    Slammer

thanks, ah well with another trip end of next trip, I should hopefully get to ride it after it being closed before may last year which was my first visit of the year!

    Slammer

so any news if slammer was open today? going tomorrow and not sure whether to get my hopes up or not aha!
  3. they hardly had a choice but to retheme it, as it's next to where angry birds 4d will go... plus it has a lower height restriction of 1.3m which allows kids to go on (having been with a 9 year old who said it was her favourite ride as she wasn't tall enough for the coasters) - so it can only be a good thing, plus looking forward to the announcements and theme music!
  4. I've never found detonator to create fear in any way, due to it being so short (apocalypse does, because it's taller)... anyway considering it's only going to be closed about a week before for a retheme, I can't see an awful lot being done to it!
  5. is there a possibility they had plans for a used rollercoaster to replace the area of brer rabbit, but lost the bidding for it...
  6. Well currently with the free tickets for Alton Towers, here's what else to expect from The Sun this year... 'WE'VE teamed up with Merlin Entertainments to bring you The Sun’s Superdays — great ways to entertain your family for FREE this year. Superdays coming soon include LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, THORPE PARK Resort, Chessington and Warwick Castle.'
  7. Oh yeah I so hope they still do the two part cycle, as I swear (unless the guests shouting for a better ride saying it was boring) ripsaws cycle is just the 1st part of the one they have had Rameses revenge on, so I'd be seriously gutted if they've changed it!
  8. could it be just so that it doesn't operate as many cycles in a day, therefore extending the life of the ride?
  9. Basically... Get new trains like this for Colossus, and you could even advertise it! Personally I hate Colossus's restraints as they're far too bulky and hate feeling so overly clausterphobic from being tall - lap bars would seriously make me love the ride, as it probably is my favourite in the park, just the trains let it down!
  10. To be fair I don't think I've actually ridden any decent woodies for me to have an opinion on wanting thorpe to get one, instead of thinking how cool outlaw run looks. Magnus Colossus at Terra Mitica I enjoyed but apparently people hate it as it's too slow and rough Gwazi at Busch Gardens was a long time ago but all I can remember is coming off with a headache BPB woodies, none of them really stood out to me as being a great ride Megafobia at Oakwood, only ridden once, in the dark and did enjoy it, but would love to experience it again to make a conclusion. admittedly the POV of Wodan does look great, but I can't have an opinion until I've experienced one... just still would rather see (and ride!) an RMC than a general woodie.
  11. RMC woodie (think outlaw run not goliath style) around loggers leap / Canada creek railway... seriously would be amazing, and unique for the UK which is what merlin like to do with their investment, plus would be easy to theme to the Canadian area and breathe a new lease of life.
  12. So is it operational this season then?
  13. that sounds alright then... so what exactly had planning be declined for?
  14. oh righty... so the closed existing play area was supposed to be removed and a new one would go nearer pirate falls, but this got planning declined?
  15. so what is pirate shores then? I thought that was the new (moved) play area...
  16. I really like the noise too... but then I guess you go to a theme park to be immersed in the theme, as if you're in a different place, away from the real world. I wouldn't say I would be angry if they removed the noise, only if they clearly play the lost city (or the individual ride) theme song loops in its place, and not just have silent areas etc.
  17. considering I paid £297 (well my parents did) for 3 premium passes, any sort of perk on top of that amazing saving is a bonus in my opinion, and I really like the idea of the birthday voucher, plus I persuaded my friend to get the premium over the standard, based on the fact the fast track vouchers that you got with the premium pass - I think the lanyards look ridiculous, and I would rather keep mine in my wallet too, although a pass holder like a little wallet/sleeve would have been pretty cool, and a lot more useful!
  18. Surely planes wouldn't be able to fly anywhere near that height though regardless...
  19. The problem is families spend the most money in the market... so anything aimed primarily at thrill seekers like thorpe was, was a bad decision due to in general teenagers having less money and therefore probably not being able to afford to go, same with dungeons I guess, try to broaden who it appeals to - although I still thought it was great fun definitely with some scary bits! So basically we'll see big and thrilling additions probably less often than now, and will see the money spent on attractions trying to appeal to everyone - so doubt we'll see the next coaster with a 1.4m restriction at thorpe! :/
  20. I got a feeling it may be a seperate park within the resort... so The main park, waterpark and now ferarri land. And I think it read somewhere about tallest and fastest launch coaster in europe, so technically it could only be 210ft as that's higher than stealth which I believe is currently the tallest launch coaster in europe? either way I can't see it being higher than Shambalha (or however you spell it aha!)
  21. ah righty okayy, just a lost opportunity if there was any way to push their luck... although I'm sure they tried!
  22. Just a thought... I wonder why thorpe didn't seize the opportunity to have the highest coaster in the UK when they built stealth, with the big one only being a few feet taller than what stealth is!?
  23. I personally don't ever recall hearing this after visiting the park on 8 occasions last year... or even what sounds like a problem with the music on Colossus.
  24. http://www.merlinannualpass.co.uk/perks.aspx They haven't got rid of the family and friends perk, although never realised this was something I was getting - and personally I love the idea of the birthday vouchers, as it's great if you can manage to use them around your birthday As for the language they use, it is a bit weird as if you're a child aha!
  25. It says in my Merlin Privilege Pack... Legoland Windsor Pirate Shores Opening March 2014
