Matthew
After visiting today, I thought that a topic about this impressive park wouldn't go a miss! This park is mainly Simulators and walk through attractions - but still a park not to be missed!I'll spark some rides to talk about...The Mummy Returns - Amazing ride! You're on these crate kind of trains which embark on a journey into the depths of the tomb, where Imhotep wants to capture your souls to gain imortality. The special effects in here are extremely extensive and Universal have really gone the 'extra mile' to make this a ride and a half! You have several transfer tracks within where you will go backwards. There's also turntables and a launch hill! I'm trying not to spoil this ride for first time riders. But it has a few suprises within too!DISASTER - This ride used to be the Earthquake ride where you go on the subway train and everything seems to go wrong in the earthquake. But since last time I visited (2001) it has become Disaster Movie Studios, where you are all filmed and a whole movie trailer is based on your group (of about 50) but it manages to fit you all in. This really was my favourite ride here, and everyone should go on it.Oh yes, the food outlets here are great! They have the Meal Deal here too - where you can eat all day! Which I know would intrest some members on here

Matthew
NO! Earthquake changed!? I loved Earthquake!it's still the same ride ... just not as random! The only gonner is the huge water finale, instead it's got another train which crashes into you.Really 'Disaster' is worth it. But it's still Earthquake , just I assume with a heck of alot of life pumped back into it.

theface102
Revenge of the Mummy is such an amazing ride! My favourite indoor coaster. I love the way it sometimes goes backwards and oops better stop there. Dont want to spoil it for anyone! What they've changed Earthquake!!! But why did they need to, it was great as it was. 5 times ive been to Orlando and its always been Earthquake!Does anyone else remember Kongfrontation which is where Revenge of the Mummy is now in Universal Orlando, that was a great ride and its a shame it kept breakng down and was eventually replaced.Universal Studios will never be the same with Back to the Future either. It was a bit old but I still got enjoyment out of it. Ive yet to try The Simpsons Ride, has anyone done it yet?
Dan_Rush
I've never enjoyed Earth quake or Twister, I guess that the show part has always put me offI love Jaws, very cleverly done. "Come in Amity 5, Come in Amity5!", I love all the affects. Also enjoy E.T, I think him saying your name at the end of the ride is really something, and the way he says it just makes it seem so magical!Always loved Jimmy Neutron, Terminator 4d and Men in black, mainly Men in black because of the fast spinning
bubbly
I went in August and went on the Simpsons ride and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I am a huge fan of the Back to the Future ride but think they have done well replacing it with the Simpsons ride.I absolutely loved Revenge of the Mummy. The effects were amazing!!! It is by far my favourite indoor coaster!
Chantelle ^.^
Universal Studios is one of my fav theme parks at Orlando Florida =]I had a funny experience with the Revenage of the Mummy Ride. The first Time I went on that ride was in 2004, I got sooo scared that I wanted to get off x.xBut since I'm older now I think I'll enjoy it this time xDAnd plus I heard that they replaced Back to the Future with The Simpsons Ride, I love The Simpsons and all, but they shouldn't of replaced it =/ and for the Earthquake ride I think all they did was revamped it
pluk
1 - I've found a topic only posted in by people who have gone away. 2 - Wow, want...... Soft opening has started, it looks amazing. Would love it if Universal would sell a clone of this / Spiderman / Potter to a UK park, it's the only way will ever get anything like it. Benin
Dunno, it might be possible to get one as Huntik opened in Italy last year, Universal do not have the rights to this ride system (see also: BGW and DarKastle)... Universal just have the money to plunge onto these unfortunately... And I can't see any of our parks having one of these really... Unless Towers removed Charlie with this... Liam T
Transformers looks epic! Westcoaster has posted a full preview of it and having follow through the construction of it, it looks amazing Link here to the preview here : http://www.westcoast...updateCD=042012 Also Merlin if you reading this... Nemesis : Sub-Terra needs one of them signs like, now. Once again Universal pulled of another brilliant movie themed ride, hope USF get ones of these Not sure the Uk could pull of such a thing like this! Like benin said, Uk's budgets are tight for ride systems... almost too tight *stares at ABC rides*
Benin
Why would Sub Terra need one of those signs, that's only there because it's Soft Opening... One thing the all year around parks can do, whilst the UK parks just have to risk it for a biscuit come opening day...
pluk
As I said elsewhere, a sign very much like that should have been up in those awful first couple of weeks when it was clear it was not working properly. There's a lot of people who experienced the failure it originally was and think that is what it was supposed to be and they don't read this stuff to put them straight. People who now think a lot less of Towers and are likely telling their mates not to bother. As for getting one in the UK it is not so much the ride hardware that I think would be the problem, but letting our guys loose with the effects and actual execution would likely end in disaster, that's why I think a clone would be just fine. As for the cost, clearly it's a massive investment but now Universal have basically done the R+D at their own expense I'm sure it is realistic. It is the sort of thing that pretty much alone could turn the fortunes of a park in the UK, Nemesis style.
