  1.

Agreed. It's pretty simple to sort between rides with good/bad throughput these days though! :P

    Great Throughput:

    • SAW - The Ride
    • X
    • Loggers Leap
    • Rumba Rapids (sometimes)

    Not-so-great Throughput:

    • Colossus
    • Nemesis Inferno
    • THE SWARM

Even in terms of hitting each ride's individual targets this is... a bit wrong. X's throughputs have been dire whilst The Swarm's been doing really well (regardless of how many trains have been provided by engineering).

  2. At the end of the day (heh) you aren't going to motivate a team to provide a high throughput by saying 'go fast enough to make sure the train is just far away enough so it doesn't stack', you're just going to want them to go as quickly as they bloody can. Especially considering the amount of other delays that can happen in The Swarm's station. For example if a guest has walked up the exit (happens a lot), if you've sent the train before the second has reached the brakes then as a host you'll have time to get rid of them and get back to your button before the other train stops, meaning there was no added delay at all. It massively minimises any added delays. Doing things like that is what will get you 1200+, so yes, there is always a point to going as quickly as you can.

  3. Early Ratatouille thoughts

Really like it. It isn't perfect and has issues with the illusion of the screens being sometimes ruined by the floor in front of you being too visible, and it could have been an almost perfect attraction if it wasn't for it. A shame for lost extra potential I guess, but it's still a (MUCH-needed) very fun and very re-rideable E-Ticket attraction for Studios and I seem to enjoy it more with every ride. The whole area is gorgeous, the music and presentation of the ride is great and the trackless ride system is a-maaazing. Rat cars are so cute! So on the whole - flawed but still fab in my opinion.

Bistroz Chez Remy is lovely (if a bit expensive) too, menu's very limited but the food itself was really nice and there's a good atmosphere in there.

  4. On swarm there's 56 people on the ride at once and a potential 100/200 people in the station(it is really cramped sometimes). They have a bag drop which works, I don't see why loggers can't aswell.

    Lol 'works'.

I'm aware of how many people are in The Swarm's station, and you yourself acknowledged the lack of space in the Loggers station effectively ruling out an option like The Swarm has so I have no idea why you even brought that up ;) Locker options are available and the best option for water rides if you don't want anything to get wet, yes I know they charge but that's another debate entirely. And a bag room is never, ever the answer.

  5. What I hate about loggers is the fact you have to take your bags on. It's the same as Tutuki splash at Portaventura. I hate getting my bag wet which contains my phone etc. really puts me off going on the ride in general and bag boxes are seriously needed in the station.

Difficult when there can potentially be around 100 people on the ride at once...

I guess I can't really remove his post so the game is now open! I'm going to allow it since everyone has their roles EXCEPT DAN WHO NEEDS TO CLEAR HIS PMs OUT

Oops I didn't even know this was a thing, done

On a positive note I found loads of old angry messages from Jord, bant.

  7. Shall do a report for the summer nights

The first ride I went on was Nemesis Inferno as I didnt get on it during the day as the queue was bloody massive!! So I headed for front row and she rode really well! Queue was a bit long since it seemed loads of people headed for it! Then I went onto SAW and saw at dusk is really amazing! Then it was back on SAW again haha! Then I headed over to stealth for front row again (I queue up for front row everytime now!) and it was awesome! Then thorpe park really became a paradise in the dark :D it was dead and I headed for SWARM and it was a short queue and I queued up for the 5th row and it was amazing! I then headed to SAW and It was amazing! The atmosphere of the ride at night is super creepy espically with Billy the puppet popping up every so often and talking to you! Then I headed to swarm and went on it backwards and I forgot how scary it actually is on the lifthill there is nothing to hold onto except the bars but you get an amazing view! Then I headed over to stealth and the ride crew were really intracting with the riders and people queueing they turned off the countdown and the lights so people didnt know when it was launching haha! Overall summer nights is a brilliant event but I do think they should only sell a set amount of tickets on the summer nights (say like 1,000 on friday and 500 on saturday) but overall its a bloody wonderful event and I look forward to attending next year :D

Which day did you visit/what time did you go on Stealth?

  8. I more meant in the terms that you don't need to be as quick as stealth with ride hosts running down the station. Yes they should be fast but they don't need to be running and trying to get 15 seconds.

True that the running isn't essential, but it only happens on Stealth because the hosts have the ability to do so. On Swarm the speed and awareness is still necessary to make up for the amount of extra hold ups that happen in the station compared to Stealth; Guests being too big more often, guests struggling to get in the seats, guests still standing in the station when a train is ready, guests walking up the exit, wheelchair guests holding up the gates being opened etc...
  9. Cant be done in 15 seconds. I know the ride host your on about because he was saying they were going to launch in 15 seconds with or without you. Swarm and loading isn't essential to be quick as the throughput is easy to achieve because of the dispatch interval is quite large.

Isn't essential to be quick? How would it not be? No, it isn't too difficult to get 1000 an hour on Swarm. But by being speedy (consistently sending trains before the second reaches the magnetic brakes, which requires 25/30ish second checks from every host and the operator) you can get 1200+, so why would you not try and push it?
  10. Really?

Stealth closed more often than not, Samurai down on two separate occasions, Slammer, Quantum being closed a lot, Zodiac being closed a lot, Tidal Wave closed for a whole day (on one of the hottest days of the year!), also broken down for half a day on a different day, downtime on Rush, one arm operation on Rush, Dodgems closed, Tea Cups closed, breakdown on Rumba, several breakdowns and evacuations from Storm Surge...

Not all in one day, obviously!

How bad have the other years been?  :o

I struggle to see how Stealth is closed more often than not when Sunday was its first full day of downtime of 2014. Storm Surge was behaving fine all year until last week. And Dodgems hasn't closed once... also like that you added in Tidal being closed for half of a day and 'breakdown on Rumba' as reasons why Thorpe are apparently having a bad 2014.

Compared to 2007 when there were frequently 3-5 rides shut every day... yeah it's been not too bad.

EDIT: Also it was two weeks between Quantum and Stealth not two days. Detonator, Zodiac and Tidal had one day out each. Not that it matters but heyhoo.

  11. In a 3 hour event when the queue to get in is 1 hour and you travel 3 hours there and back to find 15 minute queues when advertised as no queues, I think I have a right to moan. Last year the ride team changed when summer nights started as we had to wait for stealth to be checked and tested.

I'm sure Thorpe can afford to start summer nights 30 minutes later. First impressions should be the best impression, not oh sorry we aren't ready yet.

But why would anyone travel 3 hours there and back to go to a 3 hour event where only 6-8 rides are open?
  12. Carnage is it? Surely it should be accredited that things didn't go smoothly, they extended opening by an hour, and despite having issues all day, actually opened Stealth, weather it was for a day, or for twenty minutes during the time extension. Could have easily left it closed. Good on the park tbh there.

Carnage in this instance meaning crazy good... why would I ever think it was a bad thing?
