I am pluk, as I have no imagination. I've picked players based purely on my inability to be able to say their name, this has led to an exotic sounding but, I suspect, crap squad.

Girl injured by lighting bar coming swinging free What the hell sort of ride is this anyway...

Lets not build anything ever then, eh? This country is a shambles when it comes to planning. I do wonder though how much Merlin shoot themselves in the foot with with these problems with their tight opening hours, dumping all their traffic out right on top of rush hour. Extending the hours out a bit to spread the pain into quieter roads would surely help.

It was incredibly similar to have at the same park, but was slightly different. They were both 'Jet Star' models, but one was a 'II' and the other a 'III'. Don't ask me what the actual differences were though, as someone who rode them both plenty of times I can't remember there being any!
-
Because many people love them, including me! Having a ride like these that you actually take control of is great fun, better than many of the passive bigger rides where you just sit there.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-28783713 Blackpool have donated some of their old surplus illuminations to Dreamland, which is jolly nice of them and should look pretty good.

If the problem is the regulators not being happy with the protection for riders I presume this is simply the quickest fix possible to get the thing open. I'll expect a cage around the drop cars soon...
-
They were running simultaneously when it first opened it and have implemented this since then? The (even more-so in the USA) mythical 'health and safety' would not tell them to do this! This is their own current choice of solution to some problem. They may have designed it with a massive flaw then, that only came to light late on? I'll bet there is a fix to whatever it is coming, they would not carry on with that set up long term. Unless one ride intrinsically interferes with the other in a way that can not be overcome, in which case they should tear it out and ask for their money back!

It does look amazing, and goes onto the ever growing 'one day' list. It must be time for the UK to address its lack of Mack, anyone know how they compare cost wise to the omnipresent B&M/Inamin/Gurst trio that seem to have had a monopoly here between them in recent years? There must be a reason no one has gone for a big Mack here.
-
Surely it can not have been planned that way, or permanent? To have two major attractions in a park that can not run simultaneously is truly moronic.
-
That'll be the operator's choice, seen plenty of Tagadas in the UK with people up and about on them. As long as it does nothing to send people over the edge and off the actual ride 'health and safety' do not dictate how the ride is run.
-
I suspect the person who came up with the list has never been on a coaster, or they'd have spotted their formula was broken. Obviously this list is created with total impartiality by Trinity Mirror Group, arch rivals of News International who have a long term promotional relationship with Merlin and who's coasters come off inexplicably poorly.

Your Favourite Flat Ride and Rollercoaster Manufacturer

Pinfari, because without them crappy piers around the world would be empty. Toss up between Mack and B&M really, but both are more than capable of turning out some massive turd occasionally. For flats the big metal HUSS name plate stamped on a ride was always a sign that great things were about to happen when I was young, it's probably the ride brand I was first ever aware of. -
Doesn't mean that at all, the interior just bolts together and is easily replaced. I expect to see the name gone this year, but the maze, in essence, to remain.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/family-left-stranded-top-ferris-3997887 A non-news story, family claim to be stuck for 15 mins as the park is shut around them. Pretty funny really!

Knowing this, what I've always wondered is why is the computer programmed to care about the synch? My presumption is the structure could not handle the force of both swings going in the same direction on the same side and simply fall over? But we know the ride can and does operate on one swing, so it's not that the ride needs to counter balance itself entirely. So there should not be a problem unless the ride is ever powering itself in the same direction on the same 'half' of the ride - a situation it is surely not going to get into during a 4 swing duration. So is the computer frantically trying to overcome a problem that isn't going to happen in the programmed time, or am I not understanding something about the mechanics or physics of what the ride is doing?
-
People only thought it was with three people because that's what someone put on here, not because they think they know how to operate one! 10 does seem excesive to me, sounds like a lot of waiting about between goes, but without having done it I suppose I wouldn't know.

But the project is well started already? The real effort is on the rides themselves, which need a lot of restoring and a lot has been done. They are basically travelling rides so won't need much groundwork, the site does need work but it will not be much more than 'concrete with a very very sorry looking Wooden Coaster in the middle' with rides on it, especially in the early phases. It was never a pretty place, even in its heyday. And if you think heritage rides are too niche you've not been near Carters Steam Fair on a sunny afternoon! There's too much invested in this for it not to open now, if it can be made to work in the longer term is just impossible to say. I'd like to hope it can.

Motorised water-sports would be great, bring something pretty unique to a theme park environment and help the place live up to it's 'resort' naming attempt. Pay per go obviously, so that should cover the insurance costs etc. I doubt the neighboring water ski place would be too pleased though! Edit: actually, why couldn't they be brought on park as a franchisee? Sure it could be mutually beneficial to them both.
-
Got to be honest, I'd never even heard of this place. Most intrigued by Thor's Hammer though, I've thought for a long time that as technology moves on a cut price Spiderman type ride should be possible and within our parks budgets. So do you think it would be possible to bring that ride/system up to decent standard, or does the cheaper kit seem to be intrinsically flawed in some way that means it's really a non-starter without the big bucks? Without knowing anything much about that park, surely they are running with development budgets less than the likes of Merlin. I so want a Spiderman type ride on these shores, but it has to be done well to be worthwhile.

The 'Definitely 100% Totally Going to Happen' London Resort

Sorry if you don't like the response, but if you are going to post in such a patronising, 'know it all' and abrasive kind of way that's the sort response you'll get, both here on the internet and in the real world. Discussing it is great. Having someone state as fact what the park will be and then stating why it will fail with some more (I'm quite certain wrong) opinion as fact is less so. Assuming the other is thick? What like thinking it would be necessary to explain to people what the words 'theme' and 'park' mean? Or that Walt Disney had a little something to do with theme parks? We must all be real dim, huh? Now that's a decent point, a discussion to be had (but look back at what you wrote first time, it's nothing like the same thing!). I'd say you can have a theme park without a coaster, but it would be a very bad idea. Coasters are an intrinsic part of peoples expectations at a theme park, they'd surely be disappointed not to find one? And I'd say a place without rides at all can not be a theme park, that is what it means to people despite the dictionary definitions of the words taken alone. Can anyone find an attraction in the UK marketing itself as a theme park without any rides at all? Or even without a single roller coaster? Would be interesting to know. I saw Dreamland falter, I suspect you were barely born when it did! What you are seeing now is it being born again, it should have a great future ahead of it once they get it open. They've found themselves a decent heritage niche to work in and they've already done an incredible amount of work on the restoration; things appear to be going to plan. I'm a lot less confident Paramount will ever happen, I think the chances of it going up on anything like it's current planned scale are tiny, but I live in hope! It's probably the best chance we've had of a big new park opening since Micky chose the frogs over us. -
As much as they've drawn a certain atmosphere into the alternative, I'm sure in reality it would have just looked a bit of a mess. What we have now is better, just a shame it has been done so cheaply and remains looking incomplete and a bit of a mess.

Thanks, genius. We know what the words 'theme' and 'park' mean, but the term 'theme park' has taken on a meaning beyond that and it is bloody obvious they're using the term as it is generally understood. Nope, never heard of him. YOU DON'T KNOW. None of us do, and the conclusions you come to in writing it off are therefore nonsense. Yes, I'm sure they're planning to build a park none will want to return to. Just like Universal Studios hav..... oh.
