TimR
By there not being a ride to escape to, off the top of my head I can't think of a ride where you can go on just to enjoy, or just to sit down for a bit. E.g Safari Skyway, Skyride, Duel even, Bubbleworks, etc. Part of why I think Thorpe is in dire need of a fantastic, world class dark ride.Canada Creek Railway? Thorpe park wasn't really made for families. Well actually it WAS but they changed it for Teens and adults and so on. and besides there is Canada Creek Railway. Daniel Watson
From looking at the dates as which you can buy tickets for the park, it seems that the park will not be opening in February and will open on the 18th March 2010(go to buy a ticket and december 09, jan 10, and feb 10 dont work but in march it will let you buy tickets for the 18th)
TimR
To be honest, Thorpe got alot of criticism from the Thrill Chill and they may just want to keep it shut and make sure all rides will be available for opening so we don't have to same problems as this years opening weekend. Paul
My opinion of Thrill Chill is simply that the park is opened earlier to make more money, even though it is clearly evident that nothing is ready.

Marc
Not really, a few quiet days to prepare for a busier weekend.
Mark9
My opinion of Thrill Chill is simply that the park is opened earlier to make more money, even though it is clearly evident that nothing is ready. That's very unlikely as Thrill Chill got such low gate figures at times that they would barely even break even... Paul
That's very unlikely as Thrill Chill got such low gate figures at times that they would barely even break even...I didn't say that they actually did make money, I just said that that is the reason why they opened earlier for Thrill Chill. Their aim was to make money. Whether or not that happened, I don't know.

(and not all rides may be available... just like Thrill Chill).
Paul
Yes, but they are open in Thrill Chill to try to make some extra money, rather than just from the Main Season.Plus, you can't really compare the availability now to what it was in Thrill Chill. For a start, half of the rides were closed.
TimR
Looks like Thorpe have extended their opening times on the first week of September to 6pm rarther than 5pm which is good to see.

Ricky
End of season (last 2/3 days) is usually quite deserted.
Rich
Just to confirm that Blast is well and truly been scrapped, the last 3 days of season now are 10am-5pm.
Paul
My plans for the end of this year are to visit Hocus Pocus at Chessington during October sometime, and then visit Thorpe in November when hopefully it will be very quiet. I was a little annoyed that Blast isn't happening, but I suppose that is compensated with a quiet park to go to!
Marc
The nation's Thrill Capital is now closed. Thanks for making 2009 our best season ever, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2010 when we open on 18th March!Thorpe have confirmed opening on 18th March which I guess we already worked out!Its going to be a long winter! Sam P
I think they are opening on the Thursday because it is a couple of quiet days before the weekend so if it goes like what it did this first day of season they have got less guests to dissapoint. Mark9
That... and its easier for new staff to start on quiet days as they aren't just thrown into the deep end with a very busy day.

Jake C
I'm not to sure if I would want to visit a thorpe annual pass day, enless they can get most of there rides open for most of the day.
Dan9
I've heard around that Annual Pass Day might be on a weekend before opening day.
