RideAddict
5pm is the norm. That's what time they close every time I go in May.
MikeC
I love the new Smiler logo on the top of the Rehyrdator. Thank God that ghastly Fanta sponsorship has been removed. The Smiler is fast becoming my favourite ride at Alton, and I haven't even been on it yet. Nemesis, you might just have a contender
Benin
Love how Fanta was ghastly and no-one ever cared about the Coke sponsorship logo (in regards to Rehydrator based times)... Not a fan of it being the Smiler logo though, let the rides be separate please...
MikeC
I can't say I remember much of the Coca Cola sponsorship, so it obviously did its job well. Everything about the Fanta sponsorship was wrong - It was loud and ruined what is a perfect ride experience. The awful slogans just took the biscuit. Mark9
Like the look of The Smilers merchandise based on pics from Towers Nerd.
RideAddict
Some interesting pictures from Towers Nerd live, but it would appear the quality of The Burger Kitchen has not set a new standard in Merlin outlets food quality, at least according to Stretchie - take a look at what he wrote: I ordered a quarter pounder. What came was a sad single patty on a bum with cheese and some sauce. It was reasonably tasteless and extremely unfilling. Maybe it needs more horse. The chips were also pretty tasteless. They were like cardboard dipped in salt. So in whole I'm not really impressed. Looking at people's faces around I don't think other people are either. The deserts are based loosely on the MCFlurry, I've partaken in one of the Rollo ones. Verdict: the Rollo's were nice. The ice cream was a bit bland. And for some reason the the sauce was at the bottom and the spoons were micro spoons. But it was nicer than the burger. On the whole. Not impressed sorry. All feels a bit cheap and bland. I feared this would be the case and although you can't judge from just one persons opinion (especially when you haven't been, like me ) however my verdict will be delivered as soon as I've checked out Chessington's Burger Kitchen (if the purple exterior doesn't kill me before I get in there!). Fred
The only thing decent from Burger Kitchen is the chicken burger. And even then, you may as well just go FCC as it's just in a bigger bun and overall nicer there.
Ricky
Towers should be fun for guests tomorrow.
Benin
Towers taken the decision to close today as a result of the weather... This year's gonna be awkward...

Bubbles1
"HOW DARE THEY CLOSE BECAUSE NONE OF THE RIDES WOULD EVEN BE GOING AND ID BE FREEZING! IF I WANT TO PAY TO STAND IN THE COLD DOING NOTHING THEN I WILL" My favourite type of feedback
RideAddict
This year's gonna be awkward... It'll probably snow heavily the night before Smiler's opening day.
Dan9
Tomorrow, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are all forecast to be even colder or as cold as today. Hmm...
AstroDan
The snow is only forecast to continue until tomorrow morning. However, the cold is absurd - literally, 0C in main season. Best get my walking boots on for the stroll to the main entrance from the main car parks on Sunday, then!
AstroDan
Alton Towers is closed again today. The snow is worse than it was yesterday. I live in Rugeley (about 20 miles south of Alton Towers) and there is considerable snowfall, with many roads impassable.
Liam T
Alton Towers will be closed tomorrow (Sunday 24th), confirmed by their Twitter. This isn't a good start to the season for Towers! Or the lead up to the Easter Holidays! But the snow is unbearable up here, really hard to imagine how bad it is unless you're around or in the area! Roads are at an standstill and loads of places cut off, I hope this clears up fast! I can't see any progress happening on The Smiler in these conditions. Mattgwise
I'm sure the park also had around 3 or 4 days closed last year due to weather or power problems. So second year in a row with a bad start.
Fred
Towers had 2 closed days last year, but they were closed during the day rather than full closures. One was snow, other wind.
RideAddict
Last year or 2011 they had to close for the first time in its history.
Ricky
This is worse than the February Half Term line up, I know it's probably not the right train in thinking but they may as well close until more rides are available, not many people will want to go as it is! Old MacDonald’s Farmyard The Towers including Hex and The Sanctuary Cloud Cuckoo Land Dark Forest- Rita Forbidden Valley- Nemesis Sub Terra, Ripsaw and The Blade Gloomy Wood Mutiny Bay
Benin
Considering THAT'S the state of the park (and the surrounding area), that's as good as it's gonna get... It's a double edged sword... They should (if they want to stay open) have discounted the price two fold in order to represent the low availability (because it's not solely down to the temperature)... J.S217
Surely just a metal plow on the front of the mine train to shunt the snow off would work
RideAddict
Looks like RMT ran well. Just seen various photos on Facebook today, and the list of rides that opened. I'm beginning to wonder if it was worth it! If I was in reach I'd have gone in just to wander round to see a snowy park.
Benin
Park opened, but most of the rides were (unsurprisingly) shut... Exactly what Ricky's original post said...
Fred
Issue with severely reduced ticket cost is it means more people want to visit, and therefore more people disappointed. At present, they're allowing people to enter under no pretense there's no rides available, then giving them return tickets as they leave. Easy peasy! EDIT: To add more to general discussion, towers is advertising Nemesis Sub Terra on da telly. They are really enjoying their old adverts atm, whilst awaiting smiler!
