Steve1891
The music at rush is chart music, remember anything atall about the song? Well quite stupidly my friend decided to start talking at the start of the song, and with the sound of Rush in the background it makes getting the lyrics fairly difficult. A lot of people have said the song is quite distinctive which made me think it was in the charts now but no joy there. I have uploaded the recording here - http://picosong.com/wTt6/
dragon2000
It is so weird being in Lost City at Thorpe this year. All this 'Top 40' music being played sped & higher pitch makes it seem like a nightclub all day long... catchy music. but totally wrong for the theme. There is a clearer version of the track Steve is after on this YouTube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Yqp0cRG1n4 I'm also curious about some of the tracks used... if anyone can help me with the following song identification I'll be very grateful! 1st song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_Sy7TVzYS8 2nd song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_GuOXiRfCk (0.55-2.05) Chorus of this song something like "I gotta fly, I gotta fly. In front of this DJ, in front of this DJ..."
Mattgwise
It certainly is strange. Although annoying when queuing for Vortex and it plays loud, then cuts out, then plays the actual Vortex music for one or two cycles, then goes back to a muffled Chart music! Seems to be taking a hell of a long time for them to get used to the supposedly "upgraded" Park wide link. Would have thought the music would have been zoned correctly by now and played at normal speed.
BigBobJones
On my visit last Monday, they have replaced the blown speak on Vortex and the sound quality is much better. I would prefer the propper Vortex music, but on a plus side thanks to Thorpe and Shazam I have got hold of some fairly good tunes.

I searched YouTube for a long time, then again I was searching for Rush as I thought it may be a song allocated for that ride only. This does seem to be a slightly different version so it has me thinking maybe there are some songs in the charts and others which have been remixed and very unlikely to find. I still can't quite make out the lyrics to do a search and Shazam still doesn't return any results so the wait continues. I will see if I can find any info on those other 2 vids. dragon2000
^ I've literally been trawling through youtube videos of Vortex/Rush trying to figure out what the songs are! Especially the one in my last link. It's just stuck in my head! Thanks for your help on this mission, haha!
Steve1891
Oh I can't tell you the man hours we have put in and failed with. I am going grey over this It has come to the point where I have begged them via an email to send me a track list or at least some idea of the repeated songs they play. If they are so nice as to reply with it then I will forward it onto you to look for yours also but I am not getting my hopes up. For me there is nothing more annoying than having a song you like stuck in your head without knowing the name, the amount of times I have listened to it - by the time I find it I will be bored of it! *sigh* BigBobJones
jammydodger
I also think that the Xnwo queue line music is quite upbeat and with the darkness and flashing, colourful lights it creates a great atmosphere...
Mattgwise
The new track (since last year) is quite good but disagree that it creates a good atmosphere as it only plays along one tiny stretch of the queue line! They need speakers throughout the indoor section!

BigBobJones
If NWO had a good theme and effects it could be very good, it just seems as effect break down they just put club music on and paint the walls black to cover up what is missing
RobD
Cry. Well, we all knew it was coming, it's just a real shame that Thorpe Park have had to sacrifice what was some of the best composed theme park music out there. Ah well, if you want a theme park, Europe is just a Ryanair away.
Marc
Whats been sacrificed where?
RobD
Vortex music? Zodiac music? Rush's own soundtrack, dome music, a gradual winding down of specific area themes, and ride sountracks over the years as Blackpool style one big neutral (none) theme engulfs the park. It's not a criticism, just that's the direction Thorpe are heading, they want to be an amusement park, not a theme park. Marc
I think the sound systems still abit broken at the moment, vortex and zodiac still have their individual sound tracks as does Rush. It just depends on the operator pressing the button to play them! Your right about the dome having lost its music, although thats been like that a couple of years now
RobD
Oh I know about the dome, but the background audio in the lost city 'flats' area was always the lost city ambiance, alas no more, if it's all chart, basically engulfing the whole area. I'm assuming it's fair to say Rush has no more than pre-recorded announcements this year, if the clips I've heard on here are anything to go by. (Refering to the lack of 2005/2006 music used in most seasons prior).
Graw
Went yesterday, still chart music playing on nearly all the flats at a high pitch. Chart/Electronic music playing throughout the dome and the Entrance also. All the coasters had their usual music on, as did Rush and Zodiac. They played the Entrance Theme on the way out as the park closed, which was pretty cool . However no music playing in the X queue which was a bit of a let down, but towards the end section of the ride, the final brakes and as you go into the exit station the music was playing (same track as last year) albiet very very loudly, which was awesome . c1hrisin
I hope they make a completely new set of soundtracks themed like prisons (lots of bangs clanking chains screams)
Mattgwise
Interesting response from Thorpe Park to the question about chart music in Lost city. Seems it is meant to be playing there according to the post. What do people think of that idea? I am not in favour of it personally as it defeats the whole object of being a Theme Park! If the place wasn't themed fine but it really doesn't suit the theme! http://forum.maniahub.com/topic/9800-lost-city-soundtrack/
