How Busy Is It Going To Be?

Mark9

Question

Right, so instead of endless topics asking us how busy the park is going to be, instead here is a rough guide to the kind of business the park/s should be expecting this season. It's not set in stone and remember business can be effected by weather, ride reliability, mount of trains/cars on the rollercoasters, amount of staff working on things, fastrack etc etc etc!10am - 5pm Weekday. Likely to be very empty, particularly in term time. Queue time should be minimal (Unless your name is Stealth and you have a stupid system where you can only load 4 in the first, 8 in the second and then you end up rolling back anyway etc etc) 10am-5pm Weekend. Will be emptyish, however likely to be long queues for Saw, Colossus, Stealth and Nemesis Inferno.10am-6pm. Busy but not so bad. Queues for the coasters could reach 45/60 minutes, whilst the rest of the flat rides should be a max of 30 minutes. June and July are when schools start rolling in, so between 11-3 the park will be very busy.9.30am-6pm. Should be busy. Queues for the coasters could reach 60/90 minutes and the rest of the rides queues will be between 20/40 minutes. Fastrack will be in operation.9.30-7pm. Expected to be busy. Queues should be similar to 9.30-6.00 close except the last hour should be quite empty.9.30-8.00 Again should be busy. At least you have a long day to get on quite a few rides. 10.00am-10.00pm Will be busy. Last year wasn't as bad as previously however if it ever hits peak capacity, queues will be up to 2 hours for the rollercoasters and between 45/90 minutes for the flat rides.Remember guys, read this guide to help if you beat the queues without wasting money on Fastrack. Also use the park well. Head to Stealth and Inferno instead of Saw and Colossus. Do rides whilst they look empty instead of following the majority of the crowds.

Another moderately busy day yesterday.

Whilst slightly annoying, It's somewhat of a relief to see things are finally back on track as far as gate figures go. Hopefully its enough to compensate for the weak early summer period.

Definitely something to do with the Olympics in my opinion. People were probably putting off their visits until it was all over.

Went today, dissapointed that there was no Stealth, Colossus, Samurai or Slammer but luckily the park wasn't too busy considering 4 good rides were out of use.

Total ride count: Swarm 2, Inferno 2, Saw 2, Loggers, Rumba, Detonator, Flying Fish, X, Zodiac, Quantum, Rush, Vortex

No stealth or Colossus for the whole day? That really is a very poor show Thorpe...

Gone slightly off topic however :-s

Likely to be busy on Wednesday?

Usually it isn't this time of year, but with the Sun offer running, the number of rides that appear to be struggling and reports on Thorpe's Facebook page of 90 minute queues this week, I'm starting to worry my visit next week won't be the walk-on-fest I was hoping.

Any ideas how busy this Sunday might be? I'm guessing, being a weekend, it's likely to be pretty packed... As I've not done The Swarm yet though, as long as I get to do that once or twice, I'll be happy.

Any tips for the weekend - I'm assuming as long as I hit The Swarm first, it'll be all good?

Thanks guys. We're going to be getting the 950 shuttle bus to/from Staines station, which I believe stops running about 40 minutes after the park shuts. If the park hours get extended until 6pm, does the shuttle bus stop time change to reflect that?

Also, how do you find out when the park hours are extended?

Yes the shuttle bus times will reflect extended opening hours. The service operates until 30 minutes after closing not 40.

You can find out by Information Boards which will display ride closing times, and will have a message to indicate an extended oepning hours

Thanks for the advice. Just back from the park now, and had a really good day out - much better than the other time I went when the park was packed! The park was really quiet today. After the initial morning rush, The Swarm had a maximum queue line of 10 minutes, Stealth and Nemesis: Inferno were max 20 minutes all day, and SAW peaked at 30 minutes. Longest queue of the day was Colossus at about 40 minutes. We managed to do The Swarm 6 times, SAW twice and Stealth, Nemesis: Inferno, Colossus, Rush, Storm Surge, Rumba Rapids, Detonator and X No Way Out once each - very successful day!

Yes I was at Thorpe today as well - very quiet with minimal queues :)

I thought Colossus had been closed for the past few days (according to the site ticker anyway)?

We're going tomorrow so hopefully it will be open :-)

Not sure, but it was running yesterday all day with 2 trains. The only things which were closed were Slammer, Slammer and that weird Neptune's beach thing at the front. Oh, and SAW Alive - which I'm led to believe is now only operated over Fright Nights? If true, that's very poor show.
