javs got a reaction from L7123456 in Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the DemonThe train outside on rails looks like themeing to me. I don't think it will move. Its going to look fantastic though! It certainly looks and feels like a railway station. Right I am now off to have a lie down. That video has given me motion sickness. (Only joking thanks for the effort lads)

javs got a reaction from SteveJ in Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the DemonCall me old fashioned, but I love a traditional Ghost Train a la 'The Haunted House'. There is something exciting about being whisked off in a rickety old train into the darkness not knowing what awaits. The point is, it is fun as well as scary and the shared experience with friends and family is what makes it a joy. What worries me about this, is the notion of having an individual experience. Part of what makes a theme park fun is shared experiences. Am I making any sense here?!
PS I'm not putting it down as we have no idea what it is yet, but it just worries me a little.

javs got a reaction from UnderItAll in Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the DemonProbably likely it will be simply called 'The Tube'. A terrifying experience of breakdowns, stabbings and strikes.

javs got a reaction from Merry-go-girl in Project WC16 - New for 2016I'm fairly convinced this wont have an IP. I'm not saying it wont be sponsored by a well known brand, but I think we will see a unique and fresh dark ride that is not related to anything we currently know. Anyone old enough to remember the 5th Dimension will know that IP's are not necessary for a successful dark ride!!

javs got a reaction from Brighteyes99 in Project WC16 - New for 2016I'm with Brighteyes99 on this one. This is looking like a simulator setup. The trench in the ground looks like it could house a simulator rig. I use aviation simulators as part of my job, and It all looks familiar as far as the height of the buildings/hangars and current foundation configuration.

javs got a reaction from Inferno in Next Big Thing - 2016 Development ?Well TP's last 3 major coasters have all gone up within three years of each other. And the MTDP did say that we can expect the next one in 2015. If 2015 is the target for Thorpes next thrill machine, then we could see some plans produced towards the end of the summer/autumn. Now that The Smiler has finished construction, I am looking forward to starting fresh here with some new speculation and construction!

javs got a reaction from Tom in Thorpe Park In 3D - Google Earthwell, yes and no. I am contracted for 3 years and will prob be out here for up to 5. But I will still be modelling for Thorpe Park's current and future rides, and I am going to look at modelling Alton Towers at some point in the future. I will resume modelling in a couple of months, so until then, I hope you all enjoy the current crop of models on there.

javs got a reaction from Phill Pritchard in Thorpe Park In 3D - Google EarthThanks Liam_T. Well there are a few elements I still need to add to The Swarm island and still plenty to do with the rest of the park. I am taking a bit of time out as I have moved to Singapore with a new job and am a little busy at the moment. But have no fear, I will resume the 3D modelling from mid summer onwards and of course will be checking into TPM on a regular basis.

javs got a reaction from UnderItAll in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesI remember when these forums used to consist of enthusiasts and experts!!! It would seem that those days are long gone after reading some of these recent comments! ;-)

javs got a reaction from Liam T in THE SWARM: In The MediaBrilliant! I love this type of negative/positive advertising. Lets make it look like this ride is going to rip you to bits!!! Well done Thorpe, the kids will love this.

javs got a reaction from Sheepie in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesI would imagine it stopping after the inline twist simpky because the ride is in the testing phase. I can't imagine why some peeps thought the ride would look fast on such an open track! You have to remember the sheer scale of this thing too, the video makes the ride look small, but I can assure you, when you ride it, you are going to come off it and say, wow, that is a lot faster than it looks! It covers a longer circuit than Inferno in a shorter time. Speaks for itself really!!

javs got a reaction from Sheepie in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesWhilst you lot are talking about locusts, The Swarm is probably whizzing around the track and we are missing it!! Lunatics! ;-) Loving the pictures previously by the way, good job.

javs got a reaction from UnderItAll in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesOK, OK, just replace the 15 weeks with 10 weeks and 3 days. It was supposed to be a simple estimation but meh.

javs got a reaction from pluk in THE SWARM: Speculation & TheoriesNemesis has all the elements a great coaster should have. It is fast, has a tight course, multiple elements and keeps on relentlessly going right up until the break run. It offers an intense experience that not many coasters can supply from start to finish in the way it does. As much as The Swarm is going to be a fantastic coaster and by all accounts a fast and exhilarating ride, it wont be able to produce the sheer intensity of Nemesis. This you can tell from the layout alone. It is the reason that Nemesis is regularly declared in the top 10 best roller coasters in the world. I don't think The Swarm will match that accolade. But that does not mean it cannot be a great ride.

javs got a reaction from Drawin in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesWell we have pretty much already seen them in the promotional graphics. They are the same as Raptor's, and why not as they fit in with this theme very nicely. So that is what I am expecting/hoping for. Thanks for the photos guys. A forest of supports! Looks fab, although I cant work out which support is what at the moment apart from the inline twist and the tall one on the right for the overbanked turn. And I just realised, I think this may be the first ride installation I have seen since Inferno, where there have so far been no negative comments! We normally have something to complain about! But there is still a long way to go, so lets see. -
javs got a reaction from Adam J in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesThanks for the update Adam!

javs got a reaction from Drawin in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesDon't take me too seriously Benin, that was supposed to be a bit of a joke about how popular this ride is going to be! So if we are going to see some pyrotechnics, and that is a big if, where do we think they may be used? Something blowing up, but what? Maybe at the bottom of the first drop by the aircraft? The rate this thing is going up, could we be seeing some testing before Christmas? And Thorpeparkjack, I'm not sure what B&M Inverted coasters you have been on that I have not, but I would hardly call Inferno crap!!
-
javs got a reaction from Adam J in THE SWARM: Construction UpdatesTrouble is mate, if all you have to compare Inferno with is Nemesis, then well clearly it is not as good. Nemesis is the best Inverted B&M in the world for crying out loud. I can assure you, I have ridden at least 10 inverted B&M's around the world and I can assure you, Inferno is up there with the best of them for theming, intensity and ground hugging near misses. Now I am chuffed to nuts that we are getting a new B&M and The Swarm looks like the most exciting coaster we have seen in years, but I would say to those that have never ridden a truly great Intamin not to forget they regularly win best steel coasters in the world! And if we ever get anything like Maverick in this country I can assure you, your opinion would be very swiftly changed!! It certainly opened my eyes, very wide indeed!! -
