  1. Yep, if the ride itself stops quickly the hanging seats don't. Then they all smash into each other or swing violently enough to easily injure.
  2. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/probe-launched-after-15-revellers-3845865 Starflyer injures people stopping too quickly.
  3. Rubbish. It might not be quite as smooth as it started out, but it puts Saw and Smiler to shame in terms of ride comfort. It's a great little ride.
  4. Poor spelling and grammar piss me off. Right now I'm livid.

  6. One thing's for sure, this ever results in a situation where it ends up causing people to have to 'queue to queue' (ie wait virtually to be able to join what is then an actual queue rather than getting on the ride when your time comes) then people will get pissed off mighty quickly. The throuput will always be varibale to some extent. That's why they can never allocate 100% to the system, that's why there has to be a buffer standby queue, that's why no one is ever going to a queue-less theme park.
  7. What, from intamin? From all manufacturers ever? Both would be well wide of the mark as far as I'm aware. Have you just plucked that number from thin air?
  8. Yesterday seems to have been a bad day for rides, not only did the Zacspin eject someone to their death as mentioned elsewhere, it also seems 6FMM's vampire-a-like Ninja has derailed quite spectacularly causing injury. Hoping it's not as bad as it first seems and that there are not any ramifications for the other old suspended from coasters out there. Will link to an article when I'm not on my phone. EDIT http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-80741754/ Seems the ride itself didn't fail but the train struck a tree branch somehow, so should not have any knock on effect on the running of other old Arrow suspended coasters. Thank hevans for that!

Everyone knew it was going to happen ... THE PRICES HAVE RISEN! It was £12.50 per person (as the bogof never went away), it is now £15.00 per person. It astounds me how many people fall for these marketing things, I hate the standard Merlin artificially inflated price to discount structure, instead of just pricing things honestly. I blame DFS. Anyway, still think it's pretty good value for a slightly unusual experience. Do they make you wear a wetsuit? I imagine they'd be pretty rank by now!
  10. Are the gripping spinner pads back too? They're the only thing that can help this pile be close to enjoyable.

  12. I'm so miserable at work right now, wanting to be there instead.
  13. Advice please! I've not been for many years, a friend asked me today if it is worth going here with a five year old? The park seem to have been targeting a slightly older market for the last few years, is there still enough there for the very little ones to make a day there worthwhile? The adult rides are no good to her by the way, she's well pregnant, so the trip would purely be for the little one.

Nothings been proposed as such, but rumored based on previous planning documents/development plans are: - Air carpark - The Flume site (replacing The Flume) - Corner Coaster (sort of behind Charlie, planning noise problems there though) - Cross valley (very unlikely but always in my dreams!)
  15. Of all the points being mentioned I think the entrance / ticketing set up has caused some issues for MoS and summer nights, both having excessive and slow moving queues. Thought that was fixed now though as they let you collect your ticket earlier in the day rather than making you all collect them at once after the park has closed?
  16. The problem here seems to be this bizarre fastrack allocation formula they use which creates a percentage of the main queue time as an acceptable fastrack wait, rather than fastrack being walk on. R&R and fastrack should be combined in one queue and should both be walk on (or no delay at the merge point). The fastrack sales should be timed and sold at a volume which makes that possible. It can all be so simple. Why they make it so complex is beyond me.

    Zodiac has seat belts?
  18. Looks like a fun little coaster. And I saw you there in that clip! Well done for making it on to American news without going on a murderous rampage like most people have to.

As it's for an hour I'd say it's actually good value really, can see it being popular. Personally though an hour is too long out of my day at the park. If they offer a £5 for 10 mins at some point I might give it a go.

Sorry, that is just nonsense. That couple of minutes multiplies and multiplies for each person as the ride is going round empty, I think you'll find the amount of rides guests can get on is quite a big factor in their enjoyment of their day (and therefore likelihood to return). This problem does not exist with the hold at the start of the queue. The lengths the parks go to to achieve throughputs, they will not be happy if this has an adverse effect.
