The last day of it was today, they were just doing it over Easter. I'm sure they'll do something similar in the future though.
-
Completely agree, I think it's a great move. However I do think it's a shame it wasn't really advertised on their website or around the park, I only saw it advertised on Twitter. On Sunday 12th at 7pm them 6 rides were obviously open, but there was just no one there, just staff standing around at each ride. Hopefully this won't put them off keeping rides open later in the future, not sure if there was people still riding later on other days? I think it would be good if Annual pass holders could also use this benefit, seeing as there was no one there anyway. I think annual pass holders could when it was Depth Charge and Vortex?

It's a shame about X, it's one of the only rides I had never seen on reduced capacity before this season. As well as that, it seems to be having a lot of downtime. Again, I don't think I had seen X break down once before I don't think Detonator will be too long now, it's a reliable ride and has seemed to be waiting for a part for a long long time now. Colossus' 2nd train I imagine to be running very soon. I was told on Sunday that the 2nd train will be coming back to the park the next day, however some say it's always been at Thorpe? I have no idea, but the shed was open and it didn't look like it was in there.
-
I don't think Thorpe has received the budget cuts the other parks has seemed to be getting yet. For example 6 rides have been open for hotel guests until 9 last week and this week, which is great. I haven't noticed any less staff either, I've only seen more. Opened at 9:15 for annual pass holders on Sunday and got told this is a permanent thing. The opening times are also good, much better than Alton and Chessington.

Sunday 12th April Best day at the park I've had in a long long time, a lot quieter than I expected. Was told the annual pass building wouldn't be open till 10, but it opened at 10 past 9! We went straight to the park and the annual pass holders were already aloud in (9:20) and I was told they were let in at 9:15 and the normal ticket holders won't be in till 10. I was also told it'll be like this every weekend! It was great Closed all day: Slammer, Detty and Samurai. Slammer and Detty were just sitting there Samurai was being worked on most of the day and has a cherry picker outside. Can't believe it's closed again already Ridecount IAC x3 Nemesis Inferno x6 Stealth x5 Colossus x3 The Swarm x2 Saw x1 Rush x4 Dodgems x2 Loggers x2 Quantum x1 Rumba x1 Vortex x1 X x1 Zodiac x1 TOTAL: 33 Positives: - Although having a pretty poor experience on I'm a celebrity the first time, it got better and better throughout the day and really enjoyed it. Very impressive. - A lot quieter than I expected, didn't wait longer than 15 minutes for anything (Apart from IAC at the end of the day) - Ride availability was great, didn't see any breakdowns apart from the rumba. Storm Surge opened around 1 but that didn't affect me. All coasters on full capacity apart from Colossus and X. - Re-rides on Inferno - Best ride I've ever had on Vortex! - Atmosphere in the Saw station felt really good, theme music was very loud! And the offload theme has returned. - The Swarm team were amazing, dispatching the train before the other train had even gone over the station. I didn't even know this was possible, I thought the other train had to hit the breaks. It also seemed a lot more forceful! - Annual pass holders got 45 minutes of early ride time! - Most of the staff seemed very friendly! - Pizza pasta was great. Negatives: - Queue times never seemed to be updated or very inaccurate. For example Inferno stating 15 minutes for the last hour when it was going around with seats empty (although it did kind of work in our favour ) - 2 favorite flats closed - Rush and Quantum were playing no music at all, and Vortex was just playing music, not the theme music. - Saw was rough - Although Rush had 4 hosts, they took forever to load and unload. 2 of them were just constantly talking to each other. One swing would be ready (all restraints checked and the hosts just waiting) and the other 2 would be finishing their conversation with the operator and then went off to do the other swing. Once they did that swing, they went back to the console for another chat before going back to where they're meant to be. Shame to see 2 hosts being so committed to give a good experience and the other 2 not giving one. At the end of the cycle they would go straight to the console to talk, where as the other 2 would come and speak to guests, asking if they enjoyed it etc... What should of been no queue ended up being about 10 minutes. Same kinda thing happened on X, even though it's on reduced capacity and had one of the highest queues all day.

