October 16, 201113 yr comment_125001 I do love the whole time-lapse idea, it's a real credit to Thorpe for even doing it. The final video might be played in the queline maybe. Hopefully gonna visit the park with coasterupdates.com soon
October 16, 201113 yr comment_125038 Having been to Thorpe today, I was gobsmaked at how big that lift is in person
October 16, 201113 yr comment_125039 Personally, I'd say no picture can do justice to how great that lift hill looks.
October 16, 201113 yr comment_125040 It should look even better when I go on the last day of the season
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125051 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8THDPZTebISorry about the quality!
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125061 <video was here>Sorry about the quality! One thing I will ask ben, do you have access to the time lapse camera? Thanks for the video, you can now see the full extent of the project, and the amount of >time to erect.Anyway, I have a video, released by Thorpe. Showing the backed track being positioned.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2Lfzr16PfwThe original post is here
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125065 More progress on the drop...this was 5 minutes ago :)EDIT: Check the track piece in the water on the right (!)
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125067 Sooo how are you taking these pictures, you don't seem to answer me. xD
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125074 EDIT: Check the track piece in the water on the right (!)I love it! They spend £18 million on a B&M wingrider and then drop it in the lake! :DI've got to say that it's easily the first drop that I'm most excited about seeing being built. And I didn't realise it would extend over the water like that, should look fantastic when you're on it.Sooo how are you taking these pictures, you don't seem to answer me. xDMaybe he's trying to keep his tricks of the trade secret. ;)EDIT: And cheers for the updates, they're much appreciated!
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125079 A few minutes ago...So far today there is a new footer in the foreground, presumably for one of the engines attached to the plane's wing; More catwalk has been added to the lift on the right side; The 'medium' support after the base of the first drop has been taken down and two track pieces are now being joined to form part of the TP inversion.

October 17, 201113 yr comment_125082 The support was taken down to allow the crane access to construct the first drop. I do find it strange that they are constructing it this way. I would have thought that they would have had a start point to construct the ride and then follow the track round (like they are doing with Wild Eagle) rather than construct different sections of track around the island. Cheers fo the updates!!!!

October 17, 201113 yr comment_125085 Hi there,This might be a stupid question but is it possible for the track to be damaged and affect the ride experience from the drop into the lake.Just wondering.JAMMYD777

October 17, 201113 yr comment_125088 I suppose it would depend on how far a height it was if it had been dropped. I'm not sure if the water would affect it.
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125089 I lol'd.They might be quenching it. Yeah. That's why. The steel was too hot and slightly out of the correct shape, so in order to cool it, they plonked it in the water for a bit.Or they just messed up.
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125095 Wow, well I can honestly say I've never seen that before :lol:First drop bottom is looking schweet.
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125100 Okay, so imagine you've just endured the feeling of being slowly tipped out of your seat 127ft up. You then chance a look downwards and see nothing but a lake... That's going to look awesome! Not only will it make you feel as if you're going to miss the ground altogether, but if then sun hits it at the right angle you'll be looking straight at the reflection of the train and have the illusion you're going to crash not only into the ground but into another train!Small pleasures... ^_^EDIT: Been trawling through some old updates. Here's one from Theme UK on October 13. Hello themeing!Well, themeing still in it's shiny blue Studios North box.
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125112 If it was Alton Towers, that building would be considered already themed!
October 17, 201113 yr comment_125123 I still can't get past how steep that lift hill is. I think if it broke down and I then had to walk down those stairs at that height I wouldn't be a very happy bunny. Still, maybe it's not as bad as it seems.
