Posted November 29, 200717 yr comment_17572 Another Mack powered ride, and this is a great one! Its located in Mexicana sitting near the Rattlesnake, and personally I think its on of Chessingtons most enjoyable rides. Its like the Flying Fish, but with the theme of RMT, its really a completely different ride! (Now I'm starting to do random blabble )Discussion on one of Chessingtons better rides here!
November 29, 200717 yr comment_17582 Theming is good, good soundtrack and 6-lap rides in pissing rain are AWESOME.
November 29, 200717 yr comment_17586 My first rollercoaster and my first rollercoaster that I operated. I gotta say that this was my favourite ride to work on at Chessington as theres so much you can do with it. The ride itself would be below average if it wasn't for the theming which is some of Tussauds bests.
November 29, 200717 yr comment_17589 I agree - excellent ride with excellent theming.. and the music really added something to it this year.Shame its falling into a state of disrepair really..
October 30, 200816 yr comment_37777 This ride is great during the fright nights! Are you being sarcastic or do you genuinely believe its great. (How about using the rolly eye smiley properly!)
October 30, 200816 yr comment_37784 Runaway Train! iss the best!I like the way it's not Flying Fish... but it is...Themeing is good, you can spot Rodeo stuff from it.Good times.
October 30, 200816 yr comment_37788 I was seriousthe runaway train is actually really good during the evening in the fright nights!
April 9, 200916 yr comment_51707 never ridden it cos I thought it didn't look good. I was also put off by a 30 min queue(according to the board)Is it worth a ride?
April 9, 200916 yr comment_51713 never ridden it cos I thought it didn't look good. I was also put off by a 30 min queue(according to the board)Is it worth a ride?Yes it is worth the ride even with a 30 min queue. It is not as dull as it looks!
April 10, 200916 yr comment_51785 never ridden it cos I thought it didn't look good. I was also put off by a 30 min queue(according to the board)Is it worth a ride?Yes it is worth it. It is a good ride I think one of Chessingtons many good rides.
April 10, 200916 yr comment_51893 Its the same layout as the Flying fish but the interaction with the landscape is much better.
April 11, 200916 yr comment_51980 Maybe you should go on it and find out!Hopefully they reclad some of those rocks, it's looking very tired these days.
April 30, 200916 yr comment_54414 my first ever coaster. so this ride will always have a special place in my heart. its tame but its good fun and I always ride it when visiting Chessie
May 1, 200916 yr comment_54443 It is exactly the same layout as Flying Fish, but judging by the scenery and the general experience (including the theming of the queue line) there really is no competition.
February 26, 201015 yr comment_84164 (OMG posts above from me in 2008 - No capital letters for ride names, said fright nights instead of Halloween Hocus Pocus and couldn't use smileys corectly. Omg thank god I don't do that anymore! )What I was going to post...I saw some lovely effects in the Runaway Train's queue line during the last Halloween Hocus Pocus.I really hope these effects are still operational during the 2010 season as they looked very good! Also, Runaway Train has been replaced with Kobra on the Express Pass ticket. However, Runaway Train is now available on the Ultimate Express Pass ticket.
February 26, 201015 yr comment_84167 I've heard that the Runaway Train is getting a coat of paint, so fingers crossed things like the effects mentioned will also be fixed as it's a great little ride
February 26, 201015 yr comment_84199 Spose its cos of runaway always being the quietest of the 6 on EXP which has led to its removal. I'd presume that would've removed the EXP entrance as well - no stupid waiting on the stairs for noone to come anymore.I've also heard of the RMT repaint - and most of the effects in the queue working again. Noice, lets hope its happened so I can disregard my 2007 post above. Christ, over 2yrs ago!
March 8, 201015 yr comment_85098 Fun ride. I have a special place in my heart for this one as it was the first coaster I ever went on. I was terrified back then lol. It's hard to believe that it's the same track layout as Flying Fish. The reason why it's 100 times better than FF imo is becuase it's themed and very creative. It takes you through tunnels etc whereas Fish doesn't really do anything. Great ride!

Great ride!I have to agree with everything you have said there comparing Runaway Train to Flying Fish!I love this ride so much and personally feel it has great theming!I also love how Runaway Train actually has staff using the PA instead of normal announcements as I always feel the powered coaster is a great ride for guest interaction!
March 8, 201015 yr comment_85155 a great ride for guest interaction! It seriously is, myself or Mark will tell you just how awesome it is. I loved last summer when the queue was out of the entrance, with an awesome team on the platform, and literally queue busting like there was no tomorrow. And getting the whole queueline involved, talking to people on the platform, loved it!
August 2, 201015 yr comment_95767 Cute little roller coaster, I enjoyed going through the caves, its very tame though and I thought it would be like Flying Fish in Thorpe Park but it much tamer. I think the ride should be longer though, it seemed very short.
August 2, 201015 yr comment_95768 The Flying Fish and Runaway Train are in fact exactly the same, same layout, same speed, same model, etc. In my opinion Runaway Train is far superior because is interacts so much more with theming and it feels very adventurous. Compare that to Flying Fish in which you just go around some drops and helixes with some dry ponds, it feels so bare.Glad you liked it, but they are the same ride!
August 2, 201015 yr comment_95772 Oh I like Runaway Train much better, I love the theming behind it. But I am quite surprised that it has exactly the same format as Flying Fish. I was screaming like hell when I went on Flying Fish, I felt like I was actually going to fall out of my seat lol and wanted it to stop. When I went on Runaway Train it wasn't scary at all, I could feel the helixes, bends but for some reason I find it alot tamer then the one at Thorpe Park.I told my mum this, and she was like maybe thats because you have already been on a tame roller coaster so it will seem less scary this time lol. I am quite proud of myself for finding it tame though . Next time I will try the Vampire ride.
