Benin
The H&S of the walkways of tomb have leap frogged tombs re-theme over bubbles, to the top of the list. If this IS leading us into the re-theme, all we can hope is they do a good job. The state of the building has also probably made any work on Tomb important, otherwise they probably wouldn't be allowed to even open it... HermanTheGerman
Anyone have a rough idea what volume of visitors Tomb get's compared with BubbleWorks? Less, definitely less. I would assume there's a difference of around 200 per day.
Chaz
Guys, next year. Don't get too excited. I assume this Tomb thing is, indeed, for Hall'O'Ween.
pluk
Guys, next year. Don't get too excited. Sod the skeletons, This should be Chessingtons teaser trailer strapline, released at this time every year just to keep our expectations in check. lewumbrajumbos
Matt 236
Tomb definitely needs some work done to it as its starting to look dated now, however I'd say rides like Falls, Bubbles, fury, skyway & vampire are higher up on the to do list as in their current state they're pretty shocking for what's one of the Leading parks in the UK. HermanTheGerman
Tomb comes above the rest because the others are structurally sound...Ish.
Ian-S
Half the guns don't work on Tomb (or didn't) so it needs a lot of TLC.
Merry-go-girl
Less, definitely less. I would assume there's a difference of around 200 per day. Gotta be one of the reasons it's jumped ahead of other rides then, if they still have good traffic why would Chessington put money into them. SteveJ
It's nothing to do with how many people ride it or whether the guns/effects work or not, it's just plain old and the building needs modifications. Since Chessington opened its a notoriously difficult building to manage. HermanTheGerman
JoshC.
in their current state they're pretty shocking for what's one of the Leading parks in the UK. Possibly playing devil's advocate here, but is Chessington really a leading park in the UK now? Sure, they're the 4th biggest in terms of attendance, but that means next to nothing really. They don't do anything particularly spectacular, the majority of their headline attractions are over 15 years old, they have added two major attractions in the past 12 years. Maybe too much is expected of Chessington? Or maybe that just highlights how low our expectations are?
Benin
Highlights how badly treated it was when DIC when running the show really... That decade did a lot of pretty irrepairable damage to the park, and when you then have a company who only seem to spend money on things if it brings in guests (which isn't the main problem with Chessie at all, nostalgia factor brings in people irrespective of the state of the place), then you get all the issues we've seen... If money was actually spent seriously repairing stuff, maybe that child wouldn't have fallen off the queue... Nor would we have Tomb's building practically being condemned... SteveJ
As far as I know the Tomb building itself is fine, it's certainly built to last so is structurally sound. It's just that it's not functional as an operational building, think along the lines of ventilation, inspection, cleaning, access. It needs new infrastructure throughout and it's been said since 1987 how difficult it is to manage.
Kerfuffle
Well whatever the attraction is, it's been confirmed to be for Howl O Ween. https://www.facebook.com/Chessington/videos/10153427530589035/?permPage=1 It's almost time to reveal all Adventurers...something new and 'spook-tacular' is coming for 2015! JoshC.
This image was also tweeted by Chessington's Twitter, which heavily suggests that we're seeing either some sort of special version of Tomb Blaster (Tomb Live maybe?) or an attraction themed around Tomb Blaster... Said it before, and I'll say it again. For them to be advertising a Halloween attraction now, it better be special to be worth the attention. HermanTheGerman
Considering the current condition and age of the Tomb Blaster sets and infrastructure, it's surprising to note that the floor of the sets is actually safe to stand on. TraX
This won't be inside the attraction, it will be in the same place crypt was. Tomb is falling apart, and who knows this might tie in with the rumoured re-theme next year (although I doubt it). Well you wouldn't just fall through, it's a solid floor in that area Kerfuffle
Benin
The fact they've used the term "spooktacular" says to me that its something for Halloween... Maybe something similar to the Krypt maze they had a few years back... *smug* OldFarmerDean and TPJames

Benin
"First new ride since Peeking Heights"? What awful reporting... Wouldn't get too excited, it's only gonna be a small flat of some form...
Kerfuffle
So judging by the location of the label, I assume this means a Tomb revamp is pretty unlikely? (although it IS next to Mystic East).
JoshC.
Given there's no plans online yet and Chessington has pretty difficult planning constraints, it surely can't be anything remotely big if they're confident enough to be advertising it already? My bets is on a small ride replacing the Lorikeet Lagoon area, which has been closed and empty all season.
