I've had a look and worked out the issue, when you copy in links they copy in with formatting. When you paste that in a message pops up (at the bottom) saying "You have pasted content with formatting" with an option to remove the formatting. Clicking this will make the image embed in the post.

Can't say why the BB Code doesn't work anymore (I know many have been removed so could be this) but using the above simply linking to the image will embed it in the post from flickr.

A technical error occurred today - A member was flagged as a spammer and all their posts hidden, but luckily not permanently deleted

This option should not have been available to members and has subsequently been removed; a bug during the move to our new forum style

But all fixed now
