  1. Without wanting to derail your point, this isn't really fair. The other lot royally ballsed up the economy and this lot do actually seem to be doing something to fix it, even if I can't agree with some of the ways they are going about it. May I suggest you replace that line with the privatisation, demoralisation and general destruction of our police force? That should be worth getting upset about in my bias view. Please continue bashing the bashers...

    This Or That

    Pepsi (max) Haribo or Moaom?
  3. This does look great, and this makes it look even better... Lapbars! The superior restraint method. I don't know how accurate this is but it should be a pretty decent fun ride
  4. I went to Chessington with my parents earlier this year. The first ride we went on was Vampire (as I'm sure is the same for many visitors) and the first comment my Dad had to say about the whole park that day while walking through that empty queue line was something like "This hasn't been painted for ages has it? What a dump". Great first impression huh? As ever, it could so easily (and cheaply) be wery good. It has dense foliage making it feel quite secluded apart from the Vampire flying overhead, it has a grand entrance begging to be used, it has no cattlepen and it has the space and design that could accommodate nice simple but cohesive theming pieces building to your visit to the Vampires lair. What it actually has is a messy understated entrance, horrible cheap metal railings at various angles in a combination of three variously warn through clashing colours and bare metal, a patchwork of poorly repaired flooring, rubbish (actual ready for the bin rubbish) that once was theming littering the edges making no sense and bringing nothing with it and a station that although much improved from a couple of years back is still a shadow of its former self and far too light and noisy to be atmospheric. There's only one reason it is like this, an absolute lack of care or effort from the park. The management must have walked that queue and thought 'ah, that'll do'. Well it shouldn't.

    The Smiler

Is that as a result of some freakishly huge sudden rain fall or just normal weather?

    Banned for missing someone out.
  7. size doesn't matter, it's what you do with it that counts.

    The Banning Game

Banned for not liking sheep, not even sexy ones like this.
  9. Couple of bits... Looks like the operator of the hearts and diamonds above has been a naughty boy before. The kid hurt on the American spinning penny is making a recovery. Not really a ride, but I've always thought those bungee trampoline things look like they have a lot of things to go wrong on them, sometimes they do.
  10. I enjoyed Apocalypse for its unusual seating (my testicles didn't) and height but the actual drop has nothing on detonator, not much does.
  11. There is one with a little clip on this post, the same sort that one of the smaller UK parks installed last year I believe (Lava or something? Where's that?). But it looks to be a failure of the ride itself rather than the braking system, if that makes sense? You have more chance of being ejected from your seat than the ride failing to stop, still unlikely though.

    News Desk

Glad this has been a popular move so far! There's a bit of sorting of stray topics in the wrong sections to shift about but I've just done a fair bit and we'll trawl through over the next couple of days and tidy it up. We'll also be taking a look at the off topic section as well. Ideas, suggestions and feedback always welcome!
  13. As I'm sure you have noticed there has been some reorganisation of the forums to try and tidy things up, make it a bit easier to navigate and help keep things flowing. This 'Parks, Rides and Coaster News' thread has become a bit of a catch all topic and thrived while individual parks threads have died off as a result. The problem with this is news of fairly big projects get knocked back a page or two as other things come along and then get forgotten, often never to be mentioned again when there is plenty of exciting stuff out there to follow. So as a bit of a trial we'll lock this topic. If you have some new ride news you'd like to share please post it in the relevant park topic in either UK Parks or Rest Of World as appropriate, if the park doesn't exist then please create a new topic (for the park as a whole rather than the development itself is probably best). For things like AECOM results above and the annual Mitch Hawker results a new topic in General Discussion makes sense. Locking one of the most popular topics might not be the best idea but we'll see how it goes. As ever we love a bit of feedback either here, here or by PM. Happy posting!
  14. Was thinking the same, I'm really hoping that is part of Jumbos. Maybe they are developing their oh so successful Dragon River rooftop technique of painting a scene on a cloth. Draw the rocks on, they'll never rot!

That doesn't seem entirely fair, especially as nearly every review I've read mentions the marmaliser is barely noticeable on ride save for one headchopper, whereas the two examples you've used make their respective rides. Again, not that I've ridden, so I'd hardly know.

According to TT Facebook it is down yet again.
  18. A glance through shows the document has the same proposal description as before (Layout and scale for a 250 bed hotel, incorporating leisure suite and spa, conference facilities, restaurants, bars and parking). The change in conditions they are submitting for is "To allow progression of the scheme on a phased basis along with some minor changes to the layout of the footprint of the hotel" (not altering the approved area of 8,8095 sq m). This document lists the amendments in regards to the phased application, but gives no indication of what those phases might be. Other than the parking amendment splitting the phase 1 requirement of 248 cars from the whole development of 375 cars, which may give some indication of the size of the phase 1 (around two thirds of the total proposal). There are a few documents that will not open for me, there might be more explicit detail in there somewhere, but overall the point of this seems to be to test the market with a smaller development while leaving options open to expand quite quickly. EDIT The fourth plan on this link show phase 2 to be the northernmost block beyond the health club, the tip of the westerly wing towards the water and the whole of the southernmost wing towards the water. Seems strange to spread the phase across the site like this, you'd think it would be easier to lop off a single chunk.
  19. This thread may have started in 2006 and we still don't have a permanent hotel, but the previous plans have been resubmitted with 'Minor Amendments'. I have not looked through yet to see what those amendments might be, but I guess minor must mean not much. Could it finally be happening, or is this just a way to stop the approved plans lapsing?
  20. Never been, looks good. The second trip report in about a week that has made me want to visit somewhere mostly for chocolate based reasons! English chocolate houses - do they still exist and I've never been invited? They should, I'd be there! edit - just realised I have been to Belgium with college about 18 years ago, but we went to a dirty port instead of a beautiful city. Did take in the Stella factory though, which was most welcome to a bunch of thirsty children.
  21. They had the same thing at all times for a few years until last season I believe, hopefully it is a sign of good customers service and transparency more than a sign of more closures planned.
  22. I can't do photoshop, but you get the idea.
  23. You appear to have handled that spiteing better than I would have. Feel for you!
