JackR
Saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows earlier, and it was potentially one of the worst movies I have ever seen in a cinema. That's not so much due to the film, but because of the circumstances I was viewing it under. I haven't seen the first Sherlock Holmes, and seeing the second one is a direct continuation, I will admit the film would not have made a lot of sense. Secondly, there was a group of little sh*ts running up and down the isle of the cinema for the duration of the film. The scrawny, pre-pubescent little f*ckers we screaming, jumping over seats and throwing pop corn at each other for a long time before they left. By now the whole film had been ruined for me because I didn't understand anything going on. The parts of the film I did concentrate on watching were in fact very good, and the action scenes were very intriguing and had me on the end of my seat. The ending had an surprising twist and there was the odd comical moment which all added up to make fairly good film. To me however, the film lacked any clarity which I considered a negative aspect. Everything seemed very metaphorical and the way Holmes' character was portrayed really contributed to clarifying the synopsis of the whole film. It's hard to explain without spoilers but certain aspects about Holmes' character and the metaphors used to symbolism him explained why the plot took the route it did. Again, I would be able to elaborate what I mean if I actually understood the movie, but from the parts I did watch, I saw it to be very cleverly thought out. The way certain plans devised by Holmes and Watson were executed was very impressive and the metaphors used to describe the Protagonist were very well thought out. I just feel for those who haven't watched the first film and those who may not be able to understand the background of the film, it may have been a load of action scenes and the odd comical moment end on end with a vague story line being followed. Over all, I would rate Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows 6/10 for its some what confusing story line (main reasons stated above) but I would jump at the chance to watch both of the films so I can fully understand them for myself. They both seem to have potential to be very good films if you have the mindset to understand them, but unfortunately, until I get the opportunity to do just that, I will stick by what I have said above. Smidget
Saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows earlier, and it was potentially one of the worst movies I have ever seen in a cinema.:oI saw that with Ian yesterday, and whilst I thought it was rather good, the first one was miles better. Yes the plot was a continuation of the first film, however, one does not need to have watched the first film in order to understand the second, as references to the first film were limited. I personally thought the story telling in this film was far more confusing than in the first. There were moments during A Game Of Shadows where I didn't have a clue what was going on, and I found the execution of the film to be rather weak compared to its prequel. That, however, does not deter from the fact that I still largely enjoyed the film, particularly the humour (Watson drunk is one to watch out for). The actual plot itself is remarkably clever, although, as stated, somewhat hard to follow, unlike in the first film which seemingly had a much better flow throughout. I know that Ian found the slow motion shots an annoyance in that they broke the flow of the film (those who have seen either of the films will know what I am talking about). In the first film, they aided the story telling, whereas in the second they were largely overused, particularly towards the end. I personally didn't find them too bad, but I do agree with Ian that less would have been more.Overall I would rate the film a 7 or 8 out of 10, mainly due to the execution of the story telling. The film's saving grace was, in my opinion, its fantastic use of humour, and surprising, if somewhat corny, ending.

Cornflakes
Saw Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows today and I rather enjoyed it, As with the first film, the fight scenes were really well done (Oh the joys of 1000+ Frames per second filming!) and the story was good, also I loved the ending, I urge you all to see this film if you enjoyed the first and have the time to see it. tomathy
Me and two of my best mates have Cineworld unlimited cards and so go to see pretty much everything (apart from the kids films because I can't stand them). So today me and one of my friends totted along to the cinema and saw the new Mission Impossible film Ghost Protocol which was surprisingly funny thanks to Simon Pegg. I don't want to give away too much about the film but there is quite a twist during the middle of the film and another one near the end. The action scenes were well done but sometimes felt a little too short and a bit rushed (some slow-mo like in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows would have been appreciated at points). Overall I really enjoyed the film even if the ending was a little tacky, but that's to be expected.8/

