    Colossus

The front row queue on Sunday was just about quicker than the normal queue Made a nice change to be front row, and what a way to ride after not having been to the park since March/April!
  2. ^Hmm that is pretty random. I could understand if you actually were depressed etc and it's good they want to help people in those situations...but yeah, when you're perfectly fine, that's just odd and annoying!
  3. 15 people make it heavy enough to pull down (with a big rope or crane or something, can't remember) if there's a power cut etc. So presumably without that much weight, it won't come down! Sounds silly but that's how it works! This was the case when I worked there in 2007 and 2008 anyway, but I doubt they would change it. So I'm confused But they would never run it with only 1 person...unless the staff are that bad!
  4. Incase of a power cut etc, should the ride get stuck "at the top" so to speak, it needs to be weighted enough to be pulled back down. No joke :(And yes Marc is correct, Slammer has to have a difference of 2 people on each side, so if there are only 3 people, they would have to put 1 on 1 side, 2 on the other etc.
  5. Finally ordered my new Annual Pass! It should be ready to collect at Thorpe! About time too

I want to type loads of stuff cos I replaced my buggered laptop keyboard yesterday and now I don't have to keep using the On-Screen Keyboard for certain keys! I can type all normally and super fast again! Woo woo!!
  7. Well now my Annual Pass has been ordered, and I'm collecting from Thorpe...I should be going soon!
  8. I think I know what you're on about! I had it but when I played it in Windows Medya Player it was fine. Hmmm.

    Colossus

Hmm interesting point!Well I do know one thing...if I remember correctly, when trained on Colossus they said that if the train is at the very top, like coming off the lift hill, they call emergency services, probably to avoid what you described in that video!Otherwise, if it is entirely on the lift hill, it shouldn't move anywhere!

    Colossus

I can understand your point, but there is a reason why they do this. If the ride stopped for whatever reason on the lift hill or brake run, they evacuate from the back of the train first. And the steps on the hill and platform on the brake run are on the right hand side, hence why the disabled seat is on the right hand side :lol:However the disabled seat is the front right, and you said you sometimes get put in the back one. I know you said you get cramp in both but the front has more room, making it more comfortable, and they should be following procedure and putting you in the correct seat! Next time they put you in the back one, tell them you need the leg space of the front seat. If they for whatever reason continue not to follow the procedure, make note of the staff member's name, go to Guest Services, they will hopefully pass it onto the rides managers/TLs, who will hopefully have a word with the n00b responsible. Hate to dob people in but if they're not doing their job properly...
  11. ^Agreed.Everyone is allowed their own opinion but there's no need to get so nasty. Grow up or don't post on here.Anyway...I hate it when people are all like "Oh I did ok I guess" then they tell you they got 4 As, an A* and the rest are Bs! Erm, actually they're pretty excellent results! My brother pointed out that they might be saying it because they were capable of getting higher grades so they're disappointed they didn't, but on a CV etc, no one thinks that far into it. You compare those results with mine (5Bs, 5Cs) and it looks far better. However, I'm gonna contradict myself and say, even though my results were good, the BB in Science should have been AA, my C in IT should have been a B, maybe even an A, the B in Media Studies should have been an A. If my "problems" had been diagnosed at that point then I would have been given support, given extra time on exams, possibly been on medication...things definitely could have been a lot different, and possibly better. But at the same time, because I had those difficulties, I couldn't cope with college, left early, worked at Thorpe, made some great friends, had some bloody great times, moved to Chessie, left, couldn't get back to Thorpe, so did voluntary work for Cats Protection where I found out about Plumpton College, applied, at the same time got a perfect job at a cattery...and now I'm about to do what I've always wanted to do and something I am naturally good at and enjoy a lot, and hopefully this will lead to a successful career working with animals! Plus I now know why my brain is screwed up So college should be better this time round, and I'm doing something I'm passionate about :lol:K I'll be quiet now
  12. Well done everyone! You've all done really well
  13. Wow, I've just had my provisional license rejected in our local off license. What a wind up, and there were other people in there, probably thinking I'm some underage chav. But I make it worse for myself by acting nervously, which I only do because I'm anxious about people's stupid, rude reactions My brother saw a man who was in his early to mid 20s but looked about 30 have problems in the same shop served by the same man. He's obviously had a lot of problems before and just wants to be on the safe side, which is fair enough, but not for us genuine over 18s! Talk about patronising...And when I was waiting to be served, some big moody-faced woman came in and barged past me, saying "scuse me" all fed up when I'd already moved forward. Maybe if her arse wasn't so big and she learnt some manners...But after all that my mum went in and got my drink for me and the guy apologised lol.

    Cats or Dogs?

National Cat Adoption Centre! :lol:I was just thinking, I've never seen puppies/kittens in pet shops. Actually it would be pretty cruel, must be an old-fashioned thing.

