As more and more information comes to light the more and more I think they are adding a maze. The attraction is typical Merlin, good initial idea which turned into something trying to do everything and then poorly executed. The floating train is cool although makes absolutely no sense. The VR is just terrible along with the live action portion. They would have to improve so much for this attraction to be half decent that I don't think it's possible without starting from scratch which with Merlin just isn't going to happen.

Gate price has gone up but online advanced tickets have been lowered by something like £3. So there is very little change in price. The hours are just so abismal it's not worth visiting. I'd spend more time getting there and going home than the park is open. All this cost cutting is running the park into the ground and I'm sure it will start hurting gate figures soon if it hasn't already done so.

Any chance of a Q&A thing with him on the forum or something along those lines?
-
I am aware of that, but what I'm trying to get at is that they are selling the absolute minimum as exceptional care for their parks when in reality it's far from it.
-
The Twitter account is just a joke. It's all basic stuff that happens at every park and trying to sell it to the public as "towers loving care" is insulting. I get they are trying to show they care but the very existence of this account proves that they don't and that it's all about brand image.

The words more intense live action completely removes any hope I had for redemption in this ride and I highly suspect it means they are sticking a maze on the end. As for the advert stupid jump scares were never going to be approved and I'm amazed Thorpe even tried to get it aired.

I am pretty certain Sub Terra is never coming back and I would be surprised if hex returns next year as well. If blade goes then Alton will somehow become worse than it is now which would be a major achievement.

I'm calling the technology poor for this use. LSM for other launches where high speed and acceleration isnt the aim it does wonders but when it's being used to do very high speeds like this ride it doesn't perform as well as a winch would for rider experience. Yeah it's cheaper to run but look at how small the trains are as a result.
-
Well the fact it's using LSM instead of a hydraulic winch means it can't accelerate the train anywhere near the level of a winch. Presumably it is also to blame for the small trains seeing as the smaller trains will make it easier to launch. This ride compared to its US equivalents is smaller, lower top speed and a slower acceleration despite being built 10 years later.
-
Oh Jesus the 12 seat trains where the whole thing. Its poor launch technology which launch it with poor acceleration. Everything about this coaster is just poor.
-
Well looking at the lack lustre layout I can already tell you that isn't going to happen. The layout is uninspiring and if the IP is the wickerman then I can safely write this coaster off as a missed opportunity already.

Oakwood x1 Thorpe x1 portaventura x5 (Only 1 day where we spent the whole day there, the other days were the water park or just a few hours in the evening. Its a terribly run park and I would probably never return.)

Is 11 weeks of testing the norm for a new coaster? It seems like quite a lot to me for what is really a quite simple coaster.
-
Mac's don't have the CPU/GPU power needed to run planet coaster well. As a result frontier decided not to develop the game for it.

The booster is often taken down for maintenance.

"Most Disappointing Merlin Moment 2016" My god that is difficult.
-
The problem with a refurb is it doesn't bring in new people and so doesn't make any money in the short term. As a result Merlin were never going to spend the money and so it got to a state where it was run down its popularity dropped and now it's closed. Merlin is so focused on the short term that I am certain this is just the next ride to suffer this fate in a long list which will form over the next few years.

Yet failed to call the emergency services for 20 minutes. I wouldn't call that textbook. Taking responsibility was really they only thing they could do. If they blamed Gerst then they would have had a lawsuit on there hands for defamation.
-
At least a little more accurate than when LadBible reported on it which stated afterwards she went on rush where the same thing happened. I do like the way both articles make it sound like she walked passed the queue to get off and not use the exit. If she was truly humiliated she wouldn't have gone to the press.

You must be new to Merlin investments. Welcome to the first of many disappointments.
-
Well SW8 is for 2018. It won't take that long to remove a flume. The amount of closed rides is excessive and really puts me off from visiting. They already had a great lack of flat rides and closing more was never going to help. Merlin went about the wrong way to fix it after the smiler issue. They chose the money saving solution rather than convince the people back solution resulting in a loss of "magic".

Is there much that can go wrong with 2 lights on a pole? It seems a pretty simple thing. I suspect it's more the engineers have far more important things to be working on. Which was a concern from the start. The only concern about the attraction that has not yet come true is the disappearance of actors which I'm sure is just a few years away.
-
Oh that's fair enough. No point getting a load of passes printed when they might not even need them.
-
Probably ran out of coaster/maze passes and started giving out the standard coaster ones.
-
I would send an email to guest services. If Merlin want to "push the boundaries" with new technology then when it goes wrong they need to pick up the pieces. To queue up 3 times and waste a huge amount of time to not even get on it once is a joke. 2 fastracks that can't even be used on the mazes is a bit insulting in my eyes.
