October 6, 20159 yr comment_219798 But but... you 'invert' back to normal position at the top... These are the two points that could be considered inversions. Where else does the track take you upside-down?!
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219799 As I said it depends on your interpretation of what an inversion is. For example the Cobra roll on Colossus is counted as two inversions (according to wiki), yet the corkscrews on the last section are all counted individually. It's certainly unique though. you go upside down twice on a cobra roll, hence why it counts as 2, and each of the corkscrews are counted because each of them go upside down..
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219800 Technically an inversion is a point at which you go beyond 135 degrees Someone get your angle meter out and fly to Dubai for us
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219801 Technically an inversion is a point at which you go beyond 135 degrees Someone get your angle meter out and fly to Dubai for us But but is that measured from the horizon, or another point of origin?
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219870 But, but.... OK I'll stop, and hope you see the humour in my posts, unlike another forum I've just been banned from for cracking a joke about booze.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219872 As I said it depends on your interpretation of what an inversion is. For example the Cobra roll on Colossus is counted as two inversions (according to wiki), yet the corkscrews on the last section are all counted individually. It's certainly unique though. That's not an interpretation... A cobra roll is only called as such because of the way the element looks. If you wanted to break it down you could choose to see it as an Immelmann loop into a dive loop or something. It's still 2 inversions either way.
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219880 Getting back on topic, I wonder how long the cars/trains are on this ride?
October 6, 20159 yr comment_219929 New image from the park's Facebook... That angle makes it clear to me that there is no inversion there. Then again, or makes the element look a lot larger than the lift hill (even taking into account perspective and whatnot).
October 7, 20159 yr comment_219963 Does anyone else think Intamin's new track looks horrific especially in white..
October 7, 20159 yr comment_219967 Skyrush (Hershey) doesn't look too bad; from my experience of Nolimits, most coasters look terrible when all white!
December 3, 20159 yr comment_224233 Update on the 2 other coasters (images from VHCoasters' Facebook): Some of the track for the SFX coaster has gone up, showing one of the inversions. Here's another photo, from earlier on in construction. I think it really shows the scale of the track: And a photo of the Intamin shuttle coaster. Apparently, it's meant to go through the glass and the track is meant to spike vertically upwards..
December 3, 20159 yr comment_224234 It's mildly depressing seeing such fantastic looking things that in all likelihood I'll never get to experience.
December 7, 20159 yr comment_224379 Anyone for the tilt track? Renderings. Video, 38 seconds and 1 minute 33 show it. It's fast. And there's another one going to Kuala Lumpa.
December 15, 20159 yr comment_224817 So whilst Flying Aces currently has the tallest loop in the world (at about 171ft), it won't for much long. This Intamin shuttle coaster at Wanda City Hefei, in China, will have a 187ft tall non-inverting loop, which is currently being constructed... On a side note, this Wanda park is also rumoured to be getting duelling tilt coasters too, which is nice.
December 27, 20159 yr comment_225251 Flying Aces has reportedly started testing. I like how you say "reportedly". I mine, they might have faked this testing video https://www.facebook.com/ParksCoastersWorldwide/videos/952575664816993/
December 28, 20159 yr comment_225256 I hadn't seen that video and my only source was from instagram. Previous disasters have told me never to trust instagram. So I'd rather be safe than sorry.
March 2, 20169 yr comment_228911 Flying Aces is now open: https://www.facebook.com/CoasterForce/videos/10153350100928639/ Looks pretty darn fun! Lift hill is a bit slow though...
March 2, 20169 yr comment_228912 The second half seems like a slow boring mess. It just looses all its speed so quickly.
