January 25, 201114 yr comment_107538 SSS = SAW, Stealth, Samurai!!! Probably my 3 favourite rides at Thorpe Park, although I still think Inferno and Colossus have something over Stealth in that they last longer and are more worthit queuing a long time for.
January 25, 201114 yr comment_107540 I think I have to agree with two of your choices there...but for me it has to be Stealth, Samurai and Slammer )
January 25, 201114 yr comment_107542 I've never been on Slammer I always bottle it for some reason lol I'm sure I'd luv it once I got on there but I dont like the look of the restraints they look uncomfortable and when I read about it in the news that time about it being stuck upside down that put me off going on it!!
January 25, 201114 yr comment_107543 Slammer is a fantastic ride. It scares the hell out of me when it goes forwards so I always get on the right hand side so I can go backwards first. Anyway, shouldn't go off topic too much!!!
February 27, 201114 yr comment_109605 Ah Stealth, one of my favourite ways to start a day a Thorpe, but it is a bit of a one trick pony.
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112536 This seems like the most appropriate place to put this. What is the actual acceleration of Stealth?Reason I'm asking is because the official website seems to claim under 2 seconds (as do a lot of other sites), I've also seen it advertised as still being 2.3 seconds. On the entrance sign for the ride itself for example.I thought you guys may be able to clear this confusion up for me lol.
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112538 ^ See RCDB seems to agree with what the park says on their website. I believe what RCDB says, but then why have Thorpe not bothered to update the signs in the park with the faster acceleration. It just seems a bit daft to have all of the 'Stealth upgraded' marketing and all that, to then still have the original signs. To the rest of the GP, it comes across as being slower than what it actually is.
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112551 Well, in 2006 when it first opened, it was advertised as 0-80MPH in 2.3s.In 2007, it was 'upgraded' to under 2s (1.9 as RCDB states). It was never modified, just Thorpe changed where they were measuring. I think 2.3s is the time from the beginning of launch track to the end of it, 1.9 being the actual reaching to 80MPH.So, in other words, pretty sure it's 1.9s - though not 100% sure
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112555 ^ Ahh right, that makes more sense. Still don't get why Thorpe haven't updated their signs though. They are still there arn't they? Advertising 0-80 in 2.3 seconds. Cos I haven't been for a year, and I'm going to look stupid if they're not haha.
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112567 Yeah, most advertising says 2.3s (not sure about the photo cases, think they may have been changed). It was more just a way of keeping Stealth in the limelight for another really...
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112568 Photo case from 2010 still says Europe's highest and fastest launch coaster (Baco is now faster. I don't know if it still the highest). I think it says under 2 seconds but I am not 100% sure.
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112569 Photo case from 2010 still says Europe's highest and fastest launch coaster (Baco is now faster. I don't know if it still the highest). I think it says under 2 seconds but I am not 100% sure.Yes, it says '0-80 in under 2 seconds'. I agree it's strange how they did not change the signs around the ride, maybe once they were in the park after the new advertisement, 0.4 seconds isn't worth changing the signs for.
April 5, 201114 yr comment_112576 Well, in 2006 when it first opened, it was advertised as 0-80MPH in 2.3s.In 2007, it was 'upgraded' to under 2s (1.9 as RCDB states). I think 2.3s is the time from the beginning of launch track to the end of it, 1.9 being the actual reaching to 80MPH.So, in other words, pretty sure it's 1.9s - though not 100% sure Firstly, it was upgraded. I have it on very good grounds. This rumour it wasn't is just that. The head engineer of the ride in 2006/2007 happens to be a friend of mine, so I'll put to rest that it was a change in measurement, it doesn't take much to change the acceleration rate, just a laptop that you plug into the system.Secondly, you guys over rely on RCDB, it's just an enthusiast site, run by normal people, it doesn't complete a theme park census or manufacture questionnaire to gather information, it relys on contributors like you and me. I have corrected it on several points, consider it more a wikipedia, less a manufactures handbook.
April 11, 201114 yr comment_113046 Always wanted stealth to go backwards when I'm on it is it true that it rolls back after 120 launches
April 11, 201114 yr comment_113056 Always wanted stealth to go backwards when I'm on it is it true that it rolls back after 120 launchesNo I think it's affected by weather and stuff. So I highly doubt it programmes itself to rollback after every 120 launches
April 11, 201114 yr comment_113057 I swear there is a math to Stealth rolling back? I remember having a talk in a college group years ago and the man explaining something about it that's slipped my mind.
April 11, 201114 yr comment_113058 I swear there is a math to Stealth rolling back? I remember having a talk in a college group years ago and the man explaining something about it that's slipped my mind. There is maths to it...If it ain't going fast enough, it rolls back...Simples...
April 12, 201114 yr comment_113147 Yeah. I'd love to get stuck on the top though, although it is extremely, extremely unlikely. It has happened before though, but no one was on the ride at the time.

The guy who was trained to go up and push it wasn't available so that was rather problematic for them
April 12, 201114 yr comment_113149 Hehe, I remember that passing through Chessie that day... The guy who was trained to go up and push it wasn't available so that was rather problematic for them You need someone trained to go and push it!? Is that H&S stuff or something?
April 12, 201114 yr comment_113152 You need someone trained to go and push it!? Is that H&S stuff or something?Yep, especially due to the height, securing harnesses, how to push it safely without injuring yourself, etc...Sometimes H&S is there to actually be safe...
April 12, 201114 yr comment_113155 Thought it would probably be something like that..Would've thought they'd always need to have someone trained 'on duty' if you will though, as that 'just in case'?
