Car insurers. Utter crooks the lot of them. In June I had a car crash at work, some old fool drove out in front of me mostly because he was blind. I was found not at fault, the in car black box we have proved I was driving within speed limits, his insurers have paid the whole claim, and it was on a work policy anyway so would have no relevance to my private car insurance. All future work driving will also be on a work policy. Inform my insurers and they decided it increases my premium by £20 per year. What the hell? How does that work? Raging at the injustice.

Although I for one don't think it will open in time, on the hugely limited basis of me knowing nothing other than at the moment (two months after our nearest comparison Saw was finished track wise) there is a big hole in the ground, a massive meccano set on the floor, it has been raining and windy to the extreme and we are predicted a harsh winter. PANIC!

I don't think that is really very fair at all, that is not what people are saying. If this is all true it may be the case that the roof as it is has to be removed so they are not doing it for the sake of it, the two points people are making are - why could it not have been maintained before getting into the state where it is no longer safe? It has been visibly deteriorating for years so this will be no surprise. - once they have removed it why not put another one there? It is hardly a massive job in the scheme of things and the drop in the dark is a fairly integral part of the overall ride experience. People are just disappointed the park would allow this sort of thing to happen. You don't seem to be suggesting removal of the tunnel would improve the ride experience for guests, so why should it be allowed to happen? And if it does happen why should people not have the hump about it and vent here? Would be a weird bunch of enthusiasts if we didn't!

Boo, we all want to know! Didn't mean to aggressively rant at you above, more at this H+S is to blame notion the crops up time and again for various fails everywhere. Bottom line is a tunnel can be there if they want it to be there enough.

It is not down to health and safety. Sorry for the being pedantic, but blaming or excusing these things on the always mythical 'health and safety' really chafes my pickle. There is no health and safety executive directive saying tunnels on log flumes can't exist. There is common sense saying you can not have theming falling in peoples faces, DLRP tried that and it didn't work out well. The only reason it would be in danger of collapse, and therefore not be able to remain, is if Thorpe failed to maintain it properly (or didn't build it properly in the first place but that seems unlikely here as it has been there longer than most people on this forum have been alive). It has been and can continue to be done safely. If they are removing it is because of their unwillingness to maintain it to a reasonable standard, not because it can't be done due to 'health and safety'. #rant

I'm not a religious man by a very long shot, but for me the best words to live are the biblical and very simple "Do unto others as you would have them do to you". Covers everything really. The quote I probably use more than any other (language warning) ... A bit less deep and so 2009, but it still makes me laugh and I like to say it when it is least appropriate for my own amusement.

That sucks. Little drop in the dark makes the ride much more interesting. How is it possibly too much work or money to replace the roof? It really isn't a big job.

Really looking forward to the season countdown reading a nice consistent 111:11:11:11 in about half hour.

Is it any less temporary though? Considering this is still a fairly new and small company building these who have other clients and bookings to fulfil and a limited number of boxes available, are they going to have certain times away at other sites? Just a guess, but as the build and dismantle time is so short I wouldn't be too surprised if that did happen on occasion through the season and it is even more likely over closed season. Either way I think they'll look exactly like that apart from the makeshift wooden stairs replaced with proper ones and hopefully some cladding around the base instead of tarp.

The new water ride at CP Elveden opened today, video on the link... http://www.centerpar...tropicalcyclone Hard to tell from a vid, it looks alright but not sure it makes the most of the bloody great cone. The crazy rapids there still look better.

I fell for the hype and went to see Skyfall. It is better than the hype, a stunning film. 9/10

For those who want to look, new areal shots have gone up on TT this eve. They are a bit underwhelming though as quite unbelievably it still hasn't gone vertical. For comparison this is from the Saw construction archive here.. So SW7 is at least 2 months behind Saw at the same point, and we all know how ready for opening Saw was on day one. Oh dear.

Which, if they do want a year round maze, leaves the goal striker shed with Carnival in it. Don't know how well that would work as a permanent feature, but it would be better than goal striker, that's for sure!

Playing Insomnia on the spoons, what's not to like? Officially my favourite tramp ever, and there's some stiff competition on that list I can tell you.

It doesn't seem to say yet, I guess they'll announce nearer the time. Also in the calendar are the dates for next years Halloween event which looks to be a massive 7 days long and sticking with the daft 19.00hrs close. Another year I won't be going then.