NikhilSharma
I'll be going in august this year. I went last year and I loved it.. I did the tram tour twice. And no queues which was even better

pluk
Universal City, California, April 8, 2014 – Reaffirming its position as the #1 tourist destination in Los Angeles with one of the most progressive and exciting theme park experiences anywhere, Universal Studios Hollywood, is making an unprecedented five-year investment in revolutionary new thrill rides and expansive themed environments that will radically alter the familiar footprint and landscape of The Entertainment Capital of L.A.This monumental transformation, the most significant undertaking in the theme park’s storied 50 year history, will have substantial impacts across all facets of L.A.’s economic spectrum from job creation to tourism. Representing the single largest investment ever made, this sweeping makeover began in 2012 with the introduction of the award-winning mega-attraction, “Transformers: The Ride—3D” and will culminate in 2016 with the much-anticipated Los Angeles debut of “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.” “This is a pivotal time in the history of Universal Studios Hollywood as we build upon our extraordinary success and expand our vision for the future of our world-class destination,” said Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood. “This broad investment in our five-year transformation will further strengthen Universal Studios Hollywood as an economic leader, significantly contributing to long-term employment opportunities and tourism throughout L.A.” “This amazing investment by Universal Studios Hollywood represents a dramatic boost for Los Angeles tourism, creating new world class entertainment that will add new jobs, stimulate hospitality revenues and contribute to the economic prosperity of our city,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. From its humble beginnings 50 years ago, Universal Studios Hollywood has remained true to its roots of immersing guests in the awe-inspiring world of movie-making magic, providing remarkable access to movie sets on a real working studio lot. Its once celebrated “Glamour Trams” have evolved to become the now world-famous Studio Tour and a hallmark attraction, bringing millions of guests onto areas of an authentic movie and television studio typically restricted to authorized movie production personnel and into that elusive world motivated by three compelling words: lights, camera, action. The evolution of breakthrough, next-generation thrill rides has continued to revolutionize the theme park renowned for its innovative collaborations with top Hollywood filmmakers and the greatest creative minds in entertainment – Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Michael Bay, Chris Meledandri – whose credibility contribute immensely to a ride’s authenticity. Working in collaboration with Universal Creative, the visionary design and development division of Universal Parks & Resorts, Universal Studios Hollywood has crafted an ambitious blueprint for the future of the theme park detailing its expansive redesign and mega-attraction introductions. “Transformers: The Ride—3D” set the stage for this epic transformation in 2012 and raised the bar for immersive, technologically advanced entertainment offered at Universal Studios Hollywood or elsewhere. Working in partnership with award-winning filmmaker Michael Bay and the technical luminaries at Industrial Light & Magic, the ride infused an adrenalized multi-level ride-track and visceral special effects with one of the most elaborate flight simulation ride systems ever created. Housed within a newly built 60,000 square foot structure, the ride utilized the highest, most sophisticated resolution of 3D-HD technology available to virtually launch guests into the dynamic, action-packed robotic world of the Transformers. In summer 2013, the interior focal point of the theme park profoundly changed with the installation of Universal Plaza, a visually aesthetic 37,000 square foot art deco styled piazza. This impressive and versatile polygon-shaped entertainment venue sits at the heart of the theme park as a welcoming open air courtyard, architecturally reminiscent of classic Hollywood glamour. Featuring a soaring 70 foot tall tower emblazoned with the word Universal, the venue is large in scope, yet provides a warm and inviting environment to host an array of special events and entertainment. On April 12, 2014, “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land” will open at Universal Studios Hollywood. Based on Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Academy Award® and Golden Globe Award-nominated film franchise, and created in collaboration with Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination Entertainment, “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” will resonate with the same endearing qualities and characters that catapulted the franchise to international blockbuster fame. The footprint for “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land,” however, will serve as a crucial turning point for the theme park, as the adventure represents its first foray into fully expansive themed environments aimed at immersing visitors from the moment they enter the space. From experiencing Gru’s neighborhood to Miss Hattie’s Home for Girls and the imaginative seaside carnival, this all-encompassing approach is a decisive departure from the park’s more commonly used vignette ride exteriors to create holistic experiences and transport guests to that imaginary place. 