Quantum
Whatever reacted to Marhelorpe for a topic
Figured I'd reignite this topic slightly and confirm something suspected for a while. Some may have noticed for a few years now that there is always a single entire row of empty seats on Quantum which are never used during operation and at first, I always believed they were broken restraints, but after the experience I had on 31st October, the staff operating it confirmed after I pointed it out they were closed off to allow themselves to cross from one side of the platform to the other. Since only two operate the either ride now instead of three usually, the batching area is left unmanned during the ride's operation, hence why they are never used anymore these days. Usually I've had no problem with this and realise of course more staff = more costs, but given it reeeeeeealy slowed everything down and there was so much faff involved that evening, it's times like that I wish the batching gates were used once again with an additional staff member to speed things up on both sides of the platform during loading/unloading. Once can hope it can be run like this once again!1 point -

I once had such a naff cycle on Samurai that it went so bleeding slow and when it stopped I thought they were going to whack it onto a decent cycle. This year I’ve only done Samurai twice - once earlier on in the season and the second time last Sunday - last Sunday’s was the most intense I’d experienced (have ridden it a fair few times in the past few years). Had so many flips and the cycle lasted longer than any previous rides - I was screaming and swearing throughout but had to stop as I thought I was going to pass out or puke. Getting off the ride I felt drunk ?. What might have added to it is that I always sit on the furthest inner seat but on Sunday I was one away from the outside (only ever done that once) so it felt a tad intense. Am yet to venture onto the outter seat - it just seems too exposed and I can just about cope with the tamest seat ?1 point

They are never going to re-open now, slammer cost to much to maintain and loggers has quite clearly gone past being repaired. I’m just so confused because what is happening at this park at the moment, there has been lack of investment, looks tired, and no hotel yet. I feel like this is the park the merlin might sell on to somebody else, just a thought ?1 point

Slammer and Loggers have been SBNO for too long, they need to either be reopened or replaced ASAP.1 point

Fright Nights 2019 - General Discussion
HermanTheGerman reacted to Graw for a topic
as others had said, I'd just love to see a complete revamp with 5, even 4 just really good and decently long mazes. one outdoor one would be fine, but I really miss the intensity of the classic indoor attractions. I'd love saw alive to go (as fun as it is), and see a different maze in there if possible. a non TWD maze in the back of X with the quality of cabin in the woods in 2014/15 would be great. I could actually imagine a revamp or vulcan being great though tbh - the concept is one of the only unique ones they've had recently, every single maze is just zombies or serial killers - thorpe should really start branching out with themes tbh. imagine what they could do with a swarm maze, or a technology themed maze or just something different - having humans in bloody makeup screaming 'ahh' or 'help me' in your face for 3 minutes hasn't got anymore entertaining in the last 8 years lmao. they need to step it up to match towers in terms of intensity, I'd rather be pushed around a bit or have some unique scares than just being screamed at in the face by every single actor. also, keep up the levels of roaming actors - I remember in 2013 actors were literally chasing ppl through the queue of asylum and chasing after them all the way into the toilets, but every year after that I've been I've hardly even seen any actors. I just think they need a complete revamp, new themes, less boring scares, more intensity, some decent parkwide theming and just.....make it more of an event?? rather than an average thorpe day with some shipping containers plonked near Colossus1 point -
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this ! I don’t think it’s either but I’m sure someone will work it out!1 point

Stargazing Pods - New accommodation for 2019
Robert.W reacted to Stuntman707 for a topic
There's good reason people are against Alton Towers new pods. Looking at it purely in comparison to what Premier Inn are planning - Premier Inn: - Designed by PriestmanGoode - twin beds that can be pushed together to create a double - a bathroom with power shower - free wifi - a TV - power sockets - air conditioning From £19 a night Alton Towers: - Bare Pinewood "minimalistic theming" - fixed twin beds & small double taking up most floorspace - free wifi - power sockets - convection heater - Shared bathroom facilities a short walk away in "pod camp" - Breakfast bap (Currently free mini golf offer) From £88 a night off peak Purely on value for money, Premier Inn's luxury pods wipes the floor over Alton Towers pods.1 point
