Of course the best way to ease congestion leaving the park is to not kick everyone out at the peak of rush hour, and open later instead. In fact, I'm surprised that not closing between after 4 and before 7 isn't a stipulation from the council.

The system has been in use for 15 years and works fine. The batcher just has to bother to tell people, that's all. Arrowed lines to follow wouldn't hurt I suppose.

Mon voiture c'est penne! - Petits Parks of France - Day 1

That zip line thing looks great fun, I love things like that. I'm sure I went on something similar in the UK once, on the Isle of White maybe? Doubt it's still there. -

From the bits we can see it hardly swings at all. The track looks to be profiled like any other, I was expecting it to corner on a much flater plane to make the cartridges swing out. Maybe it does do that on bits we can't see, otherwise it looks like a bit if a waste of the concept. I'm sure it is still amazing Disney fun though, can't wait to see what the dark parts are like. Back in the old days though Chessington for example would regularly open late in the summer and on weekends and sell an 'evening ticket' (after 17.00hrs?) for a few quid. Some people who had been there all day would go but they would be replaced by the evening only people. People will have a better time if they feel they can relax through a longer day, and another advantage for the parks is all the extra food receipts if you can get people to stay for another main meal.

21.00hr close. Amazing.

Angry Bird's Ministry of Sound Thorpe Park Meet 5th July 2014
pluk replied to AJ 's topic in TPM 2014 Meets
They better be opening those angry birds dodgems for the ministry evening event. Carnage! -
This is so painfully obvious when you are there watching it go wrong, quite why they persevere with the split queue system I can't imagine. And can be fixed instantly by blocking the backwards queue and putting up a sign. As for the batching in stations in general, it used to always be the case (years ago) that a ride op on the platform would go along the queue from the ride side between dispatches checking the right amount of people were in each row and shuffling them if needed to fill all the seats. Never seem to see that happen any more, the staff often spend a lot of time standing around waiting (especially on one train op) when they could be doing something useful like this.

Old Zodiac. I like the frisson of the risk of real danger in my dull filler rides. Chocolate Eggs or Hot Cross Buns?

That really is quite a dilemma! Got a rather strong feeling I'd have ignored the advice, taken my chances and run! Having been around a few of them a burning car is not a place I want to be.

(It's a steel coaster poll, they do a separate wooden one)
-
That is also true! Unfortunately, stupid people falling for marketing nonsense is at the determent to us all.
-
But at the same time, they would be 'saving' more per visit against the higher entry price rather than the car parking cost. Same money!
-
RUN AWAY!!!
-
And the difference between raising the ticket price against removing the parking cost is.... nothing! It's the same money being collected in a different way. The whole discount ticket pricing structure is insanity anyway in my opinion, but that's another story.

Nasty, seems the girl is OK considering how easily coming out of that could kill you. http://www.westsussextoday.co.uk/news/county-news/latest-news/update-council-release-statement-on-worthing-fairground-ride-accident-1-6010541 This style of ride has a bit of history of ejecting people. Among the bull**** "I woz dare" comments (on a very poor and irresponsible 'news' article) is this rather sensible and plausible one The restraints are a single bar across 4 seats and you do need to brace yourself against the forces to stay there. It is very plausible that if she lost consciousness while riding she could effectively lay down across the seats and not be restrained by the lap bar at all. ------ Further afield a bungee/reverse bungee combo has malfunctioned in a way I can't quite understand from the text, killing two and injuring one in Thailand. http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/405600/two-die-in-bungee-accident

It did cause a queue to get in to the carpark, but I certainly preferred it and it made actually entering the park pretty much the only pain free part of the day. The annoyance of the wait is slightly alleviated by the excitement of what is to come rather than just the frustration of wanting to get home at the end of the day. I'd rather be queuing sitting in my comfy car than in the wind/rain/sun on foot. But most importantly, there is absolutely no need for a parking charge and the chaos and disgruntlement it causes. They just need to charge the right price for an entry ticket, it is simple really!
-
They should look at what Asterix do and take the car park money on the way in. It really works as it stops the stupidly long turnstile queue by regulating how many people can physically park at once and the frustration of barriers on exit leaving a really poor last impression. Or better still, lose the stupid unnecessary car park charge all together and add a quid to each park ticket. Simple!
-
I believe they got it for next to nothing in the first place as the problems were there from the off, so there wouldn't be much to sue them for. That could be why they are still happy to throw money at it.

I don't really know why, maybe because scale doesn't work well on videos, but that doesn't excite me much at all. Looks a bit dull and lumbering.