Cornflakes
Just watched Donkey Punch. It was one weird film...For a film called "Donkey punch" I'm not surprised. Odd choice of subject matter tbh.
JackR
Right, I'm gunna elaborate on why I didn't particularly like Donkey Punch as yesterday I didn't go into any detail. This contains spoilers through out so be warned :ph34r:The main negative of this film was that there was no real story line. I could vaguely relate to a simple synopsis but there was no consistency or strength in what was going on. I saw the film as a novelty. Nobody has ever created a film about breaking a girls neck whilst having sex with her, and for that reason alone, I decided to watch it. It started off with some girls going to Mallorca and partying before they met some boys with a luxury yacht, which in its self was not even that intriguing. I was only watching the film to see this infamous 'Donkey Punch' and I was quite frankly wasting my time waiting for it to happen. Then the film takes a turn for the worst, everybody gets high to their eyeballs on Ecstasy and starts having sex. Of all the 18 rated films I have seen with 'Sexual Scenes' this is the only one where you can literally see every thing going on. The girls boobs are out and you can see the young adults having full frontal sex before one of them is killed. After that, the film loses its touch, and the story pretty much dies. The dead girls body is disposed of and everybody starts killing each other. I got the feeling that the writers of the film didn't know what to do, so used the worst ways to die as an excuse. Men being shot with fireworks and blowing up, slaughtered with boat motors or girls just throwing themselves off board are to me, are incredibly cheesy and only lead to less characters being present to carry on the already weak story. It's obvious that the film was only made because a girl had her back vertebrate snapped during anal sex, and I don't think even the best writers could come up with a good enough story to lead on from that. The scenes lack consistency and tension and the most cringe worthy part of the film was when the protagonist Tammy, cut her armpit on a disposable razor at the start. This film would be a 1/10 IMO for its poorly executed scenes and inconsistent story line, but for the novelty of the pornographic/murder scene, I will give it a 3.5/10. Benin
Well after that strangeness of a rather repugnant sounding film. Here's my take on Sherlock Homes - Game of Shadows. The first film is really enjoyable, and the second film continues this with aplomb, with the relationship between Holmes and Watson crafted brilliantly between everyone involved on the film, with Downey Jr. and Law being amazing as the duo.Of course a strong villain like Moriarty needed a strong actor, and this was definitely provided by an excellent Jared Harris. Certainly provided a foil for Holmes in an entertaining way.Elsewhere, Stephen Fry decided to appear and say hello (with arguable more than was neccessary), and attempted to steal the show by being, well Stephen Fry.Story wise, much like the first we plodded from place to place with it all linking up in the end. It is very much the same thing as the first film but if you enjoyed that then you will certainly enjoy this one. Great set pieces (the armory and forest scene being stand outs) and acting make it just as good as the first.8/

Mark9
So after 23 years, I've finally watched the Back to the Future trilogy properly. I loved every single part of them. When I was younger, I remember watching the end of Back to the Future: Part 3 because I liked the train crash. But seeing the three films consecutively really showed how clever, concise and constructed the scripts are. Time travel stories generally fall apart if the conviction in the writing isn't there. Whilst there are a million plot flaws in the three films, they are so well hidden by the acting throughout that it's all hardly noticeable. My particular favourite part of the three is Part two with the interaction from the first film. You'd imagine the two to have been filmed at the same time, but no, four years seperates them. So yeah, really enjoyed the screentime.Next was Disneys 2005 film, Home on the Range. Whilst nothing is particularly wrong with it, it really lacks the Disney sparkle. The whole way though, I could see exactly where the film was going to go next. Even Judi Dench couldn't save the film. And finally, the 2005 film version of Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. I had seen it before and didn't think much of it. My opinion of it has slightly risen but I find it's disjointed plot and lack of structure quite off-putting. Smidget

Benin
As part of my end of exams celebrations, an ARNOLD weekend was determined...Everyone's favourite Austrian body-builder turned actor turned governor, has had sooo many classic films, few of which I have actually seen... So of course, it was set into motion from Thursday that Arnold would be viewed... A lot...As iffy as Arnold is as an actor, he has featured in a very varied amount of films, of course, many of them are essentially him beating the odds and destroying as many henchman as possible, but that's what he's best at... But with since things like Predator, Kindergarten Cop and Total Recall to list a few, his resume is a mixture of 80s action cheese, comedies and some of the best one-liners in cinematic history...TO ARNOLD! GET TO DA CHOPPPPPPPPPA!

Benin
The MuppetsAhhh the Muppet films are very hit and miss in general, with such classics as Christmas Carol to iffy ones like Muppets From Space, however, this film is much more a homage towards the original Show, which only helps the film to become very good...It's amazing how emotional this film can be considering 99% of the cast are made of felt and ping pong balls, yet due to the addition of Walter, Jason Segal and Amy Adams, an extra dimension to the film is added, and with the great acting from Segal and the relatively under-used Adams gives a human element to the proceedings...Having had some experience growing up with the Muppets, this film is definitely made for the older Muppet fans, whilst introducing younger ones to the chaos... Some great scenes, some great cameos makes it an excellent family film that many will enjoy...8/
Mark9
The MuppetsChris and I have been waiting for this ever since the first trailers came out last year. With frustration, it's been coming out all over the world.. we seemed to be last to get the film. But it was well worth the wait.Laughs a minute, tears, memorable songs and all the gang back for one last show. We loved it and so did my new Kermit friend. The Muppets - 9/