2015 will be a momentous year for the theme park with two spectacular attractions debuting as part of the 50th anniversary. “Springfield” an immersive land surrounding “The Simpsons Ride” will open in Spring 2015 and in Summer 2015, “Fast & Furious—Supercharged,” based on the blockbuster film series, will be introduced as the grand finale to the celebrated Studio Tour. The former layout of the park will become unrecognizable when “Springfield” hometown of America’s favorite family, The Simpsons, breathes new life to the sprawling and vibrant space surrounding “The Simpsons Ride.” “Springfield” will capture the spirit of the town and engage visitors and fans of the show in the intensely absorbing and colorful world made famous throughout the series’ 25 seasons. “Springfield” is being designed to make guests feel as if they are being propelled through their television sets into the accurately depicted city, complete with signature eateries from Krusty Burger to Luigi’s Pizza and Phineas Q. Butterfat’s 5600 Flavors Ice Cream Parlor to iconic watering holes like Moe’s Tavern and Duff’s Brewery. “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” will be a pulse-pounding, adrenaline-fueled finale to the world-famous Studio Tour. This technologically advanced thrill ride, will catapult guests into the high-stakes underground world of fast cars where they’ll join the cast in a harrowing escapade. The ride will be situated within a newly constructed 50,000 square foot building on the legendary backlot and will reunite stars from the Fast & Furious series in a groundbreaking mega-attraction, conceived as a new installment to the dynamic film series that can only be experienced at The Entertainment Capital of L.A. The dynamic hydraulic-motion based ride will tell an original Fast & Furious story, incorporating hyper-realistic special effects and state-of-the-art 3D-HD imagery projected onto the world’s longest and most expansive 360-degree screen spanning nearly 400 feet in length to encircle Studio Tour guests in the Fast & Furious universe. 2016 will be a magical year for Universal Studios Hollywood as the theme park’s epic transformation becomes fully realized with the highly-anticipated arrival of “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” Inspired by the magical world created by J.K. Rowling and brought to life in the Warner Bros. films, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywood will be a fully immersive land designed for the entire family that brings the Harry Potter fiction and films to life with impeccable detail and authenticity. Similar to the dynamic Universal Orlando Resort themed land that opened in 2010, the Hollywood experience will be faithful to the visual landscape of the fiction and films, including Hogwarts castle that will serve as the iconic focal point of the impressively themed environment. “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is a collaboration between J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Universal Parks and Resorts. This evolution of Universal Studios Hollywood will also include the addition of two newly constructed parking structures that, combined, will accommodate thousands of additional vehicles. Construction on the second parking structure will be completed in late 2015. Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A., includes a full-day, movie-based theme park and Studio Tour; the CityWalk entertainment, shopping and dining complex, the Universal CityWalk Cinemas and the “5 Towers” state-of-the-art outdoor concert venue. World-class rides and attractions include the intense, award-winning ride, “King Kong 360 3-D” on the famed behind-the-scenes Studio Tour, the critically-acclaimed mega-attraction, “Transformers™: The Ride-3D,” “The Simpsons RideTM,” “Revenge of the MummySM—The Ride,” “Jurassic Park® —The Ride,” and the much anticipated 3D Ultra-HD movie motion-simulator adventure, “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land.” Press release. Quite a few things planed then!
Flipper
That's a hell of a lot planned. Although doesn't really suggest they're going to go out and build the next Duelling Dragons Equally, I intend to be visiting in a few weeks for the first time, so much looking forward to Minion Mayhem.
Benin
Hollywood unfortunately doesn't have much in the way of room to build something on the scale of Duelling Dragons (not that one would be built and run in the same way as it once was before the multitude of stupidity and injuries built up)... Still, good to see it getting love, hopefully the Tram Tour continues getting investment as well...

Mitchada04
So the third and possibly final Hogwarts (depends if Beijing ever happens etc) has begun soft opening. Hopefully this means opening on the 7th April will be smooth and faultless. Some differences to the others: A Mack Youngstar for the Flight Of The Hippogriff 3D 4K FJ with more dementors (reviews of the 3D aren't great though due to the darkness of the physical scenes so Florida will probably just see a 4K upgrade now) Their is a large external queue prior to the lockers for FJ, to presumably hold people back in to ease the bottleneck that room involves in Florida. Oh, but EVERYONE has to queue through the outside bit, even single riders with no bags. It also has fastpass on it. You can have your photo taken in the HE... for $25 Olivanders has two show rooms and a larger shop, and some other shops have moved about. Other than that, it's pretty similar. Similarly busy. Photo op Broomsticks New cred for Hollywood. Still looks lovely at night. 6 years since the Orlando version, that's how long Potter has been storming the parks. In other rumours, Diagon Alley will break ground very soon apparently to compete with Star Wars Land opening in Disneyland. It is also meant to include the HE, don't ask how as DA will be on lower lot and Hogwarts is on upper. Oh, and a second park is now rumoured/in talks/in progress.
