I would treat vicking river splash differently as they added doors to the boats and they are quite high sided, so I would assume the risk of someone going overboard is slim, also with the audience at legoland, the majority will already be accompanied

Thorpe Park have long known the issues with the fence at monks walk with a number of regular fence junpers but havent fixed the fence to stop them. 
 
All the guests the next day would have had there days ruined as I doubt the park would either open or have areas closed as a result

Most likely there was a breakdown that needed to be repaird be it a sensor or something mechanical

From the looks of things, it looks like the new footage will involve more people inside the carriage with you this time as opposed to one person sitting opposite you. The use of a 360 degree camera hints at this.
 
Admittedly, this is looking to be a better experience than last year if it works properly.
