February 28, 201411 yr comment_177442 It hacks me off that the merlin owned parks which treat their customers like sh!te at times and fail to provide consistently good days out are dwarfing the parks which actually care about their customers and deserve to make a profit, but don't have a big company behind them.
February 28, 201411 yr comment_177445 The only way parks like this will survive is if we support smaller parks and visit them other wise park like this and all the other small ran family owned parks won't survive I allways go to smaller parks I find that they are better valued and better then big companies as smaller parks value there customers more
March 1, 201411 yr comment_177450 Problem lies with the ability to invest, remember a year or two back when Lightwater couldn't even construct a Tractor Ride, so had to wait a year to do so? Slippery slope of life, the smaller parks can't afford to build anything decent, no one visits... Although of course now there are plenty of rides available on the cheap, you have to wonder if these park's budgets even stretch that far...
March 1, 201411 yr comment_177457 Whitch is more the reason why we and other coaster groups need to show support and visit each year Evan if got sane rides otherwise there never have the money to invest.
March 1, 201411 yr comment_177481 Hello! I have a update on the new attractions coming to Lightwater Valley this year! Check out the rest on Facebook! Still more consistently-themed than Angry Birds Land will be.
March 2, 201411 yr comment_177492 Still more consistently-themed than Angry Birds Land will be. Dunno whether you're joking or not there Sids, but what makes you think that?
March 4, 201411 yr comment_177622 I'm hoping to / planning to visit sometime this year when I visit flamingoland, just wondering if it's worth staying the extra night to visit this park as well... are raptor and the ultimate really that good?

March 4, 201411 yr comment_177626 Raptor is a brilliant dark ride, Ultimate is also fantastic as long as you dont mind coasters that throw you around. When you say throw you around... how would it compare with Big Dipper at BPB for example?
March 4, 201411 yr comment_177627 When you say throw you around... how would it compare with Big Dipper at BPB for example? More than that, but in a different way. It's more jolty and bumpy than rattly, it's brilliant IMO.
March 4, 201411 yr comment_177628 I'm not too keen on rough/bumpy rides... but as long as if the restraints/seats are comfyish, as on the back row of Grand National I was in agony... but would love to experience the ride as it's so unique and I love the look of the second half of the ride winding through the trees!

I like the national on the back row.
March 4, 201411 yr comment_177630 just planned to go off in June... along with Flamingoland - two new parks for me, can't wait so hope I enjoy the ultimate aha!
March 5, 201411 yr comment_177635 T'Ultimate is probably one of the roughest coasters in the country... It's also one of the most (strangely) enjoyable though... But it is as said, a marmite coaster, just go for it with open expectations... Raptor Attack is pretty good as well considering it's an indoor Pinfari...
March 5, 201411 yr comment_177673 coasters: Raptor Attack Ultimate Ladybird Twister and Caterpillar they also have a Vortex type ride, and inverting pirate ship a mondial topscan, angrybirds land, and a general enterprise. There is quite a good flat ride range I'd say.
March 5, 201411 yr comment_177683 What is the lineup at Lightwater Valley? http://www.lightwatervalley.co.uk/rides_and_attractions.php (Hover over the rides section).
March 5, 201411 yr comment_177684 I'm really looking forward to Powder Kegs as I loved Dynamo at Alton Towers when I went the last year it was open and just tall enough... and a better version of Vortex (well from the looks of videos with how long the cycle lasts, and how high it goes)!
March 5, 201411 yr comment_177686 Powder Kegs is a little forceless (compared to Rodeo if you rode that), but you won't be disappointed by either Eagles Claw or Whirlwind!
March 5, 201411 yr comment_177687 I hope Whirlwind isn't too forceful, as the Top Buzz at Funderworld travelling fair was far too forceful and just hurt trying to hold your legs from swinging outwards so much... I actually love Samurai when it's run on a long enough setting, as it's so smooth and somewhat slower which guessing makes it more enjoyable for me.
March 6, 201411 yr comment_177712 It is somewhere in between, they have a great manual operator some of the time and cycles are generally short.
August 18, 201411 yr comment_189034 It seems that LWV have put whirlwind (Mondial topscan) up for sale. I can't understand this move as whirlwind is a popular ride and the best run topscan I've been on! Also, they have only had it for a few years.
August 18, 201411 yr comment_189035 It is a shame but I really don't see a long term future for Lightwater Valley. It is a very nice park and it has potential. It just doesn't seem to have the money behind it that it so rightly deserves. Removing one of their signature rides certainly isn't a good move though I could guess there is a reason behind this.
August 18, 201411 yr comment_189036 It really is a shame to see these smaller parks lose money over the greedier, bigger ones. It's one of the many reasons that I prefer to support the smaller businesses (when talking about theme parks) than merlin. Well, that and the fact that I tend to enjoy days at these parks more because I visit the merlin ones more often. Back on the subject of Whirlwind, I know that the park had to refurbish it earlier this year so maybe it cost too much? Whatever the reason, it's a shame to lose such a good flat ride.
