May 4, 201510 yr comment_208587 What's the point in the RMC conversions? I'm still yet to grasp the entire idea of them. In Magic Mountain's case, Colossus was made somewhat obsolete when they stopped running both sides and built a much better woodie.
May 19, 201510 yr comment_209345 So, its very slight but supposedly this is a little 15 mph launch into the prelift hill section, that people who have been on the ride for the pass preview, has meant it has small pops of airtime on that part, I mean I will believe it when I see a slightly better video but this looks interesting... https://instagram.com/p/22SOYfCvBo/
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209396 POV!!!! Reverse (looking at riders) POV From reading around sites and forums, this ride seems to have been classed better then any other rides at Magic Mountain, so that hype seems to be going strong still, can't wait to try this out next year!! Just to compare also here is its now also open RMC Brother, WIcked Cyclone! I'm not sure which I like the look of better And its Reverse POV From these POV's these 2 creations seem to be a lot more airtime focused then previous RMC models also which is a good thing!
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209397 I didn't realise that you actually got to go on both sides on one go! That looks pretty awesome, even though it's a steel coaster in my opinion.
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209398 The way six flags terms their coasters is confusing. If it's a flat ride that happens to have a carriage similar to a coaster, its a coaster. If it's made of 85% steel (a la wicked cyclone, where the supports and toppers are steel) its a hybrid. If it's 50/50 like twisted Colossus where the supports are a mix of steel and wood, its a woody. If I could class coasters, I'd say if it's track is like RMCs but it's supported by wood, it's a hybrid. If it runs on steel toppers and has steel supports, its a steel. If it has traditional wooden coaster track and steel supports, its a hybrid, and if its wood, its wood. It's simple but as per usual Six flags have made a mess of it.
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209399 With Wicked cyclone the immediate supports touching the track are steel but most of the rest of the support structure atleast for the taller parts of support structure is wood just painted grey, it gives the illusion more is steel then actually is tbh. Plus Twisted Colossus is seen as a hybrid by Six Flags, as it has been marketed by them as the worlds longest hybrid coaster. As you can see here this was it during the construction, when they started painting, a lot of the ride is still wood...
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209400 Ah, thanks for that EC. A bit of an ugly colour to paint wood though.
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209401 This coaster is so Six Flags. Fits like a flipping glove and I'm jealous of anyone who got to ride it whilst it was duelling.
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209402 Ah, thanks for that EC. A bit of an ugly colour to paint wood though. No worries man, and yeah it is a bit odd, I would have prefered white but then I do quite like the colour scheme still.
May 21, 201510 yr comment_209409 Twisted Colossus looks great fun, we need to get one of these in the UK
May 22, 201510 yr comment_209428 I actually prefer Medusa over all of the new Hybrids or is that just me?
May 22, 201510 yr comment_209432 Medusa is like thee ultimate hybrid, yeah. The last couple years they all seem to be samey and too much steel like in layout, medusa was able to capture the dips and turns of a wooden coaster whilst adding inversions. The more recent ones, especially Goliath have moments when they just seemed to be locked to a grid, and its very distasteful for a coaster.
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209441 I don't like the look of it at all. It looks like its engineered to be wonky but doesn't look fun. And for a ride that is quite long, neither parts look that different from the other. Ah well.
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209443 The hangtime stall section screams awful to me... Probs be better duelling, but these things just dont do it for me...
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209448 The only RMC so far that I want to ride is Outlaw Run tbh, like someone said earlier, the turns on RMCs sometimes look too try-hard.
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209450 I'm glad that I'm not the only one that doesn't like the look of them. Every turn or element always looks so off and just wrong. I just don't understand the hype for them on other forums.
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209453 Well usually the hype comes from people who have ridden them, so I'm not judging till I have actually ridden it.
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209455 Y'all boring. I agree that the two sections are too similar but the reverse POVs make it look stupid fun. I dunno I like Wodan and Baldar because they throw you all over the place and this does the same thing.
May 23, 201510 yr comment_209458 I really like the look of both. Would be happy for one to come to the UK.
May 24, 201510 yr comment_209463 Oh I agree I'd love one in the UK because it's something different and they look really fun! I just don't like how the designers try too hard to make every turn and inversion look weird, like those weird inverted stall things... Why didn't they just make it a full zero-g or just an overbank? Like I said a few posts back, Outlaw Run (for me) is the only RMC that doesn't look odd to me because it gets to the point without a badly-shaped turn or pump between every element.
