October 2, 200816 yr comment_34536 I'm guessing if Corkscrew is gonna be removed, *possible* chance of a retheme for UG Land to make it all Thunder Rock Rally stuff?
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34544 I can think of ten other more recent rides that are rougher then Corkscrew. For a 28 year old ride it was pretty damn smooth - (not the word I'm looking for but well I can't think of a different one).. Crap, but nice for nostalgic reasons.
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34546 Really really sad about this. I love it to bits and have always defended it. I really will miss it. As Mark said, it's not really that rough compared to a some of the newer coasters, hate me all you want but I find Colossus a lot more painful and rough than I have ever found Corkscrew.
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34573 Shame, I've quite enjoyed corkscrew.. its never ever been painful for me. It's quite nice to ride, nice and retro. Will miss it!
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34584 wow. going to be a huge losswill miss ya corky!:Pwhy do they have to take it away from us. okay, it had lots of problems as in down time, but hey... it was old:(on the good side, maybe a new atraction will be along in it's place!:Plet's hope it's as good
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34585 On the contrary, Corkscrew didn't have that much downtime at all (well apart from the two times that it stalled )
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34603 We sure will... I dont get it! Corkscrew is the MAIN attraction in Ug-Land, wtf are they doing taking it away??? Rita Anyone?
October 2, 200816 yr comment_34611 Thats what I was thinking I would like to say it is sad to see it go but I have only been on it once and that was this year, and I didn't think it was good. But its great how long it has lasted.R.I.P Corkscrew.
October 3, 200816 yr comment_34627 I hate it when they remove rides altogether...my ride on the corky was good aswell! I was on the back and the airtime was fun....See ya corkscrew old pal!R.I.P.
October 3, 200816 yr comment_34631 great shame. Been on the ride once and did enjoy it. Definetely not the best ride there but still a small thrill. Wasn't too bothered by how bumpy the ride was. Its a great rollercoaster for younger thrill seekers to ride who can't ride the bigger rides, and will be missed!
October 4, 200816 yr comment_34679 I think it's a bit of a waste of money to put 'Your Day' on it, only to remove it two years later. Ah well!
October 4, 200816 yr comment_34693 Well this is sad news. We all knew this was coming eventually.I am going to Alton Towers later this month for a couple of days so I shall make sure I have 2 or 3 rides on the Corkscrew.I understand Corkscrew is being removed not only because it’s and old time to retire, but because of a new area coming in 2010. Where is this new area going, near Ugland? And will Rita be put under the new area name and Ugland be wiped off the map? Also, what will happen to Corkscrew, will it be dismantled and sent back to the manufacturer? Or will it be melted down and sold? Whatever happens, the trains will almost certainly be used again on another rollercoaster somewhere else in the world.

October 4, 200816 yr comment_34743 I hate it when they remove rides altogether...In what other ways can you remove a ride?
October 5, 200816 yr comment_34784 Also, what will happen to Corkscrew, will it be dismantled and sent back to the manufacturer? Or will it be melted down and sold? Whatever happens, the trains will almost certainly be used again on another rollercoaster somewhere else in the world. It's been sold to America (Mexico I think)Said a 'Rita' ride op.I doubt that's very good clarity.
October 5, 200816 yr comment_34790 Black Hole has been sold to mexico (or South America) however at the moment I think it's destined to be stored, and if not sold, then to be scrapped, as the metal probably has a high value.
October 5, 200816 yr comment_34816 Blimey, sounds like there's a theme park opening over the pond with all second hand rides! I wonder if Rodeo's there.
October 5, 200816 yr Author comment_34881 Corkie's closing- The 3rd best ride in the park- closing!!! :D
October 5, 200816 yr comment_34896 We know. It's in that other topic *unless that was removed, I cba to look*
October 6, 200816 yr Author comment_34917 We know. It's in that other topic *unless that was removed, I cba to look*I know- but this IS the Corkscrew topic
October 6, 200816 yr comment_35024 I know- but this IS the Corkscrew topic What's probably happened, the stuff in the other corkscrew topic has been moved in here. I mean, we don't need 2 topics
October 15, 200816 yr comment_35963 Earlier in this topic I was asking what would happen to Corkscrew, would it be sent to it's manufacturer? Well now I can answer that question for myself, as I have just found this on Alton Towers Almanac:However, fans of the ride will be happy to hear that the famous corkscrews themselves are likely to be saved and used somewhere in the park.Brilliant!
