair it's gotta be something BIG considering they've decided to announce it this early...
JoshC.
S&S free spin maybe? Alvey got to try out a test track of it and seemed to scream with excitement over it (when doesn't he though I guess?) and he's making a big deal outta of all this it seems. OldFarmerDean
When I seen the logo, I did think of Intamin ZacSpin because of the circular saw shape, which is seen on the trains of those coasters... so S&S free spin isn't far off
EC!
it might be just me but the fact that it dives like that into the ground makes me think what ever it is it will be very steep, and will obviously have fire effects, but thats just my speculation of what I have seen. James_C
I would happily put money on it being the coaster they tested over xmas...I think it was the S&S free spin.
Benin
Tiny park no one has ever heard of and Alvey is excited? It'll be crap then, even with his INSIDER info...
EC!
It is owned by the same company that owns Skara Sommerland and Grona lund, so you might have not heard of it but I'm sure quite a few swedish people have...
Jokuc
It is owned by the same company that owns Skara Sommerland and Grona lund, so you might have not heard of it but I'm sure quite a few swedish people have... Hello, I'm new here on the site and I'll probably not be around but I came across this thread and I thought I would give you guys some information since I do live in Sweden. First off, Kolmården, located near Norrköping in Sweden is actually the biggest zoo in Scandinavia. It does have two small rides for younger people and such, but their main focus is on the animals. The park is very famous in Sweden and I doubt there's a single person who has not heard about it. Here is a map over the Zoo. http://www.kolmarden.com/Global/karta/parkkarta%202013.pdf.pdf if you are interested, someone posted a few images of the park in a thread over at TPR. It has made a lot of profits and Swedish newspapers has revealed that the project will cost around 120 million kronor, which is about 18.5 million dollars or 11 million pounds. According to the newspapers, it will be a roller coaster, but the park owners has not confirmed anything yet. The ride will NOT be some sort of record breaker, remember this is a family park. However, it is said to be something very cool which we have not seen before. So don't expect a new Superman - Ride of Steel or a double height kingda ka. If I would take a guess myself, I would guess that it will be something that goes around a big area of the park since they have so much space to use. EC!
This ride will be revealed tomorrow at 10am Stockholm Time or 9am British time. The most solid rumour going around is that it will be the first incarnation of the RMC/Vekoma woodie. If this is true or not find out at 9am at http://wildfire.kolmarden.com/countdown
Benin
I would laugh excessively if this ended up being sommat crap like a Vekoma Boomerang or sommat... Shame it's really out of the way tbh, 90 minute drive from Stockholm or 2 hours on the train, which could be worse but could be better... JoshC.
Placing a bet on it being a 'wooden' (as in a RMC woodie) Gravity Max.
Benin
It's a RMC with 3 inversions... My stream was so awful though </
JoshC.
Doesn't seem anything overly special. Alvey in overhype shocker! I've noticed they're saying it's the first RMC woodie in Europe, but isn't Tayto Park in Ireland building one for 2015? pognoi
Benin
Tayto's is gonna be a Gravity Group one, we all assumed it would be RMC in a similar fashion with this one (because of the Vekoma link)... 83 degree drop and 1.3km long was all I garnered from the stream before giving up, should be stuff on Youtube later I'm sure, but I'm just not THAT interested in RMC... I think as pretty much none of us have been on an RMC I don't think we should just cast it away as a ride sure Goliath just looks pointless but Outlaw and this look fantastic with lots of potential hopefully this new type of woodie will come to the UK soon. Its probably the only way are going to get a woodie haha.
Morgan
This looks amazing, a huge expansive layout, 3 inversions and on the side of a mountain forest. Layout below... (Source: Theme Park Review) It really bugs me that the majority of UK parks are "scared" of installing wooden coasters. If a relatively unknown park can get this sort of coaster, why the hell can't either Thorpe or Towers.
TraX
I think there have been enough wooden coasters, pushing what the GP think of in regards to what wooden coasters once were.. It's all good stuff and again, Thorpe will be watching all these advances in wood.
alexander
Nice to see more 'wood' to be coming to Europe, the ride looks really good, but is it just me who thinks a lot of the first half looks very, very, similar to Outlaw Run, not that it's a bad thing because OR is the fave of my RMCs.
EC!
It has sortof the same elements in the first half as outlaw the over bank turns and what not although the first is note like goliaths in the case that it goes fully over 180 degrees and stays there for a few seconds whereas outlaw goes about 170 degrees over and is literally just a quick flick. Plus the corkscrews look great!!
J.S217
Why are all the air time hills seem to be banked
JoshC.
No Limits recreation of the ride. That first inversion looks...odd. It just seems unnatural and that it could ride so uncomfortably...
