  2. If these trains turn out to be the real ones then it will be fantastic - lap bars!

    Logger's Leap

I agree totally, there needs to be a new tunnel if this one is being ripped out! Even if they don't make it as long as the previous one they should at least cover the drop!
  4. Ok thanks, just wanted to be sure
  5. Has this happened to anyone else on here? It happened when we were at Alton towers this Scarefest. Basically my brother's shoulder harness on Oblivion was completley secure and tight when leaving the station - we had pushed it down so there was no room at all for it to "move" like you get sometimes on it. By the end of the ride his harness had "clicked open" (for want of a better expression) and there was now loads of room in it - he told me it had happened while going down the drop. The only thing that I can think of is that the belt was really tight on him leaving the station so maybe the pressure pushing up on the bar made it open to the next level? We did go on the ride after that but we do regret not telling anyone who was working on the ride.

    Logger's Leap

It's a family ride, so Thorpe won't bother... A shame really
  7. ALL OF THESE ARE BASED ON MY EXPERIENCES THIS YEAR: Paid: The Sanctuary Free: Terror of the towers Overall: The Sanctuary 1. The Sanctuary 2. Terror of the towers 3. Carnival of screams 4. Asylum 5. The Curse 7. Experiment 10 8. SAW Alive 9. The Passing (What a load of rubbish! imo) Asylum would be my overall favourite maze if it was consistent in being good. I feel it works best when they use the other (dim) lights as well as the strobes and when they only have a bit of mist in there, not so much so that you can't even see what is supposed to be scaring you. This year, the first weekend of Fright nights saw the maze running brilliantly, however by half term they had completley filled it with smoke and fog and it was pointless because you couldn't see a thing. It is also annoying when (on some occasions) you get to the end corridor and there is no actor wielding a chainsaw because they are on their break (or something like that!) As for The Sanctuary, absoloutley brilliant all the way through but it did lack a "final scare"

I would like the cars to remain backwards - in fact the actual coaster left as it is. But I would like to see a complete refurb of the special effects, queueline and building in general - including the exterior. Go back to the theme being a computer virus but THEME IT PROPERLY! Maybe something like "Virus detected: Do not proceed" on the chainlift from speakers etc... Also the building should go back to being pitch black, but the stops should have tunnels round them with lighting effects. (Similar to the tunnels on the trim breaks on Astro storm at Brean leisure park) There could be a few random strobes around the building though that only go off as the train goes past them etc...
  9. I prefer the scarefest mazes - I find them far more themed and more immersive. The level of scares in Thorpe's mazes is always hit and miss as well, whereas I don't think this is the case with the scarefest ones as much.
  10. Went to Alton towers for 2 and a half days. (30th, 31st October and half of 1st November.) RIDECOUNT (Over 2 and a half days:) - Nemesis x12 - Th13teen x2 - Oblivion x3 - Air x1 - Sonic spinball x1 - Nemesis: Sub Terra x2 - Hex x3 - Duel x9 - Congo river rapids x1 - The flume x1 - Ripsaw x1 - Submission x1 - Enterprise x1 MAZE COUNT (Over 2 and a half days:) - Terror of the towers x2 - The Sanctuary x2 - Carnival of screams x2 (Sanctuary and Carnival of screams were at a discounted price the second day of going in them (1st November))
  11. To be honest I thought that Hellgate was much better than The Passing!
  12. Right then, my review of the mazes I went in today: Maze count: The Asylum x2 Experiment 10 x1 The Passing x1 For a good quality maze from start to finish, I would reccomend The Asylum. (Cannot comment on Curse or Saw alive this year because I didn't go in them - but I will be in Half term when I go to Fright nights again.)
  13. I am going to Fright nights this Sunday so I will review all of the mazes on this forum. (Could someone tell me how to add spoiler tags please? Much appreciated )
  14. Different people have different opinions. Personally I think that X:/No way out a great ride, but it has more potential in terms of effects etc... As for Storm surge, I'm not bothered really as to what they do with it. The fact that it usually has a big queue just means less people on the other rides in my opinion (If Storm surge still had functional spinners on the slide and it wasn't so ugly then I would like it - when it opened last year I thought it was good but now that it doesn't spin it is completley boring.)
  15. I can only guess that it means 64 people on the ride at any one time? (When all trains are full)
  16. Thank you for the review. Are there still actors with gas masks on in Experiment 10 like last year? Because for me really that was the main fear factor of the maze. Also is the queueline music for The Asylum still the same?
  17. Does anyone know the on the day price for The Passing? Is it £3 or more?

    Slammer

This is great news that Slammer is back in action - it will be a must do when I visit for Fright nights!
  19. Maybe halloween songs around the park, but in the maze queues? No way, they need to keep the theme music!
  20. They had better not get rid of the Asylum queueline theme...
  21. Thank you for the updates When is the construction of the track supposed to begin?
  22. Yes I was at Thorpe today as well - very quiet with minimal queues
  23. The well themed exit to Asylum has had it's doors replaced. I went today and they were putting on doors with no theming whatsoever - hopefully this will change before next weekend. The Asylum entrance also has fake barbed wire across it now - an improvement.
  24. Trip report from today. (Sunday 7th October) Park was fairly quiet resulting in quite a good ride count. We also had a look at the construction of the Fright night mazes. RIDECOUNT: The Swarm x8 X:/No way out x5 Nemesis Inferno x3 Saw: The ride x2 Stealth x2 Colossus x1 Vortex x1 HIGHLIGHTS: - Finally getting on a Train on The Swarm where the fire effects go off! It is amazing seeing it both offride and onride. The fire effects were going off every 5 or so trains all day - A good ridecount including most rides in the Front seat at least once. - Park not busy at all - The Swarm being walk on for 5 out of our 8 rides today. - Fright nights mazes are having their finishing touches put on them now. LOWLIGHTS: - Vortex broke down today and on our ride (after it re-opened) it was not going to full height - making it not worth going on tbh. - They were replacing the well themed double doors (exit of Asylum) with new ones that were just plain wood. Hopefully these get themed at some point before next week. - Colossus having a temporary delay due to "foilage in the way." It has just been closed for essential maintenance! Surley they would have checked then? - No music in the X:/ No way out queueline. Overall a great day and I can't wait for Fright nights!
