Sheepie
Well it's funny you say that actually, as Thorpe are the least secretive park when it comes to their future developments, so therefore, I find it quite ironic that we don't know what they are planning to do next year! Haha.I think the land that was previously used by the farm is too close to a residential area to build anything on it. I think I read that it was going to be flooded, so they could do more infilling nearer to the main park. Not sure where I read that though.I personally think that after 1009, major development will ease slightly, and as they've pretty much used all of their available land (without infilling more of course), they will have to think more carefully about where they're going to put things (wich is something they haven't really done in the past, if we're being honest here).I mean, come 2009, we will have four major coasters- which is pretty cool for any park. richy2001
yeah!you think, we've got stealth (the tallest and fastest coaster in the uk)nemesis inferno and Colossus (worlds 1st 10 looping coaster)and now the much awaited (sp?) new flying coaster!thorpe park have got the right idea for new rides in the next few years, it certainly has brought more people to the park for them and somehow, I dont think they're going to stop with their big ideas just yet?! MikeC
The Farm is too close to TASIS - The American School in Switzerland [Yes, it's not Switzerland here], and there are a lot of protected buildings, in Thorpe, and the farm. Possibly something towards corner of Norlands Road/A320.

I'm pretty sure Nemesis or Black Mamba didnt break any records, yet these 2 are classed as the 2 best inverted coasters and 2 of the best coasters of all time. Ohh and were not sure its going to be a flyer, we just think it will be, only Thorpe know for sure.
Sheepie
I think Rich was just passing a comment at the amount of development that Thorpe have seen, not that he only likes record breakers. And Nemesis was the first Inverted coaster in Europe at the time- but that's just me being pedantic, as it's slightly irrelevant really. G-Force Junkie
I agree that investment will slow down eventually until Merlin decides its at an acceptable level, I can see some flat rides being re-located in the nest few years, those currently in Lost City, I think the park will make more use of Neptunes Kingdom, I know its a more family orientated part of the park, but the beach area is only seasonal, and is probably open fully for about 30 days of the season if that, Depth Charge I'm afraid has had its day, it will only be a matter of time till the park turn their attention to this area....The water next to this area will be filled in, giving more Land space to create rides. The Entrance will be totally re-done, with the bridge widened for the increased amount of visiotrs, I expect X to be flatened sometime about 2012, with an inclusion of an LIM Coaster maybe. The area behind Nemesis, which borders the Water ski park will also be used to include maybe part of a new coaster layout, and Thorpe Farm, well who knows what there going to do with this area, but be sure, theres something in the pipeline. MikeC
There is no space behind Inferno. It's an access road.
G-Force Junkie
Ok, take my opinions with a pich of salt.....its what I would like it to be, theres no truth behind my logic, only dreaming......but maybe, one day Thorpe would purchase the water skiiing resort behind it, could you imagine what they could do with that hunk a chunk of land? MikeC
I dunno about Thorpe Waterski. The land there is pretty small, it's just all lakes tbh.

Knucklecoaster
Just to let everyone know I was the person who started this topic, I now have a differant username lol I personally think alot of xtra money will be available to the park for expansion once they make income from the hotel, so I think development of further rides will stall for about 3 or 4 yrs after next yrs coaster, but than once they get the hotel open around 2012 I'd imagine alot more money will start comming in! Will
That would defo happen if the hotel & waterpark are a success. E.g. think about 2010 coaster for Alton, which looks like their biggest project yet. A really-well themed coaster, that is both thrilling and breath-taking. Where would Alton have got the money for those investments. But for the hotel & waterpark to be a success, the park itself need a massive clean-up and to be re-done:Landscaping: Maybe Thorpe could get ride of Octopus Gardens and replace that area with a nice relaxing garden, whilst the kids have fun, the parents can relax and enjoy the jumping water fountains. Even a patch of green land, the type they have at the picnic area at CWoA would go far.Detail of the park: Massively clean-up and upgrade areas of the park, add nice touches and add themeing to the exisiting areas. Have something special in each area, something that is unique. Hotel & waterpark should only come when they have finished reclaiming treasure island and the land behind stealth/flying fish, then they can tidy the place up really nice. I can realistically see Thorpe becoming a masterpiece but in the future, not the near.
barley142007
Here's an interesting question, what does everyone think Thorpe Park will be like in 10 years time, barering in mind how far Thorpe has come in the last 5 years since the opening of Colossus, do you think we'll have many more coasters and thrill rides to look forward to in the next decade?? And do you think Thorpe Park will be much larger in area than it is now with newly themed areas & gardens? Hopefully, TP will give Colossus a paint.GET THE THEMING SORTED!And improve vistor "excitment"Put more thrilling rides in.....and stuff like that! Will
I expect Thorpe to still be around and for the park to have developed considerably - not just in the thrill rides that install but also in family rides and also in other forms of entertainment. Thorpe is what we call a Thrill Park, who specialise in building adrenaline-thrill and mild-thrill rides. I see Thorpe Park building more thrill-type coasters but I feel that they will take careful planning when deciding. Thorpe Park is the nation's thrill capital (as they say) and they should do this, by adding thrill coasters that offer different types of thrilling experiences. All I really want at Thorpe is, a Woodie, a Flyer, a Floorless / Skyloop X-Car Coaster and a Hyper Coaster. Any of those infact I will be satiasfied since Ive never been on a Hyper before. Gwazi (Woodie), AIR (Flyer) and Kraken (Floorless) were amazing. Ive friends that have been on Abismo (X-car Skyloop) which said the ride is actually bloody scary because the lifthill inverts you at 151ft, its around 1500ft long and has RPH of 550. Knucklecoaster
I think after SAW things will slow down for a few years until the opening of the proposed hotel, and does anyone think Thorpe could benefit from The Olympic Games?Having said that someone on hear mentioned they spoke to a guy who works in Thorpe Park and he was told that Thorpe Park are opening another thrill ride next year, and another rollercoaster in 2011. sam 795
I know people say there are already ones at cwoa and alton but a flat like top spin and another detonator tower in the saw area-making it horror town or something would be good-if they could make a family ride island somewhere and move octopus gardens etc there it makes more space for thrill rides in the main park.there are so many possibilities

JoshC.
Why does everyone feel the need to extend SAW's island with more rides?Samurai could do with fitting in with CC, but I don't want it to go with SAW. As for adding a new ride all together, I don't see the point, the brand is too strong for flat ride and wouldn't be that good. The only other thing that could work is a dark ride themed to SAW, but I doubt Lionsgate would want to have another ride themed to SAW a Thorpe... Sidders
JoshC.4 speaks sense! He's right you know, Samurai shouldn't be themed to a torture device or whatever, not all Canada Creek has to be SAW themed.
