  1. The biggest problem with this refurbishment is they seem to have spend the money in all the wrong places. Of all the ride’s flaws, why’d they bother fixing up the zombie tomb at the entrance? It’s looked cheap since the beginning of time, reparing part of it wasn’t going to fix that. Demolishing it really would’ve been better, as it makes the ride seem super tacky, hence most guests don’t bother riding. The space it’s in would serve much better as a proper entrance sign. Likewise, the money for those TV’s in the queue was a huge waste, they’re too bright, and distracting from the proper portraits. While on their own they’re a nice touch, they certainly should not have been a priority. The lighting in most places is still tragic, especially the timing. The great hall demon is only lit up towards the end of its movement, yet we see the whole thing reset. The same can be said for plenty of the effects. I think the only one that disappeared on time was electric bill? On the topic of the ride’s exterior- while it’s pleasing to see they’re now diverting guests though the woodland queue, rather than just shoving them though by the side of the house, the entrance really could benefit from having a proper sign to make it stand out, it sort of just seems like a gap in the hedge at the minute. Oh, and please change the name. No guest reads “Duel” and thinks ‘ghost train’. If it had a name that actually told you what the ride was, maybe it’d be more popular

    Colossus

Shoutout to the guy that managed to reboot the entire ride just by holding one of the gates open as it tried to close today

Symbolica was super clever! The scenes were really nice and I loved the interactive aspect to it. One point, we were at a musical section and we could control the instruments playing. The pre-show and entrance was spectacular and the queue line is stupidly well themed. I was completely immersed. I would have liked the dancing scene at the end to have gone on a bit longer though. Maybe a bit more spinning, but I understand it’s a ride for everyone, incl. young children.

  4. Dymchurch reminds me of my holidays to the caravan in Kent when I was a wee boy. I got stuck on the ghost train there and had to be escorted off. Good times. Good read.

    The Swarm

Have The Swarm's fire and water effects been seen at all this year? Noticed the fire engine playing a recorded explosion sound every time a train was about to drop, which I don't remember being there before. On a more positive note this ride was really flying last night - I don't get people who say the ride lacks force.

-> Don't queue for the monorail, walk to the entrance. Save 20 minutes -> Buy tickets online, print ticket out at home. Save 30 minutes -> Don't head to the new ride straight away. Instead hit Oblivion, The Smiler, Rita, Thirteen. Save 3 hours and ten minutes ->Head to Wicker Man later on when the queue is likely to be lower. You haven't then only got on two rides, you've managed to hit at least four of the major rollercoasters, probably got on Nemesis just as it opens, saving a 35 minute queue and have probably managed to get in Duel, Rapids and the Mine Train because you didn't just head to the new thing, remembered its still going to be there 6 hours later after you've entered the park and woah and betide, managed to get on more then two rides, haven't had to go on Twitter to moan at the Towers team and had a much better day because you haven't been following the crowds all day. Time saved, 4 hours and 35 minutes. This is how Mega-Lite should have gone around the theme park that day.
