  1. Wherever you sit in the front row (but only if you don't par attention to the swinging blades), you can see the drop and soemtimes, you can see the spikes as well.

Following their recent video, I can hardly see a Summer Festival coming that would be family-friendly... Do remember that a magic carpet ride was at Chessington, I think in the site that went on to be occupied by Samurai(?), so bringing Quantum to Chessie would surely defy logic. If any TP ride would get relocated to Cheesie, it would have to be Depth Charge in my opinion, because it suits the family appeal and with a spruce-up, it would look nice, but I can't see that happening anyway... (Sorry for the negativity).EDIT: My idea...2010: No new rides. The entrance is given a complete refurbrishment. All the on the day tickets can be purchased in a new building. The building is in place of the ticket booths there are now and extends a bit into what is now some of the queue line. The inside has TVs which show promotional videos of some of the rides and also gives information on what rides are down and if rides will be opening late, etc. Also, a new queue which isn't made from the ugly metal gates is introduced. It is made from wood and is coloured very brightly. Though it will be mainly made of a cattle-pen style queue, it will have some scenes in it showing some of the rides in small models, which would hopefully take some of the pain out of queuing to get in. Samurai would get a repaint and small retheme, with new music and a new name - something basic like Buzzsaw but a bit different (if you get what I mean). If it was economically viable to do so, Colossus would get a repaint with similar colours, but just different enough for the public to notice. If that was unable to happen this year, it would happen next year,2011: Slammer is replaced by a new flat with high capacity. A new coaster is announced for next year, it is a woodie and will be on Treasure Island.2012: New woodie opens. Honestly, I'm happy with my previous idea for a woodie, with it being marketed as 'Safe as Steel', etc. It's a few pages back if anyone wants to have a look at it. A Splash Battle also opens, and is also having some sort of wooden theme to it, fitting in with the whole 'wood crazy' park area. A new FN maze that is related to a lumberjack gone mental is also opened on the island. The idea of it is that you pass through many different scenes, each containing an actor playing the lumberjack, and also come into some close calls with some theming (a 'falling' tree). Though it wouldn't be as in your face as the others, it would hopefully scare people on a more psychological level.2013: Rather unfortuantely, most of Ranger County would have to be taken out. The sire that once occupied the Showcase and MHFS is taken up by a dark ride which would be psychologically exhilarating, but with less 'thrills'. It would also take up Mr Monkey's Banana Ride, in which a dropping section is put in place. A bigger Pirate Ship to replace the Banana Ride is put on the wooden related island. Due to the space that the Asylum had being taken away, the dark ride is turned 'Live' (a bit like Duel at AT), with actors on the ride, to compensate with the loss.

  4. By 'abusing it', I was told that people were getting too many re-rides without having to queue, and it was considering unfair to others. In other words, people were using SRQ to the full while still sticking in the rules. Lets face it, did anyone break the rules? Where on the rules of SRQ does it say you can't use it as many times as you like? And I do believe that groups who don't mind splitting up and riding by themselves are welcome to ride it. So no rules were broken - they were stuck to at all times. In my opinion, people can't say it was abused, because then you could say it is abusing the queue if people go to Inferno / Stealth at the beginning of the day (when it is dead) and get 5,6,7... re-rides. In the end, the rules were taken advantage of, and there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion. I honestly think it was just because Fastrack was finally installed an the park didn't want to upset paying guests by making ti look like they were queuing longer than SRQ-ers.
  5. £4.You do miss a lot of the queue line experience as well as all the tension building. You would probably have to wait no longer than 10 (maybe 15) minutes. If you want the full experience of SAW, go nearer the end of the day, when the queue won't be as long as it would have been the rest of the day.
  6. I think I remember seeing that very same idiot climbing back onto the bridge. I did not see him jump in or swim or anything like that, but I did see someone who looked remarkably like him climb onto the bridge, right by the entrance / exit. I didn't think much of it and I just thought he was a gardener of some sorts as I wasn't paying that much attention. It does just show how stupid some people are nowadays...

Very good build up to a very good themed idea and rides. However, starting the campaign in 2010 for 2012 rides? I think that would only work if it was late 2010 when the ride is put up for planning application. As for the TV ads, the general public wouldn't really care, so I think they'd have to be YouTube videos. Not putting down your great idea, but I doubt the general public would care about it, and would probably be confused by it.Apart from the small criticisms, very good.
  8. The main reason for Detonator's long queues is the fact it has a low capacity. 12 people per ride, but usually an empty seat on most rides, as well as onloading and offloading taking a long time (especially when people get stuck in their seats) means it gets long queues very easily. Adding Fastrack would just create more problems and bigger queues.

What I think Will was trying to say is that you're basically another member of a forum, who hasn't had as economically viable ideas as others, whereas where TP's ideas come from is from highly respected specialists who do it for a business and not just for fun. Most of your ideas Ste are very good, but would be very expensive, but in this topic, does it really matter about cost? No.

