Mardy
Thunder Looper was one of the best rides at AT, no doubt about it. That was one of the first 'launch' coasters in the UK but didn't use the sophisticated technology we see today on the likes of Stealth and Rita. Thunder Looper used a counterweight catapult system. It was very affective and was an awesome ride. The fact that it only had a lap bar restraint made it even better. It's still running today I believe in a park outside the UK.Reasons for it's removal...1.) Noisey2.) Could be seen from outside the park (above tree tops)3.) UnreliableI reckon then should of wacked it in a hole like they did with Nemesis and then stuck a Black Hole type cover over it. That would have been awesome!
MikeC
Wasn't the loop track starting to crack?
Dan9
I don't think so but I was to busy weeping on it's final day to take notice Put it in the Black Hole tent! I'd very much doubt it would fit in there.
Whiteknuckle
I missed out on it, but did see it in operation. Since then though, I have done Turbine at Walibi Belgium, exactly the same ride.
tamtam86
thunder looper was the best ride!! used to love seeing the top of it over the trees, then you really knew you were at AT.Ah the good old days!
AltonThorpe
It wouldn't work with the theme of forbidden valley. It was a cracking ride though

Tom
Where Blade is..."Thunder Looper, That's replace it with Blade, yay!!!!"
Mark9
Hmm. Either that or nothing. Thunder Looper wasn't going to stay because of all the complaints it was getting from the local people.
D4n
Ripsaw was also added following the removal of Thunder Looper.
JoshC.
I also think Thunder Looper only had a temporary planning application or soemthing. Or is that just a rumour mixed with the truth?
James
Rumour mixed with the truth. It had a lot of opposition from the locals due to it being noisy and it was visible over the tree line.
Sidders
That was the main reason, but another lesser reason was that a part of the support structure for the loop had cracked a little, and so knowing that it was being removed, they didn't bother fixing it until it was demolished; the crack was found only a few months before it's closure. Emma.
Thunder Loper really did sound like a good ride. I really wish I had the chance to ride it.
pluk
I lost my loop virginity to this beauty. Was always the best when the fog was hanging low, disappearing into the cloud was a real thrill. No OTSR, an amazing launch when launching was unheard of. It was perfection in its time, but I doubt it would have aged well had it remained.Found its twin sister in Knotts Berry Farm last year, and rode it with a tear of nostalgia in my eye. Paul123
I cant confirm this 100%, but I heard that the ride did breach the tree height limit and they could only apply for the ride on a temporary contract(apparenly for 4 years at first) they then tryed to extend it which they did for another 2 years, but were told that noise levels need to come down and improve otherwise it would be taken down, this was then for this very reason that it was eventually removed.Great ride it was though, ahhhhhh I so miss Thunderlooper, What a classic