    Pepsi or Coke?

Pepsi, I agree with what others have said about Coke being too gassy and not quenching thirst as much!Mountain Dew though! Original one mind, not this energy crap, which gave me no energy and tasted like Sprite tbh. :| You want energy...drink MONSTER!!
  20. Good luck! I think it's a wonderful idea, I feel very strongly about mental health and there is still very little understanding in this country. I'm sure you'd do very well! :oI definitely want a career with animals, going back to college in September, off to Plumpton to do the National Diploma in Animal Management After that, who knows? Maybe a vet nursing degree, or Animal Science...I don't know yet. Or maybe I could get a well-paid job at a zoo/safari park. Don't mean to sound greedy but I would like a career that pays well, and I don't see why I shouldn't, I'm intelligent and hard-working enough and it's only fair that I get good money in return! I look up to my dad as well. He did well at college, didn't go to uni. I don't know if he went straight to Glaxo (Smithkline Beecham back then though!) or somewhere else first, but he's been there for nearly 30 years as a research scientist and over the years has progressed and earned good money, and good for him! Unfortunately he's been made redundant along with some others, but financially I don't think he's too worried And it proves that you didn't have to go to uni to get a decent career back then. These days, people are almost being forced to go to uni. Ugh. I have nothing against uni itself, if you wanna go and need the qualifications then great (plus there's the socialising side of course!). But so many people go just for the hell of it, it seems. Meh.I've gone off track a bit in this post and confused myself! But yeah, deffo a career with animals!I've also had ideas about living in the US. I know everyone says this but...they really do have bigger houses and for the amount we'd pay here for an average 4 bedroom house...you could get something way nicer and bigger over there! But it's not just that, it would be an adventure, something new. I'm proud to be British and I love this country (well the nice things about it anyway!) but they have such a different lifestyle over there, I wanna know what it's like to be part of it. I've never been though, for all I know if I ever go on holiday there I might change my mind! I'd like to live in Maine. Nice place, coastal areas, forests, lakes, the weather is the same more or less as this country. I do like rain, it's quite cosy! Mind you they have heavier snowfall over there...but unlike most British people, I don't mind. Besides, they're probably more prepared for it than us Brits! I wouldn't want to be somewhere hot. It would be nice to live somewhere hot but it would take the novelty of going abroad away. You know, stepping off the plane and getting that blast of hot air. It's like when I decided to work at Thorpe. Since then it has never been the same, even though I finished my job there nearly 2 years ago, the novelty has gone. Plus there's hurricanes, tropial storms and forest fires etc to deal with! And I'm definitely having 2 Maine Coon cats, whatever happens! Beautiful, majestic cats, intelligent, big and cuddly, and good with kids. Yeah I want kids. And I'm taking them to Orlando, every kid should go! I never did (we nearly did when I was 10 but parents split up so was cancelled ) so I'm making sure they do!It's exciting having all these ideas...but scary to not know what will actually happen. I'm just gonna work hard and hopefully it'll pay off!

    Favourite Movie Genre

I voted other.I don't have a favourite film genre. I like comedies but there are so many these days that look such trash to me. They all have similar storylines etc...originality makes a good film!Although...Harry Potter fangirl Have always loved animated films, Disney (proper Disney mind, not High School bloody Musical!!!).The old favourites like Jurassic Park, Jaws, ET...Back To The Future! I have just watched it the whole way through for the first time, only ever seen the end before, you know with the clocktower etc. My brother loves that film, he always went on about it when we were younger but I didn't really care. Then recently for some reason we've both really wanted to watch it so we got the 4 disc ultimate edition second hand on Amazon Epic film! Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
  22. Wow! I loved Robot Wars when I was younger, when it was on BBC2. Friday nights were brilliant, double bill of The Simpsons then Robot Wars Gooooood times!Chaos 2...legends!!
  23. I know!Although the odd thing is, when I was a kid I looked my age but I was short, always have been. The looking young for my age thing didn't start until I was in my teens. Sometimes I wonder if I've got something wrong or my hormones went wrong! I know other people who look young but I always get the worst reactions from people I'm sure actually everything's fine, cos everything else in terms of puberty etc was It is probably just cos my parents look young...and their parents do too!I'm dreading going back to college though...a girl who works at the cattery is also going but she's 16, she asked today how old I am, gave the worst reaction I've ever had, and now I'm dreading it happening again and again during the first few weeks. But I can't lie about my age, too much hassle. Maybe no one will ask my age, because I'll look 16? Goodness knows, but I better come up with some good comebacks (polite of course) to make myself feel better. Cos the annoying reality is, I can't force myself to look older, I can't stop people reacting the way they do, so I need to find some way to cope with it.Maybe I'll say, "What?!! Seriously, do I really look young for my age? I didn't realise, no one has ever said this to me before. Now I'm really upset and depressed and self-conscious now."Loooooool.