I have heard RUMOURS about Vekoma trying to doing a similar thing. It was built and the train pulled 10G's (bearing in mind the highest G's the body can take is around 5.5G's....
  11. Could I just ask if you could please use capital letters all the time and use proper grammar and that please. It's just it s slightly hard to read it all. Thanks I must say I agree with you. I do find that Admissions and Retail do seem to be left behind and not praised enough, especially when they are an essential part of the day. All Thorpe staff rule!

Here's MY Thorpe Park:2010: Small children's ride in MHFS spot. Jungle / Ranger themed. Samurai retheme and repaint. End of the year sees Colossus start to be repainted and refurbished. More events suitable for the whole family.2011: No Thrill Chill this season (only as a one off) so that work can be completed on Colossus repaint and a new entrance to be completed. No new rides. SAW has some effects changed to keep it entertaining for long time riders. General improvement to theming and working on a great atmosphere. FN maze Se7en is changed. 2012: A new wooden coaster opens in March (as Thrill Chill did return this year) on the new islands. I'm quite happy with my 'Safe as Steel' theme I came up with in a previous post, so it would be based around that. Would hope for it to only have a 1.3m restriction. One new flat ride, on a similar scale to Rush or Detonator, as well as a Splash Battle open on the island. A new FN maze opens in the area. 2013: Not much happens. Slammer replaced by a new flat; hopefully something new and innovative. 2014: X closes to be replaced by a new coaster next year that will cover its space as well as the arena. The ride itself is kept secret, but will have some digging take place.2015: New coaster opens, with an S&S Eagle coaster. The ride itself is very Nemesis like, in a pit dodging rocks, etc. and with the new style of coaster, a small story line along with some simple theming would create an amazing experience.

I feel on board audio on Colossus would work. Every time you go through an inversion, you hear it whispered. Would work great, but would never happen.

    Michael Jackson

Nothing major really to me. Yes, he's dead and it is a blooming great loss to the world, but I just don't really care. He would have done an amazing tour no doubt and would have pleased his fans, but I really don't care that much. Sorry if that seems harsh, but that's my viewpoint. Do feel very annoyed by how the media are being rather hypocritical though. ¬¬
  15. Without meaning to sound rude or anything, do you have to keep telling us?! You say it every other post and it is just getting annoying now. Again, not trying to sound rude Keith, its just that you say it so often it is just getting a waste of time posting it...
  16. The lighting has indeed changed. I think they added theming to it last month and changed the lighting so it could be seen or they needed to change the lighting so it could all be seen.As for the SAW audio, I could only assume they've been testing out different volumes, and you've heard a different a louder version...
  17. I still can't believe I got my vote in 30 seconds too late! Oh well, glad this whole competition is going well, will try and enter one sooner or later...
  18. Just putting this up again, to reiterate really. I'm 99% sure the park are planning their next coaster for 2012.As for the hotel opening itself, it is most likely to be built for 2013. This means the park has the chance to expand, use some of the new islands and have a new coaster open and some new flats most likely. This would be logically, as no one year is too expensive for them (or Merlin) and no one year would be to congested. However, it could be for 2012 to help accommodate with the Olympic tourists.

The same problem happened to me at one point - try installing Google Chrome, that solved my problem.
  20. Small rant with other elements mixed in...The admins and mods are busy for what seems like 5 minutes and now the whole forum seems to be crumbling away! I am honestly gob smacked! Can I just say - the admins and mods know what they are doing, do people have to tell them how to do their jobs!? Next, do people have to be rude / super-critical to newbies!? It is just rude, constructive criticism is helpful and remember - you don't really know who you are talking to, it could upset a person if you have had a go at!I now really feel sorry for the admins / mods. I now appreciate what they do so much. Remember, what they do is all in their own free time, so can't people just have a little more respect for other members and most importantly the admins and mods so that this forum doesn't go into self-destruct!?! Please...

It was said at during on of the first chats I think, that there will be designated times introduced soon - the opening now is rather soft. In other words, proper chats with a lot of people will be coming soon...
  22. Well, as FF is a powered coaster, I'd assume that it would reach the maximum speed (which is around 18.8MPH) in less time than that.As for the drop, it does feel of a similar speed to FF, so I'd assume it would be about 20MPH max.

    I'm on there right now!
  24. I think the reason why the indoor drop is much more 'forceful' than the main drop is because: It is usually unexpected. Most people can't prepare for it.It is smaller. It isn't as steep, thus meaning gravity pulls you down easier.
  25. Honestly, if you can cope with SAW, you'll be fine with Oblivion. Oblivion's drop is much smoother and longer, as well as being more fun. Therefore, you'll cope fine.As for the whole screaming thing, I do believe that for quite a lot of people, screaming is a way of releasing the adrenaline that is made when you're on such thrill rides. I know many people who scream on rides after they've been on it many times, for fun, or as a way to release the adrenaline. While I find the drop and the blades rather bland and more for show, some people may find screaming helps (that, or they are just generally scared).
