Ian-S reacted to Coaster in Logger's Leap
And this is where I get frustrated with Thorpe/Merlin. They're happy to throw money at things like I'm a Celebrity, Storm Surge and Saw Alive, but when it comes to refurbishing a very popular ride that has served the park for years, they aren't willing to spend the money. Loggers Leap has been open for 26 years, I'd be amazed if I'm a Celebrity is still open in 5 years.
In addition to this, if this is the case then why did they announce that it was closed "whilst it's being rennovated" before they knew for definite that this would be the case?
This would be true, however Thorpe have also stated that Loggers is/was being "rennovated," and "redeveloped for next season."

LOL loggers is supposed to be closed for refurbishments too but nobody believes that.
All I'm saying is yes they are not coasters, but both Loggers and The Flumes were extremely popular family rides, I would expect them to do a big goodbye event for Colossus if it ever closed, but considering the way the other rides have been treated, coupled with the fact that the last big 'goodbye' event was eight years ago, I wouldn't be assuming Merlin have any thought for fans desires to say goodbye. Their focus has changed over the years.
Edit: I didn't include Bubbleworks because we all know that 'event' was just a cynical money grab and they never had any intention of tearing the ride down.

Ian-S reacted to Cal in Closed Rides
Slammer has probably had the best season its ever had! 10x better than the last few anyway, opened on AP day and has only had a few weeks closed and then closed less than a week before the end of season (it could still open again.) The past few, it's opened months later and suffered more downtime throughout the season. Glad Thorpe spent the money on it!

Ian-S got a reaction from Roodie in Kolmården Wildlife Park
It's a bit different to Paultons though, they went down the "better to ask forgiveness" route and just built their rides without planning permission at all, this lot have, it appears, gone to the effort of complying with the regulations, applied for permission, had it granted etc. then built the ride.
Only now to have the local authority flip flop their decision and reverse it which is something you cannot do outside of the appeals time limit, if I were the park I'd tell the LA to go do something physically impossible to do but if they did that, they'd never get permission for a rubbish bin again let alone more rides.
Local Authorities can be incredibly spiteful, and stupid, a fine example here. This is the kind of situation where local authority does something dumb, makes owner tear down ride, park suffers, closes, then local authority complains the park closure has hurt the local economy, dumber than a box of frogs.

Does more intense for 2017 mean that they will squeeze your leg twice next year?

Yet failed to call the emergency services for 20 minutes. I wouldn't call that textbook. Taking responsibility was really they only thing they could do. If they blamed Gerst then they would have had a lawsuit on there hands for defamation.

Another thing I saw was the station was a rotating one like Thorpe/Alton/Lego but they stopped using it and used a different stop/start procedure to load and offload because of "safety concerns" over it's movement, ironic if that was a contributing factor.
I have to say though whoever thought having an unprotected open mechanical conveyor that easily accessible was a good idea needs to find a new career, we stopped doing that in factories 30 years ago because the risk was too high.

Ian-S got a reaction from L7123456 in Are Walking Sticks Allowed at Thorpe park?
My friends son regularly has to use crutches/walking sticks or a wheelchair due to a medical condition and they never have any issues, some rides have stairs access only (Inferno) and others have wheelchair lifts you can use if walking upstairs is a problem, assuming they work (Saw's wasn't last time so we gave him a piggyback much to the dismay of the ride ops), but other than that they may just politely point out access might be a problem but they won't turn you away.
They take more interest in amputees than they do anything else.

If the photo layout I've seen on an aussie news site is right it was at the point where the boats are returned back into the station, think how viking river rapids dumps you into the station at legoland, a bigger version of that.
The easiest way to explain it is put two paper plates on the worktop, hold one and moderately push the other, chances are the one you're pushing will go under the one your holding, or over it. Factor in the ride, the upturned boat was coming down a ramp so it had momentum, the other boat was jammed, probably being weighted down by the water trying to push it, the boat coming down the ramp would in theory have ridden up the front boats rubber dingy part and the conveyor belt would continue to push the boat (like the plate), it's only going to do two things, flip up on it's end/side, or stay in place until the laws of physics take over or someone stops the conveyor. This doesn't even consider where the people were sitting, four adults and two kids could be loaded unevenly.
What I dare not think about is one report I read said they were having to bring in heavy industrial equipment to dismantle the ride and recover the bodies, and another that said some of the victims "suffered immediate injuries inconsistent with continued life" urgh.

I meant to type unclip but the tablet was playing silly buggers and wouldn't let me correct it, might take a while to unlick her bra if it was made of edible paper I'd imagine lol.
Which one is Rush again? The giant swings? Doesn't that have lap bars?

Well if she couldn't fit on Rush because of her chest then all I'm saying is they must hang extremely low
Plenty of people can't get on certain rides because of size restrictions and have to exit the ride (not walk through the queue line!) - she obviously wasn't that traumatised by the event because she went off to the press.

"People who can't fit on theme park rides are immigrants and give you cancer"
There you go Daily Mail, there's your next headline.

They either expect her to go back to her own country (BRITAIN FOR THE BRITISH) or blame Bulgarians and Polish for overwhelming our borders.
You decide.

Ian-S reacted to Whatever in Fright Nights 2016
If we're meaning a fight that happened in the Blair Witch queue on Friday, my friends saw it happen. Apparently all the temporary queue fences were being shoved about and a man started strangling a girl. I joined my mates as the staff were moving the fences back. Most likely they were escorted off park.

Maybe they're installing some equipment to fix the overheating problem with the headsets? Like err air conditioning?
OK, it's Merlin, I'll show myself out...
