Benin
Like you don't go to Thorpe/Towers/Chessie/etc if you're not gonna ride anything... Is a big selling point that non-riders at Blackpool can get in for £6? Especially given you can play the same style of games on South Pier or in the town of tack itself? If you pay £48 on the gate not to ride anything, then you deserve to lose money...
c1hrisin
Like you don't go to Thorpe/Towers/Chessie/etc if you're not gonna ride anything... When I was a kid my mum always had to go with me even tho she wouldn't ride anything... People don't just choose to go on their own not to ride anything, lots of parents have to go, along with guardians and helpers.

It's great that they offer this for situations similar to the one you have stated above, rather than charging full price for a non rider. In other news, the park now has a guest services centre which I think is brilliant. Also, it's very classy! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152183369127365&set=ms.10152183369127365.10152183369162365.10152183369167365.10152183369922365.10152183370092365.10152183370537365.10152183370902365.10152183371147365.10152183371532365.10152183371927365.10152183372157365.10152183372547365.10152183372757365.10152183373172365.10152183373367365.10152183373447365.10152183374282365.10152183374347365.10152183374337365.10152183374497365.10152183374627365.10152183375027365.10152183375137365.10152183375262365.10152183375547365.bps.a.10152183368222365.1073741865.88885897364&type=1&theater c1hrisin

That's what people don't remember when they use these arguments. You don't ***have*** to go somewhere like this. Either you go, and you ride, or if you don't ride any rides you don't take your kids to those places and let their friends take them instead. Simple. Coaster
Blackpool Pleasure Beach opened for the 2014 season today, and are open weekends throughout Feb! It would be nice to see other parks opening earlier in the year like this. You don't ***have*** to go somewhere like this. Either you go, and you ride, or if you don't ride any rides you don't take your kids to those places and let their friends take them instead. Simple. It's not always that simple, grandparents take children to places, parents take children etc so this is a good option for people who don't want to ride. Mark9
Which makes sense at Blackpool, seaside resort, you can just stumble upon it. You won't have a "no ride ticket" at Towers or Chessington because you have specifically chosen to go there. If your parents or grandparents don't go on anything, they again have made the decision to take the kids to a theme park.

Coaster
WEATHER UPDATE: Blackpool has had 95 mph winds this evening (and higher gusts). No information about the Pleasure Beach is available yet, apart from the fact that they have evacuated security from the park and called in structural engineers. The Tower Complex's roof has been torn off (not the top of the tower, the complex with the dungeons and jungle jims). I will update on here as I hear more over the next few days. I fear for our woodies!
OldFarmerDean
I seen on the news about how the promenade and road was completely closed off with signs ripping off etc. Did worry for the actual tower itself which I'm sure they'll need to thoroughly check the tower when the weather backs off to reopen (?), shocked to hear the roof has ripped off, and really hope BPB is intact... I mean as for the big one don't think it could have any more supports so sure its fine aha! Coaster
Coaster
BPB seems to be alright, judging from their latest Facebook post: Rumours that Pleasure Beach is closed this weekend are greatly exaggerated! It'll take more than a bit of wind do put us out of action! If you're stuck for stuff to do over the coming Half Term, we're open weekends until the end of March then it's all day, every day through until November. The rest of Blackpool however hasn't got off lightly.
OldFarmerDean
Well good to hear about the pleasure beach... Got to at least be happy for them as hey haven't exactly had the best last few years with all the losses they've been having.

Flipper
Would we be able to tell the difference between the dire state of Blackpool before/after a storm? It might be worth thinking twice of what you say before you start slagging off people's homes / hometowns etc. The town itself is in a better condition than some might think, but unfortunately some people are too stubborn to look any further than down the end of their own nose, at the world around them and see that plenty of places aren't all sunny and bright Coaster