How do you know this? The workshop was open yesterday and I couldn't see it (unless it was right at the back)

So at the end of the day I had a look at clipboard with all the hourly throughputs on and the best today was 164 people in an hour, most of today it was running at around 140. There was defiantly more than 40 people coming up the disabled queue every hour, so the main queue was under 100 an hour Today wasn't a busy day, and it still had a 100+ queue for most of the day so I couldn't imagine what it would be like on a busy day. My opinion has changed on the maze though, my first run through was pretty poor ( my post earlier) but I've had another 2, and everytime it's got better and better. The last one of the day was by far the best, I'll post a mini review later
-
Really enjoyed the Swarm today, seemed much more forceful. Best operations I've seen on the swarm today "You have 15 seconds to board this train or its leaving without you.) They were going for the throughput record (which is 47 trains in an hour) and they ended up getting 2 trains off. Good to see, wish they did it more often, especially when it's busy.

Went on I'm a celebrity this morning, overall I thought it was alright but I want another run through later. The them sing and everything was excellent, was pretty amazing. Even had moving trees and stuff. The trials I thought were dreadful, holey moley was pointless, you put your hand in a hole for 10 seconds with nothing in. Chambers of horror was alright, we only got asked 2 questions but nothing happened to me, the light just went off, didn't even know if it was right of wrong. My brother got oats dropped on him though. Celebrity cyclone would of been better if it had the cargo net, with no instructions we just ran up a hill and went down the slide.

Colossus' train is still of park, but they are getting it back tomorrow!
-
That's great, it was down this morning. Saw a post on Facebook today and they plan on having Samurai open tomorrow as well.
-
So Detty, Slammer and Vortex are all still closed and Samurai has been closed the last 2 days now as well. Shame that quite a lot of flats have been having problems this year, Detty and Vortex are normally pretty reliable, and Samurai doesn't normally die this early
-
That's annoying, hopefully it'll open at half 9.
-
I'm going this Sunday too Every weekend I went last year I was let in around half 9, so I assume it'll be the same (I haven't been this season yet) Only problem is I have to get my annual pass in the morning, but the annual pass building may not open till 10? Anyone know roughly what time it opens or the earliest someone's seen it open?
-
Doesn't sound good, Vortex is normally pretty reliable. Saw a picture of them working on restraints a couple of days ago so it looks like it's got multiple issues. While you were on park today, did you see the current state of Detty? Heard its in pieces.
-
There was a 4th, Samurai has been closed all day today. I'm going on Sunday, and expecting it to be pretty quiet to be honest. Every Time I've been on the last day of the holidays it has been dead, so hope this Sunday is the same!
-
Theme park guide posted on Facebook today that the Cargo net section in the celebrity cyclone has been removed. I'm yet to have been in the attraction as well, but the people that have, why would this of been removed?
-
It's good to be different [emoji6] The swarm side 1 (right of the track) or side 2 (left of the track)
-
At least they've got it open Think it's a better idea that it's allocation only to be honest, as queues would be absolutely ridiculous while on 1 train.
-
^ Agreed. My favorite flat, personally. It's the only one left in the world, it probably doesn't have much long left so I'd ride it while you can Most people either love it or hate it.
-
That would be good. I'm not sure how you sign up for it, but if you do via your website it would be cool if you could select which rides you wanted, how often etc...
-
I would personally find that useful, and I don't see why not seeing as it's completely free.
-
Oh right. When I looked at the website it just said Rumba and Samurai will be open for Easter, so maybe that was soon changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't believe they said Slammer will open for Easter? They only confirmed that Samurai and Rumba will open for Easter, and they managed to open them both a week before. About Slammer, I've heard rumours that it's getting signed off this month so it shouldn't be too long. All the scaffolding has been removed, so I imagine testing and staff training will begin soon.
