Merry-go-girl
If I were planning on braving this event which day in the half term would most likely see the least traffic? I'm guessing Monday the 28th might be my best bet?
JoshC.
Not sure if it's been posted, but the full lineup is now online... http://www.chessington.com/plan-your-trip/halloween-hocus-pocus.aspx pluk
Matt 236
Doesn't look too bad this attraction wise, the mystery of Hocus Pocus Hall sounds very interesting. I do feel its disappointing that the park still closes at 7 giving you just over an half for night rides whilst earlier days in October close at just 5pm which is too early in my opinion. FrightNights04
At least TPs staying open till 10 this year. Shows there listening to their fans
Coaster
5pm and 7pm? I won't be bothering with that then - what's the point in putting on a Halloween event and then only getting another hour of park time than other days? They can't expect to get customers with shoddy opening times like that! dragon2000, TPJames and pluk
OldFarmerDean
Except you only get to experience it for just over an hour. Should definitely revert back to the 8pm close at least in my view. I remember going back a few years ago when they opened til 8 which was good then... and I went last year once the clocks had changed, so created pretty much another hour of evening/dark
JoshC.
An interesting picture posted on ScareTour with the caption: "Who is this strange explorer and what does he have to do with Hocus Pocus Hall at Chessington?" Coaster
is ment to be good for halloween no ? ( iv never been ) is it true the haunting in the hollows is the same scare factor as the curse at thorpe park ? , what is the scariest attraction like ? It's not that good for people who really want to be scared - The Curse at TP was much scarier than Haunting in the hollows. If however you just want a bit of spooky fun without actually being very scared then go to Chessie.
swooddow
its a shame really , as I start work there in october as a scare actor working in the hollows maze. Still sooo exited for it though and if its designed for familys and thats whats the maze is entertaining , then thats all good !
Merry-go-girl
Chessington is primarily a family park so the Halloween event is supposed to be spooky but not especially scary. Thorpe is more body parts and escaped mental patients, Chessington is more bed-sheet ghosts and witches.
OldFarmerDean
although not scary in a gory horror form... the haunting in the hollows walkthrough (and I've said this before), was surprisingly excellent - had a great story & atmosphere, and the some of the themeing and actors were brilliant... I genuinely found the walkthrough scarier than the curse at thorpe park, and really look forward to it again this year if it's largely unchanged! swooddow
was the haunting in the hollows scare maze , a conga line maze , as in did people entering have to put hands on sholders ?
OldFarmerDean
was the haunting in the hollows scare maze , a conga line maze , as in did people entering have to put hands on sholders ? it was more of a walkthrough with many scenes where an actor would be explaining a story or something would happen etc... some bits were outdoors, and some indoors (inside marquees etc.)... it wasn't a conga line style one
swooddow
What was the themeing like , I heard that they actually create the village of black hollow ! , were there any part within the maze that you had to put your hands on the people in front's sholders ? , I seem to be hearing different things. No, not really. Although some people did just because they were used to that. The space arrangements usually meant standing in small groups or around the scenic features. OldFarmerDean
Only the very last bit where was pitch black with actors if I remember would people put their hands on other peoples shoulders, but I personally walked by myself with others in front and behind, you don't have to conga line it. And the themeing is different scenes... I wouldn't say themed to the village though, but was decent themeing
Coaster
You did have to go in a conga line for the Krypt maze which appeared in 2011.I don't know why on earth they didn't bring that back, it was quite good!
Benin
Krypt was ridiculously fab <3 Apart from the really crappy ending of course... But I guess it suffered from location and general awful throughput... A shame though... Glitch
Imagineer
You did have to go in a conga line for the Krypt maze which appeared in 2011. I don't know why on earth they didn't bring that back, it was quite good! Throughput, location, cost. The attraction wasn't automated - all of the effects were triggered by 4 hosts inside the main body of the attraction chucking the rice, being the monster - pushing the fake wall, and triggering the sound effects etc. So it was hard to staff. Also the marquee leaks. Many of the wooden flats sit rotting in a container. Also the cost of putting it back up and hiring all the sound and lighting equipment again. Krypt was ridiculously fab <3 Apart from the really crappy ending of course... But I guess it suffered from location and general awful throughput... A shame though... Don't even get me started on the fudging Gorilla head. SteveJ
swooddow
haha , gutted I never went through it , but I think they should have at least one conga style maze for adults , because people will come as familys ect. maybe if they cold find a way to make the effects inthe kyrpt become automated , they would have it up again . It just shows that chessington are able to create a fully emersive markey maze ! , just a shame they don't create one for a slightly more mature audiance
swooddow
For everyone exited for this halloween ! this video gets me in the mood for a spooktacular time ! Hocus Pocus Starts in 1 months time !! 31 days ! Kerfuffle
Merry-go-girl
If an experienced person was going to Hocus Pocus would they choose Friday the 25th or Tuesday the 29th?
Tom
Not sure on that one, but my suggestion for anyone on the forum looking to go to Hocus Pocus to choose saturday the 26th. First saturday of half term has been quieter than any other day (including the day before) the last 2 years running so if you're put off by the fact that it's a weekend don't worry!
