May 11, 200916 yr comment_55452 Slammer hasnt had a great start to the season, but in recent years after much work its reliability has improved drastically. I'm sure when it gets up and running properly it will be fine.
May 11, 200916 yr comment_55453 It is getting to the point now, where the park (I think) should be thinking of replacing it.To be honest I wouldn't be too upset to see it go.
May 11, 200916 yr comment_55454 To be honest I wouldn't be too upset to see it go.Neither would I , there are far better flat rides at the park. Here is a idea, get rid of Slammer, and Run Samurai Properly?
May 11, 200916 yr comment_55455 Neither would I , there are far better flat rides at the park. Here is a idea, get rid of Slammer, and Run Samurai Properly? It just really irritates me that Slammer is such a fantastic ride, but it's reliability is so poor. I agree with you, that no I wouldn't be too bothered if it went, although it does offer such a fantastic experience. Just a shame it's never bloomin' open!

Just a shame it's never bloomin' open!Oh Believe me, fairground top scan's are a far greater experiece, than well anything.Even the Chessington Samuari, is a better experience than Inferno.(For the record I rate Inferno as the worst of Thorpe's large coasters)
May 11, 200916 yr comment_55459 I agree with Inferno being the worst of the large coasters, and Woah guys hold your horses. Slammers experience is unbelievable and unrivalled anywhere else in the world ( I think ). Unless a seriously spellbinding flat replaced it or an amazing dark ride, I would be devastated if it went. I do agree though, it's reliability is diabolical, embarrassing, a shambles any other words that mean absolutely shocking. It, IMO is one of the biggest things ( of many) Thorpe need to sort out first.
May 11, 200916 yr comment_55460 Neither would I , there are far better flat rides at the park. Here is a idea, get rid of Slammer, and Run Samurai Properly?Or they could just run Samurai properly anyway?
May 11, 200916 yr comment_55461 Or they could just run Samurai properly anyway? There is that option, has it ever 'windmilled' at Thorpe?Back to Slammer, does anyone know what seems to generaly be the problem with it? E.g. is it air pressure? Is it not locking corectly?
May 12, 200916 yr comment_55498 If you mean by "windmilled" where it stops in this position and lets the 6 pods rotate, then yes. Like in this picture: I would be far happier if Thorpe Park just ripped it down and replaced it with anything else. It could be a carousel for all I care, just anything more reliable. No! Then there'd be no sky swatters left in the world!
May 12, 200916 yr comment_55500 No! Then there'd be no sky swatters left in the world! What about Catapult?
May 12, 200916 yr comment_55568 Yes the ride is troublesome, but having the second of only two in the world is something pretty damn fine. Slammer has had tons of money spent on her and as I say, it's a highly unique, one of a kind ride. She won't be going anywhere just yet.
May 13, 200916 yr comment_55585 I love this ride but its a bit of a shame it is currently in the broken down list on thorpe's website nearly every day isnt it?? :)Anyone know whats up with it this time??
May 13, 200916 yr comment_55634 I love this ride but its a bit of a shame it is currently in the broken down list on thorpe's website nearly every day isnt it?? :)Anyone know whats up with it this time??Slammer is just slammer...

May 13, 200916 yr comment_55646 Slammer is back up in operation went on it 8 times today even though thorpe park say its unavailable its not lol I have come to notice several times recently that the "Rides Currently Unavailable" section of the Thorpe Park website can be very unreliable.
May 14, 200916 yr comment_55660 Earlier today Slammer went off the unavailable list, now its back on...typical.
May 14, 200916 yr comment_55665 I swear it would be so much easier and less expensive in the long run, just to buy another Sky Swat, re-name it something that doesn't begin with 's'. And most importantly, let S&S deal with it when it breaks down instead of trying, and failing to fix it, in the process making it worse.
May 14, 200916 yr comment_55666 re-name it something that doesn't begin with 's'That made me laugh.buy another Sky SwatOr another better flat
May 14, 200916 yr comment_55680 I dont know why it says its down on the website, it was working all day.
May 14, 200916 yr comment_55699 It was down from about 3pm onwards today I think. It was down today but only for 15 minutes
May 14, 200916 yr comment_55715 But after it broke down initially, it wasn't running with people on it for the rest of the day. I think.
